There is a Statesman_EU, but it is not listed as banned. Its listed as recruit. Maybe they want to check into that in case it has red name privileges.

 I actually meant not a temporary, story-arc disappearance (I ran that one, it was fun), but rather a global "he's gone" hiatus. Preferably with a dramatic pretext (a noble sacrifice, a battle of the gods that goes badly for Ol' Shovelface, maybe getting lost in time) and ominous consequences - passerby muttering "What will happen to us now that Statesman no longer watches the City?" The questgiver in IP could be replaced by someone appropriately distraught and depressed, or a jittery hologram. It could go a ways towards diluting the usual MMO static-ness. Even if the hiatus does come to an end one day. |

As for Statesman being "irrelevant and resented" I think you'd have a hard time proving either of those things. Especially the "largely resented" part, because it requires a majority of the playerbase to have some kind of emotional investment in the character in the first place, let alone a negative one.
The entire Freedom Phalanx is "irrelevant" to the game, in that they don't actually DO anything except hand out some task forces and guest-shot in some strike forces. Statesman is no more or less irrelevant by that yardstick than any other signature character.
Jack's gone. The comic writers who portrayed him as a drill seargent didn't "get" the character. Troy Hickman is really the only comic writer who "got" Statesman. In-game, he's anything but a hard-***, self-absorbed, self-righteous, drill seargent.
Move on already. Statesman's fine.

Just to further explore my hatred. I keep having the following dream.
Positron is fighting Lord Recluse. Lord Recluse has taken Statesman's Cape and his badge of leadership of the Freedom Phalanx. Lord Recluse (voiced by Leonard Nimoy) is choking Positron and taunting him. Then Positron manages to wrest the cape and badge off Lord Recluse.
He rolls over and stands. Statesman's Badge which holds a single drop of water from the Well of the Furies, opens as Positron holds it up. The drop falls into Positron's mouth.
Then from somewhere off camera, Stan Bush starts singing "The Touch". Positron transforms gaining the powers of an Incarnate to add to his own. Statesman is heard calling from heaven, "Arise Positron Prime!" Positron throws Lord Recluse out of the window from the top of his tower in Grandville. Positron uses the power given him by the badge to start a chain reaction that will destroy Grandville.
He then meets up with the rest of the Phalanx. Back Alley Brawler says, "I knew you had potential." Positron now wearing the badge of leadership orders the Freedom Phalanx and Vindicators to escape Grandville. He breaks through another window and the others escape through that opening.
Later, Positron is giving a speech celebrating victory and the end of the war with the Rogue Isles.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
I wonder if GR might upgrade the "Rescue Jake Emmet" radio mission into a moral choice mission?

Can someone explain the Statesman hate? I really don't get it.
Try and do it without referencing the comic if possible. If it's not possible, that's fine, the comic is canon, but I'd personally prefer a comic-free explanation.
I hate the Statesman character because he has the powers of Zeus, and doesn't just fry all the enemies with a massive lighting storm in all directions. Instead.... he punches stuff.

I don't hate him, but I think he might need the Clue Bat.
When I tried to explain to him what was so awesome and engaging about Atlas Park as opposed to the lame as **** Canada or The Desert... He honest to Dog didn't get it.
I typed like a 1000 word essay on why Atlas was Awesome stepping out into a new MMO. and after all that he still didnt get it
I like how he asked about CoH instead of his own game. That's funny.

I think/though CO failed at making me feel Super. Where this game succeeds.
In this game there are pedestrians fighting with gang bangers on the street. pedestrians you need to save from drunk drivers. Thats what super heroes do when there isnt anything super major going on. IMO. In this game there drug dealers that need to be taken out. We dont want the kids of paragon getting hooked on Superdine. This is what makes a low time hero into a big time hero. Doing heroic deeds for the city.
I was TRYING and trying and TRYING to explain that on the CO boards.

Zeus was also a major jerk. Like epic-class jerk. He cheated on his wife (with EVERYONE. I mean EVERYONE)... was a deadbeat dad to dozens of kids... when his own daughter was... ahem.. sexually assaulted, he ordered her to marry the guy who assaulted her because she nibbled a bit of fruit rather than starve while imprisoned as his pleasure-slave... he changed himself into animals to sneak up on unsuspecting women to have his way with them... he tortured Prometheus because he was nice to us and prevented us from freezing to death against Zeus' wishes... and orchestrated the entire Trojan war from start to end.
All things considered, if Statesman is Zeus, he should really probably be Redside.
I think Tyrant will probably be a better model fo Zeus than States ever was.

That tutorial wasnt even there until a few months ago.
It is just like the rest of the game... You are doing the same things everyone else is doing. You dont even need to be there. Because everyone else is doing the same linear content you would be doing if you were there.
I am happy you like the game as you have said in so many other threads, but TBH I dont feel like a super hero when I am always being a government lacky. That tutorial has like nothing to do with the rest of the game... Get out of the City and go to the middle of nowhere and collect wolf pelts.

One thing that does piss me off and I have been in contact with Cryptic reps and a GM now and they are reviewing it is the name filter. Ultimus is not allowed over there yet my account name is Ultimus. Oh that makes me angry enough not to play it.
Edit: I heard the same thing for a few other players. With names they use here, I think one person had "Wind Dancer" as their main and its restricted there.
Statesman is banned due to pwning n00bs in AP.
