Hey sexy Wow. am I the only one that heard Johnny Bravo there? |
(IMDB)
Gorgeous woman: What kind of idiot are you?
Johnny Bravo: I don't know, what kinds are there?
Johnny Bravo: [looking in a mirror] Who's this handsome guy?
[grabs a phone]
Johnny Bravo: Hello, 911 Emergency? There's a handsome guy in my bathroom! Hey, wait a second. Cancel that - it's only me!
[Johnny is trying to pick up Daphne and for a moment looks at Velma]
Velma: [with a flirtatious voice] Don't worry, I won't bite!
Johnny Bravo: [pointing at Daphne] Does she?
Johnny Bravo: [pointing at Scooby Doo] You understand what the dog says?
Velma: Sure, we all do!
Arc #6015 - Coming Unglued
"A good n00b-sauce is based on a good n00b-roux." - The Masque
First, Steelclaw, Excellent list. You never disappoint.
Also, on topic this time, I think the OP is being a little sensitive. If the incident was as you said, a one-time mention, I think you should absolutely expect that sort of thing. It's probably nothing more than humor. An appropriate response might be, "Hi, and thanks, I took some time working on this costume, and I'm glad you like it. Have a great day!"
If the person pesters/stalks you, continues to harrass you, or steps over any other lines, then you have a complaint. Otherwise, take a chill pill, and please don't assume everyone is some drooling sex maniac intent on harshing your mellow.
Arc #6015 - Coming Unglued
"A good n00b-sauce is based on a good n00b-roux." - The Masque
Yeah, I realize that the OP sounded too sensitive. It's just irritating sometimes when a team breaks up, and I get on another team where the same thing happens all over again. Granted, it's not fair of me to take my anger out on the new person, but sometimes my temper gets the better of me. My thoughts are along the line of, "If you want to pick up a girl, go to a dating site or something! Don't just hit on random people on the internet! I could be a ten-year-old boy for all you know!"
That's why I said I was gonna make an effort to relax a bit more, and wait to see if the commentor steps it up. If he does, then I'll say one of those ingenious comebacks that people came up with. If he doesn't, I'll assume it was a one-time comment and let it go (yes, I can actually do that).

Why didn't you use it on Johnny Bravo?
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
Well, this has happened to me twice. Once, I just got the /tell:
sexah!
Applied to one of my alien, all-in-black, featurless humanoids (male) who, had the idiot bothered to read the backstory on, would've realized I was an alien manifestation of the Space Beast Celadon sent to Earth to hunt down Rikti technology *sigh*.
And, the other: one of the Avatars of the Elemental Guardians (male) who wears briefs and a tight chest armor suit. She said: hmmmmm! nice legs! I responded: this is just a cartoon on your screen, my dear; please try to calm down. *sigh*
In neither instance did I have a snappy comeback. I've had this happen in RL as well, all through high school to my present older age. To dispel possible confusion, yeah, I'm a Gaymer, so you can see how I really appreciate SC's one-liners. Definitely going to be using them! SC! already added +Rep to ya Love ya!
ps: umm, with appropriate modifactions, of course
Cal_NA (until the _NA fix)
Other responses:
"Oh sorry I would but my BF just got out of jail for beating the last person who said that to me into paste..."
"If you really want to see how sexy I am IRL check me out in my bikini on youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75_F4-IMWPE "
"Are you always so stupid or is today a special occasion?"
"Careful now, Don't let your brains go to your head!"
"Do you ever wonder what life would be like if you'd had enough oxygen at birth?"
"Could you fix your crainal-rectal problem for a moment and rephrase that?"
"Ahh Hi there (idiotsname)! Wheres Curly and Moe?"
"I like your approach... Now let's see your departure."
"If I wanted to hear from a ***, I'd fart" (Thank you Captain Spaulding!)
"In the land of the witless, the half-wit man is king"
Granted some of them are kinda random and are supposed to illicit a "wut?" or something stupid like that. However quite a few of them if applied tactifully will leave em scratching their heads goin "duuuhhhhh *drools*"
Anyway, good luck perv-stomping
Apparently the moderators of this forum feel that homogenized milk is too high in fat, and not wishing to perpetuate the overweight gamer stereotype they have censored it, in the hopes that we will seek out healthier alternatives.
Or, swear filter is silly. |
On topic though, I've always liked telling people if for some reason I'm on a female character that I'm actually a G.I.R.L. (Guy In Real Life)
So love those Steelclaw
Up till now this has been my normal reply to such things: "Thanks, if you think my toon is sexy then then you gotta check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EljRVE2FPPY I change the video I send them too every so often, but this is a good example. *note* Its not sick or twisted, just more like "wtf?" |
Okay, I'm confused. Someone left me negative rep from this thread with the comment "meh", and I want to know who it was. That was the first negative rep I've ever gotten and, since I haven't even posted in this thread in a long time, I don't really get why whoever did that did that (yes, this sentence makes sense, read it again).
For the record, this incident has given me cause to agree with those who dislike the reputation system. I can't even tell who did it, which is extremely frustrating, since I would like to know what they found offensive and respond politely to clear up any issues that either of us may have. Just saying "meh" isn't helpful in the slightest, so now I'm really irritated. I'm even more irritated than I was by the "hey sexy" comments, because at least I could deal with that (after reading this thread and Steelclaw's hilarious comebacks). Besides, I could at least ignore whoever was hitting on me, since their name would appear in front of the comment. Getting negative rep is like getting punched in the dark; you know someone did it 'cause it hurts, but you can't tell who, which leads to a lot of lashing out randomly, which causes the escalation of this issue when others respond as you did.
That's my overly sensetive rant for today. What do you think about the whole forum rep issue? Well, besides that I should've started a new thread on it instead of hijacking this one.

+1 rep for you Lucretia. Damn those jerkwads. Just need a freakin "thanks" button... thats all we need. no karma stuff.
Thank you for the +rep, it was much appreciated .
I have several -reps that just have . or .. as comments. I also havea few +reps that don't have anything. And one that has the beginning of UniqueDragon's first post on the Forums.
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
I don't get upset about the negative rep so much as the rude comments that accompany them.
These comments are the reason I haven't written a "funny" post or list for the past two or so weeks. Quite frankly it's hard to be in a funny mood when I suspect someone will take advantage of the system's anonymity to be a deliberate jerk.
My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

I'm the type of person though that I don't really care what people think of me, I'm going to post exactly what's on my mind and not sugar coat it, despite whatever "rating" people might end up giving me.

+rep
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
I usually don't care what people think, but getting that -rep is making me think twice about what I post. For some people, this is a good thing, but I don't like having to metaphorically look over my shoulder every time I want to post something. I'm generally polite on these forums (at least, I think I am), so there's really no reason for someone to -rep me anyway.
What I can't get over is people who -rep someone else just because they disagree with them. People have different opinions. That's how life is. If you don't agree with someone, talk to them and try to understand their point of view, don't leave an anonymous hateful note at their desk (which is essentially what -rep is). If someone is being deliberately aggravating, then -rep them. Trolls should get all the -rep they can eat. Most of this goes for people who /ignore someone on the forums, too.
*As always, the above is my opinion, which you may dissect at your leisure.*
Sorry for the double post, but I just checked my rep again, and it's even higher than before the -rep I got. Thank you!
(By the way, whoever said that they didn't find anything objectionable in my posts apparently missed a certain thread, which is understandable, since it's been deleted. My post there was basically me exploding at someone who was trying to tell everyone how to play the game "the right way". I get extremely irritated by people like that, and I'm pretty sure that saying so will come back to haunt me later.)
Awesome thread!

Haven knows, I've exploded a time or three myself. So, Post on and cry on my shoulder if you feel the need.

From City of Oz to your many lists, the accolades are many and well-deserved. It is like running for President and carrying all 50 states... don't sweat it if you don't carry the District of Columbia, ya know?
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
-rep? evil notes? BAH! I will like ummm throw frogs and ummm turtles at anybody who -reps me from here on out!
Granted now I'm just asking for it, but oh well, My rep is hidden... *waves his hand* "You don't need to see my reputation, This isn't the lunatic your looking for..." *runs off cackling to himself telling that darn purple fairy on his shoulder to keep it the heck down*
Anyway, I really hate the current system, forums are OK, rep is not, replace it with a thanks post and there yah go. Positive "rep" only, leave the negative at the log-in screen, thank you. Yes, just pile it up over there.... I SAID OVER THERE! sheezh... new guy...
I had a friend that played female characters in AO. When getting hit on, he just said:
"I just farted really bad and now I have swampass"
That pretty much worked every time.
I'm only ladylike when compared to my sister.
I guess my friends just have a better sense of humor on the subject.
And, yes, you only have my word for it, but having been in the theatrical arena for 25+ years, my friends run across several social lines.
Also, I am not a guy. Interesting assumption, there.
I thought the particular comment that this little "scuffle" originated over was funny in the context in which it was presented, and would surely get a creepy dork the hell away from you. However, if something similar were offered up out of this context and in a more serious tone, I would be offended on behalf of the transgendered folks and say something. There is a fine line between offensive commentary and humor.
Also, don't you know that there are no girls on the internet?
