Would anyone want a NCsoft pass?

With Aion coming out, how much interest would there be in a NCsoft version of the station pass? I haven't really followed SoE and their exploits, but I have always liked the idea of the station pass. Do you think it's something NCsoft would implement? Also, would many CoH players be interested in that or is it just a bad idea?

Personally I wouldn't find any use for it. I can't afford another game, so this one is my only. I'm sure that some folks WILL get some use out of it should it be done, apparently Aion is getting some reasonable press.

That would be the point of a NCSoft Pass. One price, access to all NCSoft games. (Of course, Exteel and Guild Wars don't have any monthly fees...)

Not particularly.

Aion doesn't really interest me too much. And even if it did, it'd savage my poor old comp something fierce.

Lineage and Guild Wars? Eh. Fantasy isn't quite my cup of tea.

Exteel? A nice diversion now and then, but it's already free.

So, no. I get all the NC entertainment I want/need with just my CoX sub.

I agree with the dancing rat-boy thing.

The only other NCSoft game that interests me is Guild Wars, which doesn't have a monthly fee. And I don't even play Guild Wars very often.

Wow, mark this day, I'm agreeing with Golden Girl. <grin>

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Depends. AION is currently my only other interest. So if the cost of the Station pass was cheaper than or the same as paying for both AION + COH, then yes, I would. If not, then no, as I dont see myself playing any of their other games.

+1

Violence has its own economy. Therefore, be thoughtful and precise in your investment.

I would have been interested back when Auto Assault was still running, I wasn't going to pay an entire extra sub for a secondary MMO.

But the cost of the pass would probably be roughly the same as paying two subscriptions (Sony's is $30/month), so for someone like Zek, it wouldn't help. In fact, since Sony raised the price of their pass from $25 to $30 it's no longer a good value unless you play at least 3 MMOs. And if you play three MMO's you're probably independently wealthy and don't need the pass, anyway. :P

Not to mention NCsoft has in the last few years killed off two games that could have been on the pass, anyway...

The appeal of the Station Pass is that you get access to a large selection of games for less then the price of 2. Those games include Everquest, Everquest 2, Everquest Online Adventures, Planetside, Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard, and until recently Matrix Online. At the moment wouldn't NCsoft only be City of Heroes, Lineage, and Lineage II?

And Aion which comes out soon, and I assume you'd also get Member benefits in Dungeon Runners (normally $5/mo, or 6mo for a $20 box)

Dungeon Runners looks kinda fun to me, I only tried it a little bit really early on. I think they are trying to make it playable in a browser, and more luck to them.

The problem with playing other NCSoft games is that Asian MMOs tend to be very, very grindy. Also, while they often have beautiful characters, the characters and costume options are so very similar that it's like swimming in an ocean of clones.

You'd have to convince me that Aion was at least 3/4 as customizable as CoH before I'd consider trying it and would then give it up pretty quickly if it required grinding or spawn camping.

There was a lot of talk about it when Auto Assault and then Tabula Rasa came out respectively...I think we even got a "Stay Tuned" response from one of the community reps, not that I can remember from what game mind you. Now that those two have tanked and I have little interest in Aion I'm pretty indifferent to the idea. So sure, why not?

Dungeon Runner is mindless fun. The game doesn't take itself seriously at all

I know this is minor trolling, but I just can't pass up any opportunity to internet-ly vomit on SoE since it was mentioned In my most humblest of opinions, SoE did what they did way back with the station pass, because the only guy with any sense that worked there probably said at one time, "Gee, our games pretty much suck, lets offer a package deal to keep 'em playing!"

Yeah, I am a bitter SWG vet. There I said it!

Oh, and yeah, I would buy a NCSoft package deal, but because they never cornholed me up the wazoo yet

If it was $25 sure, $30 why bother. I am really looking forward to Aion but nothing else of NCSoft's really grabs me. Well, at least until Blade & Soul, but who knows if we'll see that stateside.

Edited: This thread got me thinking about why I haven't checked out Dungeon Runners, and now I'm downloading it. Perhaps I should change my vote to Yes on the NCPass.

I'd still also have to BUY said new game, right? Not much chance in that, really.

I would be, but that's primarily because both of my accounts in CoX also have pretty well developed counterparts in Lineage 2. I get my PvP fix in EVE (and Shadowbane, until recently) but I'd be open to adding L2 back into the rotation. They'd have to go a step further than SOE did though by perhaps offering 3, 6, 9, and 12 month pass options as well. I'm not too high on Aion but Dungeon Runners is awesome (in the same vein as 'Dragon's Lair' and 'Space Ace', way back when) so that would be the icing for me.
