You guys still here?
[QUOTE=Schismatrix;2197097]Sure, i may be missing out on the awesome experience of having groups of players camping out spawn points hoping to beat others to the mission objective when it spawns that the new game has, but i'm still here. (Do any other current MMO's still use that mechanic?)QUOTE]
Conan does, but the respawn is really fast and there are so many quests close together that you hardly notice.

Aren't you the girl that compared being PVP'ed in RV to being ***** and tortured in prison in real life?

Plus the masses of others that already have it.
People expecting anything different from Cryptic are kidding themselves.

And for the same reason. The game was easy button before the change and now i have to think about the way I play or team because I'm not in god-mode anymore.
Yeah, I think it's probably like that.

The sad part, this probably tells us about where ST:O is headed.
Analogy
- a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based: the analogy between the heart and a pump.
- similarity or comparability: I see no analogy between your problem and mine.
- Biology. an analogous relationship.
- Linguistics. a. the process by which words or phrases are created or re-formed according to existing patterns in the language, as when shoon was re-formed as shoes, when -ize is added to nouns like winter to form verbs, or when a child says foots for feet. b. a form resulting from such a process.
- Logic. a form of reasoning in which one thing is inferred to be similar to another thing in a certain respect, on the basis of the known similarity between the things in other respects.
I played beta and didn't like it, but that shouldn't be news to anyone. But even if I did like it the $200 lifetime subscription would have scared me away instantly. At a subscription rate of $15 per month, discounted down to $10 to account for the collection of the money up front, they are expecting the game to last only 20 months. I'm not interested in investing my time in something that the designers think won't make it's second anniversary.

Once I heard the lifetime subscription deal, I thought the same thing a week or two ago. Toot toot, all 'board the Failboat.

haha yeah i would totally agree with that, now if COX wants to give us a $200 lifetime sub.. I'm totally game

I halfway agree with you, though I think it will last at least three years, barring unforeseen meltdowns.
To counter that games launch, these guys did offer closed beta spots for Going Rogue to everyone who just keeps a paid account through Oct.
That's what competition does.

If Cryptic operates like Paragon Studios does, the devs have plans for updates at least two years down the road, or at least have enough ideas to make it at least that long. I doubt any publisher would give the green light to a developer if they didn't have a long term plan past the launch date.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
*heh* i took advantage of the deal even though i suspect i ended up on a naughty list somewhere since i haven't received a single closed beta invite since the CoV beta. i can't recall offhand anything i might've done except for sometimes being a snarky inglourious basterd on the boards now and again. That and only occasionally logging on during open betas and reporting the random odd bug. (The one where typing % into chat instantly crashed the client to desktop was my personal favorite.)

I always thought that beta invites had to do with being chosen from a pool of people who had been on test server since the last issue. But I admit, I really don't know much about that sorta thing only having been invited to one closed beta myself.
With luck like that I hope you never waste money on lottery tickets.

@Celestial Lord and @Celestial Lord Too
Lord of the Rings Online offered the $200 lifetime subscription deal to those that pre-ordered the game two and a half years ago, and that's still around and doing well.
|
Heh, yea we all know you purchased one (was it 2?) lifetime subs.
No worries, that game will surely be around for more then a couple years.
Well let me hypothesize actually. It will unless, DC Universe Online fixes it's animations and ends up being amazingly fun, while Star Trek Online turns out to be a wonderfully popular game, and Cryptic's interest in their latest game wanes (their history so far) in place of STO and the new "secret" Atari/Cryptic project in development.
In that silly hypothetical, I'd give it three years.
School starts Tuesday and I haven't played CoH in months but I also have no interest in Champs Online either.
I picked up Aion though, the character creator is very detailed and the graphics look pretty. I'm hoping "Going Rogue" will bring CoH in that direction visually also. |
Aion released? I thought it was just a front for money laundering.
Who knew.

I see no reason to leave. (At least until Activision comes out with a MMO version of "Pitfall". Then all bets are off.)

Actually I dropped that game because there was no real customisation. Same reason I keep coming back to CoX.
