Big words!

Why cannot read? I try but no sense

Movie bad.

I would like to issue a plea on behalf of Paragon's diminutive protectors, please watch where you step. We're four feet tall in a six foot tall world, we've been cast adrift in a sea of butts. -Pillbug

Fun movie. Great kids flick. If someone had told me this was a live-action adaption of an unused pilot episode or something for a revival of the cartoon, I'd totally believe them.

It feels like a live-action saturday morning cartoon. And it doesn't take itself as seriously as Transformers does, which is one of the main flaws of TF.

There's a kung-fu grip mention, knowing ends up being half the battle, and all other sorts of goofy goodness.

Worth seeing. Not worth rushing to see, but worth seeing. Ignore the plot holes(there's a lot of silly ones), become 9 years old in your mind, and you'll love it.

(and on a side-note, I loved them turning a grey goo scenario into a controllable weapon. It's so... supervillain.)

If you're watching this movie for any reason other than attractive female forms in skintight leather.....

Then I pity you.

Hooray for Baroness!

It's a fun movie, but if you try to take it seriously you'll ruin it for yourself.

Really, it's a kid's flick aimed at moving toys. Much like the original cartoon. It's still very enjoyable, but keep that in mind.

I had a lot of fun spotting the throwaway characters and costumes that were made to be figures. Arctic Assault variants for everyone!

I love my Job; I took my client to see it.

For me the action was good out of 4
the acting was, the story was pure Saturday morning, and the changes to the lore is ok since its a movie.
However, at the end, Cobra Commander needed a better look IMO, and Destro just worked even with the flaws i.e. ears. Moreover, let’s just say for seeing the Ninth Doctor being Evil is "Wonderful" (in northern English accent).
And if you not a teenage boy looking for hot women, there is still some appeal to this film.

Or even better, GI Joe versus Transformers versus Aliens versus Predator versus Julia Childs.

As a hardcore fan of the original GI Joe series/comic, I have to say that this movie was the worst GOD-AWEFUL thing I have ever seen. 99% of the story was "original" had had nothing to do with the original series. If they took away every name of the Joes and Cobra, you'd think this was any other mildly entertaining action movie.

Now, believe me, I LOVE the original story of GI Joe vs Cobra. But this thing was so the opposite of the original series, it made my stomach knot up.

SPOILER ALERT *Do not read past here if you don't want to know...*

My belief: If you are going to 'recreate' something as iconic as GI Joe, don't [censored] on the fans that grew up with it. Don't make us feel like the hours we spent, immersing ourselves in their world, was wasted. Don't make us leave, scratching our head, thinking "Cobra Commander and the Baroness are brother and sister? Wait, the Commander is a doctor too? When the [censored] did that happen?"

I think that this movie set back GI Joe from what it should have been. Now it's just a laughing stock, take the money and run, box office manure pile!

Oh, by the way... Cobra Commander ALWAYS WORE A MASK... ALWAYS!!

I'll wait until it comes out on DVD and either borrow it from a friend or rent it. Sorry guys, but Megan Fox is much hotter than the girls from GI Joe.

The most ridiculous part I already saw.

"What does this accelerate?"
"You."

So, I'm gotten all I need from that movie.

As far as "bad" movies go, I'd highly recommend Død Snø, though. I did fall asleep the second time I saw it, but that was because it was a midnight showing and I was a bit tipsy and leaning my head on someone's shoulder.

First time, though, hilariously shiny.

Nazi-Zombie Battalion? o.O

Sounds like a classic there!

SG Mate: Cien, what the hell is this Rookery thing?
RadDidIt: (interjecting) Dude. It's the Rookery.
SG Mate: Yeah, but what IS it?
RadDidIt: Silliness Incarnate.

So.. taking a cue from Sid, offering a recommendation instead of just posting a brief negative comment.

Before leaving my home, caught half an hour of a movie I was reluctant to abandon.

His entire town goes along with the delusion when a shy, lonely young man buys a sex doll on the Internet and begins treating her as his beloved girlfriend in this quirky, Oscar-nominated comedy starring Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, Paul Schneider, Kelli Garner and Patricia Clarkson.
Despite the leading lady being what she is, it's a fairly clean movie from what I saw of it and just read on reviews. Definitely making time to catch it in its entirety.

GI Joe has taken many forms and story lines, each has a different set of lore, I find it funny that someone would be upset that this latest movie also had its own lore.

I hate to break it to the people who are complaining about it not being the GI Joe they grew up but this movie wasn't really aimed at you. Like the Transformers movie it is aimed at the current generation of kids. These movies are really for nothing more then moving merchandise(ie toy lines) to kids. Sure there are little things in there for the previous generation of fans, little in jokes and sayings, but you weren't the target. Most of the actors who were not familure with previous incarnations of GI Joe were actually told NOT to research the previous stuff because this wasn't the same. Welcome to reality and the Hollywood marketing machine, leave your childhood at the door.

Over the years the lore of GI Joe has been varied and contradictory.
GI Joe started in the Second World War, continued through Korea, all as a light hearted look at being a soldier. With the release of the “Action Man” GI Joe they didn’t want to get political so they didn’t really say who the enemy was, but hinted at Asian. During the eighties they didn’t want to make the Russians his enemy so they created Cobra, they didn’t have a back ground on Cobra except they where a terrorist group bent on global domination, they made sure not to point a finger at Russia as the backers of cobra (as a kid I thought this was silly). The comic creators made several attempts to make a background to include making cobra commander a Used car salesman who scammed his way to a fortune (this didn’t work IMO), the current Destro background has always been the same (his background works). So the movie producers obviously wanted a solid cobra commander with backing that works and a lore that gives him a reason for what he does.

My point is simple when it comes to GI Joe lore. There is none.

Understood that the term GI Joe has had many different backgrounds, except I'm not talking about anything other than the Habsro/Marvel storyline, which the movie is supposed to follow (ie: the trademarked and owned property of Hasbro, Inc.)

GI Joe and Cobra have a set history, all of which every other Marvel/Hasbro (even Dark Horse) fed off of. GI Joe is Good; Cobra is Bad. Except this time, this movie, they changed it. They changed the whole history. The changed everything that made the Marvel/Hasbro line unique. Even the GI Joe: Resolute series fed off what is considered GI Joe canon, then turning Duke evil and having him join Cobra.

Even the original GI Joe from Hasbro (the 12 inch doll) had a story that evolved into the Marvel Comics era.

But, this movie, though it made some brief mentions to some childhood references, did not do the story of the formation of GI Joe and Cobra any justice. I mean, if you are going to tell the story, you tell it the tried and true way.

The lore of GI Joe never changed. The story just went into different paths; different directions. If this is what the movie tried to portay, then I would have no problem with it. But this isn't what the movie did. It paved over the the lore. It reinvented every single thing about GI Joe and Cobra. Go back and look at the different storylines that you mentioned. GI Joe met the Transformers, but that didn't rewrite GI Joe's history. The Dark Horse comics even picked up where the Marvel line left off.

You can spin it any way you want. The fact is that they reinvented the story of GI Joe and Cobra. Scratch that... they POORLY reinvented the story of GI Joe and Cobra. I mean, seriously... they reinvented Snake Eyes, they reinvented how Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow met, they reinvented the Baroness, Cobra Commander, Destro, Scarlett, Trip-Wire... all things that they reinvented didn't need to be because it was never a failure.

I hope they find a new set of writers and director for the sequal, because I have a strange feeling they are going to reinvent the wheel.
