I16: Super-Sidekicking Explained

How will the affect Task Forces? Will characters now be able to run Task Forces from below the minimum level or will they still have a level requirement? IMO, if you're goal is to allow anyone to play together, I think you should remove the minimum levels for TF/SF's. This is especially important, I feel, since you are removing Hazard/Trial Zone level requirements, because otherwise, there will be little to no point for a level 1 to head to RWZ or Cimerora other than to get the day job badges. Plus, with this feature, it would allow more customization so that early level characters can gain access to Vanguard and Roman costume pieces.

If this is not already planned/working I vote strongly for its inclusion.

For those who are in the beta actively testing this I'd suggest checking coop zones, PvP (zones and arena), and AE missions with specific level ranges to see how all this works out as far as quirks/wonkiness.

I really have to admit to me it seams with the coming potential competition, Paragon studios have went into overdrive. These ease of life features and small tweaks to day to day playing that make life easier are just perfect. One that i'd like to see thought that hasn't been brought up/mentioned is an overhaul of the search function, but something tells me that will be brought in with GR.

Keep up the excellent work devs, your making me and i'm sure i can speak for the vast majority of your player base when i say, proud to be a supporting member of the community of this game.

The futures bright.

This basically expands the idea so if you're 10, and your friend is 30, and his buddy is 47, and your significant other is 18, and the neighbor's kid that you invited over to try the game is 1, you can actually all be in the same team together.
Exactly. It should make it far easier to find a team -- for those who have issues recently -- whether other players are still playing AE or not.

In other words, the pool of potential teammates just got a lot bigger.

Does this mean you can walk a level one villain and a level one hero to the Rikti War Zone as long as they are on a team with a 35+ leader?

Maybe this will get all of the AE farms away from Atlas and move them to the RWZ if this is indeed the case.

YMMV---IMO

Hey I just realized something: With the abolition of the level restrictions for hazard zones, this means that the ability to get a jetpack temp power at level 1 is no longer exclusive to Villains. Rejoice! You can go to the Shadow Shard at level 1 and procure a jetpack of your very own soon!

This is huge for the folks on the Hero side that want to put off getting a travel power or forgo it altogether!

Gah.

I16 looks awesome, but this is annoying. I don't want to be guaranteed to be able to succeed in them whilst solo, but since we can already duo all TFs by getting padders, it would be nice for them to give people the option to start them solo without all the faffing (and spamming, which they say they want to stop).

Eco.

Thought of that too, did you?

And if you'll recall, Colonel Nicholson had to build it first, then say "what have I done" before destroying the Bridge.

This may be a case where it is possible that the “advertising” in /broadcasts for bridge teams actually made the practice seem more pervasive than it really was.

Not that I really care, but I am going to put this out there. Did you take into consideration AE currently cuts out the need to bridge? This will effect a lot of people with in AE who are using the AE mechanics to be the 'bridge'. I'd be willing to bet that if you looked at the numbers just before i14 and architect came out, you'd see that they were a lot larger.

Even look back to when the first Double XP was (can't remember, that was awhile ago. . .). While we didn't have the ability to freeze XP to bridge back then, several people would get to 46 themselves, then shoot up to 50 REALLY fast, because they bridged. On the server I play on at least, that was pretty much accepted, and people were excited when they could finally be asked to bridge. Most would put it in their search comment, as would the few that didn't want to.

So I guess my question is this, how is it going to effect the AE missions? Are you also eliminating what I'm going to call the "System Bridging"?

Anyone got any examples of this. I know defeat badges are quicker to get when mobs are 20 odd levels below but earning xp/inf and badges at the same time is a good thing no?

Now @Eskimo-Spy

SO happy about this one. I thought it couldn't be done.... thought the farms couldn't be stopped. But I was wrong.

Also, e-mail changes-- superb. Bye bye RMT spammers!

<uber excited about this issue now>
1. This doesn't eliminate farming. Might slow it down, certainly, but definitely not eliminate. Notice it's made PLing far far easier outside of the MA because you no longer have to find bridges for the lowbies. It'll be slower XP but farmers will still farm and PLers will still PL - you can't stop them no matter how you try. So yes, you're still wrong. I PL now, I'll be PLing after I16 hits. It'll take me longer (no more 8-hour 50s, oh well), but PLing will always be faster than playing the game "normally."

2. The RMT spammers will go back to using tells. Since most of them are using paid accounts instead of trial accounts, they can do that.

Posi, quick question on this. Won't this new email system only encourage the RMT'ers to go back to their original business design of spamming us with tells every 2-5 seconds?

I would offer as a counter solution to have multiple in-boxes. That way we can set up a junk mail box and a friends only box. Then simply add an optional "Delete All" key for the in-boxes and I'd be happy.

I'm really just worried about being spammed with tells again.

Some examples I can think of are the mayhem mission kill badges, the Illusionist badge, and the Anti-Matter mission for the Portal Jockey accolade. The latter two missions are in the 40-45 band so I suppose I'll level the character that has those missions to 50 so I can still breeze through them. The mayhem missions? I'm not sure. I keep pushing for those to be available in Ouroboros but I think that's been falling on deaf ears. *shrug*

Doesn't seem like it to me, at least not how I understand it.

Yes, sadly, it is going away. A dev said that the new super side kick system will over-ride the AE rules.

But hey, its all good. People will still Farm, PL, AND do normal content. They will be less aware of each other going forward. This will be nice because then farmers and PLers will no longer be under the crosshairs of the RPG catgirl team-with-me-or-else-nerf crowd. Well, at least not after they've got their fill of triumph and glee. Which could be never.

BTW I am loving the RWZ thing. I would love it even more if they ensure that the generic repeatable missions can be done by level 1 characters. OR ELSE if there is an AE in the RWZ.

Is there an AE in the RWZ? I would love to do some AE teaming in the AE (or RWZ generic missions) with villains and heroes together from 1-50.
