Wtb rp

Hi!

I've been on Virtue for a few weeks now (I'm a newbie to the game) and I've only come across sporatic RP (I play on villain side for the ambiance, and I find I enjoy the classes more).

Myself and my friends are looking to get more into RP, but we all have an aversion to Pocket D and the absolute strangeness that tends to go on there. I occasionally find diamonds, but I'm really looking for steady hangouts where I can get into the gritty Rogue Isles feel with my characters.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm afraid to say there is no real other public place to hang out and RP at except the D.
Most RP happens in SG/VGs, either inside their base or when they are out teaming (most of the time without outsiders).
So the classic advice... find a good RP S/VG.

Like Underworld? Then take a look at! http://moonid.net/account/recruitmen.../monstersgame/

Aside from VGs and the D, there are usual groups for the redside shows of The Cape Radio DJs, and the occasional party as well...these mostly depend on what time you and you friends are available. There's actually a beach party this weekend in Port Oakes.

Pretty much have to agree with the above on finding a good RP VG. I'd offer, but ours is kind of in an ... inactive state right now.

To that end, what kind of RP you prefer might lend a torch to your search Personally, I prefer character-driven RP, where the characters are dynamic entities who may or may not have an overarching story going on, but where they're basically growing beyond initial concept.

Some people prefer story-driven RP where the overarcing story is the big focus, and others just want to have fun/light-hearted fluff.

So far as I know there's an abundance of all kinds, but finding it is the challenge. Good luck

Find a good RP VG. There are plenty, the only one that sticks out in my mind are the Vicious Circle. But I haven't seen them in awhile so I dunno if they are active anymore.

Best way to find Rpers outside of pocket D is just to RP.

I especially advise RPing in mission teams. I have found alot of RPers that way. Most of the RP I do is inside teams. If you're ok with starting teams, recruit for your team in character. RPers will crawl out of the woodwork.

If you see people having a discussion (or even a stupid argument) in broadcast, respond in character. Others may follow suit.

That said, I often run into random RPing going on just about everywhere. It's not that hard to find if you look. However, lead the way and others will follow.

Smurch is correct. You can also sometimes start RP or find it with people responding to NPCs. It doesn't have to a pre-planned story. Sometimes it's just talking back to the game where other people can get in on the conversation

Is Pocket D that bad? Just turn off broadcast to avoid the loudmouths. I've been standing there alt-tabbed before and had strangers come up to me to RP. (ERP too, but a polite "no thanks" and they go away.)

Last time some catgirl stole my Huntsman's Caterpillar cap and wouldn't give it back. I fled before she could steal anything else; I'm out of free tailoring sessions and a new hat is like 1 bazillion infamy or something.

I love pocket D. A lot. I am always there, and always find great RPers. My suggestion is that, and finding a VG. Thats about all you can do.

I've never experienced anything like that in PD, people just tend to ignore my existence really...

It is debatable on whether or not Pocket D is a good place to RP.

You want a definite answer?

It's up to you.

You have certain RP standards, some compatibility points. Look into different communities and see what interested you most and what suits your standards most. And Pocket D is one of those communities.

Personally, I think Pocket D is a great place for random, casual RP. It has its ups and downs. But when you roll a new character who doesn't know anyone or anything, best bet is to go to Pocket D and meet some people, and find the poor character some friends to interact with!

The SG/VG I'm in RPs in our own teams constantly, and we aren't against picking up puggies, as long as they won't throw a fit and leave, or be an *** to us because we RP.

SO yeah, your best bet would be to find a good RP VG/SG

Are you phase shifted or invisible? Do you hibernate often? Might just be the problem.

I don't know what it is. I don't go there looking for RP. When I alt-tab, my character either reads a newspaper or talks on the cellphone. I guess it could be that my Huntsman looks as NPC-like as I can make him. Off-duty in Pocket D, he looks as shabby and harmless as any other NPC citizen.

We prefer to think of everyone else as morally restrained. ;-)

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

In my experience, most Puggers you find (at least outside farm teams... I have zero experience with those) are at the very least RP Friendly.

It's actually kinda boring usually. The RP that goes on there is rather, well... dull. It seems like everyone just RPs small talk and flirting and, well, NOTHING. It doesn't go anywhere. Nothing cool DEVELOPS out of it. At least on a team, we have the mission to discuss, so there is some action involved rather than pointless meandering.

When I first started RPing in Pocket D, I figured It'd be villains and heroes swearing oaths, making pithy statements and becoming arch-enemies or something like that. Villains in a dark corner plotting together. Heroes trying to learn their dastardly plans to stop them. Cursing at one another, making threats, heroes trying to convince villains to give themselves up or go straight... you know, genre-appropriate stuff. As it turns out NOBODY does that.

Instead I find:

Which frankly sounds about as interesting as watching paint dry.

No one RPs superhero/villain comic books in Pocket D. They RP Beverly Hills 90210 with superpowers.

...what kind of RP do you expect to find in a night club?

Seriously. If you don't want to RP being at a nightclub where there's no fighting, don't go to a nightclub where there's no fighting. And yeah, it is pretty genre-appropriate; check out Common Grounds, Warren Ellis' run on Stormwatch, Point Blank, or any number of superhero team books for a look at what supers do when they aren't punching each other. Granted, Common Grounds is the only one that has heroes and villains mixing in the same social space, which is a good reason to start there.

Indeed.

Which is why I suggested an alternative spot. But we all came to the conclusions it'd be impractical for a variety of reasons.

But pretty much the only spot to go if you wanna find rp quickly. We need new hotspots for rp Red and blue side...
