How to free CoX of spam emails

The spammers are committing credit card fraud to create new accounts, or some variation of other criminal activity to conduct their "business." They are often outside the country so there's not much NCsoft can do to stop them.

The only way to shut them down will be for us to stop buying their services. It's the height of idiocy to buy anything from these guys. They're crooks and we're giving them our credit card numbers? Where do we think they steal the credit card numbers from?

You are assuming they are stealing card numbers, but...

You can buy VISA gift cards (for example) that work just like any other credit card. You can have as many as you want and create as many accounts as you want with them. They are anonymous and don't have to be stolen...

But accusing them of stealing = better demonization and more fun!

You want drama? I am fed up with people abusing what is supposed to be a fun feature in a game that I've been paying for 5 years now. I want my in-game email to be free of these harassing emails and I want to be able to use it again as it was intended. You are right that I want people to join in "my crusade" because it's the right thing to do. I know that the devs never intended it to become what it has and I have a right to ask that something be done about it. If you had done your research and found out that I was right in the first place instead of attacking me there wouldn't be any drama.

Sure, you have a right to ASK that something be done, but that's not what you did.

You unjustifiably COMPLAINED that nothing was being done.

And as we mentioned several times. Things HAVE been done about it.. and more changes are in the works... so hold onto your shorts. lol

But we have had this drama since the RMTers started doing it and numerous threads railing about it and the devs have made 2 or 3 modifications already with Issue 16 adding yet another.

So what do you propose they should do about it? They are against it. They want to stop it. No one wants the spam mail.

There's several posts a week about it.

And mostly true anyways. Yeah some of them probably buy those pre-paid cards but most are thieves. It's in the nature of the beast.

You need to re-read my original post. I wasn't unjustified nor did I say "that nothing was being done." I merely offered my opinion of a possible solution. If you don't agree that email should be taken away from trial accounts go ahead and say so, but don't put words into my mouth.

The point is that sometimes the email is the only method of communication that you have for friends on temp accounts, so they can't take it away.. and probably wont, and it's not only temp account that send out spam... so blocking them wouldn't stop anything.

Also, with the new ability to block email from people you don't know.. you avoid the whole problem, and the information about this new feature could have been found very easily by doing a simple forum search first.

Again, read the post that started this thread. That is what I propose we do about it.

Email is one of the only ways Trials can communicate with people they know in the game.

They aren't paying for the game and I am. So why should they have the same privileges that I do? If they are legitimate trial accounts hopefully they will see how cool this game is and buy it.

They already don't get nearly the number of privileges that we do. With the new feature coming, you'll still be able to add friends on Trials to your list so you can still get their emails. I don't agree that it should be taken away from them completely. It can be quite useful to help new people get started.

At this point, your suggestion belongs in the suggestion forum anyway. Oh wait.. it's already been posted there several times.

And rightfully so, because they don't pay for it.

Much of the spam you receive is from paid accounts also.

Example:
Somebody pays for power-leveling and gives their username and password to the company providing the service.
The company takes that opportunity to spam from that account while the service is being performed.
It happens all the time.

I'm aware of that, it has already been stated but trial accounts are a primary way that they are being sent as well. Let's just agree to disagree. I've said my peace.

I don't see why you are pushing this still. The upcoming feature fixes the majority of the problem.. at least see how that works first.. unless you have some friends that are spammers. rofl

The irony is the OP doesn't get that he is spamming this thread.

1. He's posting in the wrong section.
2. He got his answer but won't let it go.

I read your rant. There is nothing in it for US players to do about it. There is nothing new or interesting in your rant that hasn't been posted ad nauseum for the past couple years.

Your inability to see the difference between a forum where players ask other players questions versus the suggestions and ideas forum is amusing. That you think you had a proposal in your post is amusing. Your rant is not.

Things you've been wrong about since the OP:
1) You have a right to ask, not demand.
2) just because trial accounts can email doesn't mean that's the only way spam is sent.
3) as I said before, if you'd looked or asked you'd have learned a solution is already on the way and there's no need to implement further restrictions on trial accounts.
4) you leave the strong implication that not solving this problem means the devs are stupid.
5) you overstate the difficulty and scope of the problem and the amount of use the email system got even before spam. Hyperbole doesn't make your case.

Really, I don't want drama. The fact that you keep posting in such an inflammatory way shows you think it's fun or will solve your issue more effectively, even though it's already solved.

Final Tip: you seem as if your feelings have been hurt by the way people responded to you. Don't take the forums personally, and don't start from an emotional position, and people won't be as likely to come down on you.
