So I just noticed Statesman is banned?

It's just so bloody satisfying to ban someone. Yes, I am a petty and spiteful person. I say Statesman the poster should stay banned.

Statesman the character should be killed off. It should be a suitably glorious death, and he should be forever enshrined in some prominent spot. We could visit him and weep on his grave. At this point he's so irrelevant and largely resented there's no reason for him to stay alive.

Makes me wonder what the relationship between the Devs and Jack is like nowadays. I mean, a lot of them did work with him day in and day out for the better part of a decade, I would assume. If the opportunity arose, would Matt and Jack get together for beers to catch up? Or is Jack now "the enemy", and fair game to a cyanide tablet in the water bottle when he's not looking?

...Not that the devs would ever do that.

They shouldn't kill of Statesman - he's the Superman of our universe.
You've gotta separate the character from the developer

I figure it was an admin powers thing. I hope he still plays and is still around, this game really is his baby (after rick dakken's, yadda yadda) and whatever the current situation is, we do owe him soem gratitude for being here. the current crew is doing a great job and i16 is by far the most relevant to my interests that has come out, but I still respect the contributions jack made and hope he feels welcome here, just not with admin powers.

None of the other old developers aren't banned (Like Geko). I also notice Cricket is banned too.

Seems kind of funny but not really sure why that was done. I wonder what he thinks when he visits the forums?
All the past inactive rednames were imported as Banned, including CuppaJo. It's probably just the default title for accounts that were locked for any number of reasons, including leaving the company on amicable terms. Cuppa's title was customized right after the migration because her account authored many still-stickied posts. Jack's probably got overlooked because you don't see his posts except when one searches by poster name.

You're attributing something malicious to an automated process.

OTOH, they may not have changed it to a custom title out of other reasons. But in any case, it's floccinaucinihilipilification.

I don't if it was really his baby maybe he shouldn't of talked so bad about it and totally turned his back on it. for the Icon of hero side he acted pretty villainous and being a villain I find that insulting.

I don't wish him ill prosperity but am glad he is banned it is as it should be.

Thank goodness for that - I was afraid it might have been pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.

Fortunately, browsing the forums rarely causes any sort of irreparable damage to one's lungs

Works for me. Though the Superman of the CoX universe is a bit of a jerk in game. No, make that frequently a lot of a jerk.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

'Twould be a meet and fitting end if Tyrant ends up replacing him.

Tyrant killing Statesman = big storyline.
Tyrant replacing Statesman = total game-world change

Nobody ever dies for real in comics.
They could make a great storyline out of bumping off Statesman, then bring him back in the next issue or something.

You're asking Ultimus why he made another thread?

You realize you're just making it so he'll make another thread titled, "So I noticed people tell me not to post..."

Ya know, even if Statesman the Character is our Superman, it wouldn't hurt us to have a "world without Superman" at least for an issue or two.

The way I see it, we're already fourth-stringers (Manticore, who is a third-stringer, can beat up most of us). There are some second-stringers and first-stringers, and Statesman is Zeus in the flesh... I feel all kinds of unimportant all of a sudden...

Now if Zeus in the flesh was gone, a sense of vulnerability would descend upon Paragon (the Isles have an Incarnate, we don't...) and perhaps we'd all feel a touch more significant...

I actually think he might feature in GR, if they revamp the "Hero's Hero" arc into a high level TF - it'd have the same basic story of having to find and rescue Statesman, but it'd be way fewer missions - like instead of having mostly just one Praetorian per misison, there'd be several, and the missions would be more multi-goal ones like the 3rd ITF one.

Actually, we can beat up any signature Heroes or Villains, as long as they're EBs and not AVs

What's funny to me is that it's labeled as Statesman_NA.

As for the rest of it, wow; perspective much? I may have disagreed with Jack, even enough to leave the game over it - but dayum. Hate? Someone I don't really know doesn't qualify for that level of emotional investment.

Well, he sometimes posted on the Euro forums too, so he had to have a separate account for that - so it'll be here too somewhere, with the "EU" tag on it instead of the "NA" one.

There's an entire story arc in PI dealing with the disappearance of Statesman. You know, the one where no one knows what's happened to him, and then we find out that alternate dimensional versions of our heroes are showing up, and he's held captive by his alternate dimensional counterpart?

I figured as much. Still struck me as incidentally humorous. Imagine the superpowered forumdramaz if Statesman had joined the chorus of "zomg my forma name is _NA!!!!1onityhonda!" Typing on a tiny keyboard with his superfingers with as much iRage as the flimsy plastic could allow.

Statesman is banned because CoX is really run by the Guild of Calamitous Intent.

Hehe, that's why I said "beat up MOST of us"

I actually meant not a temporary, story-arc disappearance (I ran that one, it was fun), but rather a global "he's gone" hiatus. Preferably with a dramatic pretext (a noble sacrifice, a battle of the gods that goes badly for Ol' Shovelface, maybe getting lost in time) and ominous consequences - passerby muttering "What will happen to us now that Statesman no longer watches the City?" The questgiver in IP could be replaced by someone appropriately distraught and depressed, or a jittery hologram.

It could go a ways towards diluting the usual MMO static-ness. Even if the hiatus does come to an end one day.
