  1. I've prepaid for my CoH account for a year. Unfortunatly, due to some family problems I won't be able to play for about 8 months of this subscription. My question is, if I cancel my account will I have a preserved balance or credit for the time paid that's going unused or will the cost of those months be refunded to me or do I just lose the money?

Thanks to anyone that can answer.

Guess I was lucky. I'm going to make sure I keep the accounts running now though.

My husband and I have 3 accounts, 1 for each of us and then one the kids share. In order to do the 12 + 2 month bonus plan we had to let our accounts go for almost 3 weeks in order to have it so the account would bill on the right date. Apparently NCSoft doesn't let you change your payment date. Oh well. Not a big deal. It was his account and my account, we let the kids stay. We canceled billing at the same time and then a couple weeks later we restored the accounts at the same time. We even then logged in at the same time. We KNEW that pacts break with inactive accounts. We thought that if we didn't log in while one account was inactive it wouldn't break. Boy were we wrong.

It didn't matter that we canceled at the same time, or that the accounts were active at the same time that we logged in after the accounts were restored. All that mattered was that they had gone inactive at some point. It really sucked. I was highly upset over it.
  4. Alright.. I am having some problems, and I've come to the point where I am guessing it's my connection.

I've having a lot of Mapserver D/C's, tons of rubberbanding and random disconnects. It happened on Freedom, it happened when I logged into infinity server. So I decided I would test out some other of my MMO's. I logged into Guild Wars. Rubberbanding and a lost connection. I had the same rubberbanding issue in AION this past beta weekend as well but I had initally chalked that up to it being beta. Being that it's happening in more than just CoH, I am guessing the problem is with me.

I've rebooted, shutdown, reset my modem, reset my router.. I havn't called my ISP or anything but short of paying an obscene amount to have a tech come out and (yet again) tell me nothing is wrong... I thought I'd ask what steps I could take to find out what, if anything the problem is and possibly where. I'm on the east coast, NJ to be specific, with Comcast as my provider. I havn't found anything about there being issues somewhere along comcasts lines but I am not positive, it has been storming over the last weeks something fierce here.

    Any assistance is appreciated.
  5. Aside other issues that have popped up today, I just wanted to ask if anyone was having connection problems on Freedom? I've had serious annoying rubberbanding and map server connection flickers, although no D/C's, yet. My husband has been having problems too but that doesn't say much. We share a 16 MB connection.

I just wanted to know if it was me, or possibly the server and other people are having problems as well - before I go on a troubleshooting hunt on my end.
  6. Depends. AION is currently my only other interest. So if the cost of the Station pass was cheaper than or the same as paying for both AION + COH, then yes, I would. If not, then no, as I dont see myself playing any of their other games.

First rule I was ever told about tarot...
DO NOT LOOK AT THE MEANINGS!!
the cards are a tool for your psychic ability to interpret, the readings you find in books are nothing more than what the writer has seen while reading. each card can possibly have an infinite number of meanings. thirdly the cards are not innately magical in themselves, in fact they started as a game, and someone discovered that they can be used to aid in psychic prediction.

For example Ive pulled the world card for a friend of mine and interpreted it to mean that she's gonna do whatever she feels like regardless of what others say, it turned out true and is growing truer everyday (unfortunately) even another friend of mine who's done tarot for a lot longer has said she's never looked at the card that way before.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To say they don't have their own meaning is somewhat false, but rather there is no set interpertations of what the card's mean to each person is more accurate. It's up to you to determine the meaning of those cards and interpert them in the reading which your doing and the other cards in that reading.

Each card has it's own basic symbolism that you can't ignore and if you do, then your no longer practicing standard tarot but something you've made up on your own. And that isn't necessarily a bad thing! After all there are several different "tarot standards", which who have applied their own symbolism to the cards. Thoth based cards are highly different from Rider-Waite cards. Neither which I support.

    [ QUOTE ]

Now, that being said, would this be a functional deck? if so I would totally buy one and use it. If not, I would totally buy one cause it'd be cool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course it would. Belief comes from the person, not the images on the cards. But also, from your own understanding of those cards. The best deck of tarot cards you can have is that which you make yourself. Even in sake of CoH Tarot.. very few will have a set image on what the cards should be represented by.

For Example; Fusionette as the Fool? Some would say because she's an idiot that needs to be flicked in the nose. I read it as her childish nature, her lack of maturity and her desire to prove herself that causes her the inability to evaluate her own situations properly. Others might think someone else, like Azuria is more fitted for the fool.

If you can't see Fusionette as the fool then no, the cards won't work for you.
  8. I think, in as long as I can remember.. more solo players and non-farmers have been asking for this than farmers have been. At least in my perception. "Filling/Padding" or whatever you want to call it isn't something that just farmers ask for. There are a lot of legit players that want more of a challenge and the Dev's are now giving them that all the while eliminating the "spamming for filling" that people have complanted and fitted about for years. And STILL people complain.. Oi.

i hope people don't respond to their children the same way they respond (as addressesd) to threads and would consider it as 'constructive'.

The '/no without explanation/constructive dialogue' (with the supposition of being constructive) does not hold up in child or criminal psychology... it doesn't even hold up in animal training or the tech behind subliminal affirmation programming

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now.. there is one thing different here. We're not dealing with children. We're dealing with grown adults.. unless of course your saying the people on the boards need to be treated like children.

While I am in the telling my kids "No" clause.. this usually comes after already having explained the "reasoning" as to why at least once and going "What did I say already?" followed by them asking again and me going "Didn't I just tell you no?" followed by a pouting face and me going "do you really think that will make me change my mind?" Sadly.. this happens alot with threads.

    "hey how about this"
    "No, don't like it"
    "Well why not?"
    "(person lists reasons why)"
"Well... your mean and my idea is perfect and you don't kno what your talking about!"
    flame wars begin...

The problems aren't with "Yes" and "no" and "constuctive vs nonconstuctive" ... as I actually think far more "flames" develop in "constructive" conversations and in constuctive posts than from a simple "no". I think the real problem stems people taking things far too personally and resorting to childishness over other people disagreeing with them.
  12. This all makes about as much sense... as me telling the kids "There is a new rule; no running in the house." and then at the same time punishing them for running in the house last week.

    [/ QUOTE ]

ALL CC companies and banks will deny a transaction that can be flagged as Fraud or suspicious activity. I've had it happen. Unfortunatly. The one time I spend 750.00 ( I'd never to that date spent more than maybe $200 at a time on my card) it was flagged and the transaction was denied. Sucked being in the middle of Lowes and having to fight with my bank. It locked down my Card, my entire account for 24 hours. I couldnt' do anything and I was told neither could they, that even with my "permission" it would take 24 hours to clear.

I don't know about you.. but I get online notices sent to both my email and text message from my bank when a charge is denied based on a fraud notice. I suppose tho if you never get a flag you'd never get a notice or unless your not signed up for it. Do I expect the bank to call me? Not at all.. that would be an incredible resource that for the situation is easier done by email/text and costs less. When I purchased my web site I recieved a notice of "unusual activity".
  14. After finally reading this.. I kinda like it. The only thing I don't agree with, is being able to take your sig. power and making it into a craftable temp. power to hand off to someone else. That just doesn't make sense to me. I just can't find how or why a hero/villain would decide to hand off what was something that essentially says "ME!" to another, or how mutation and natural orgins could "craft" a replica of their power. Signature powers would be signature because they would be yours.. not.. yours and whom you choose to sell it to.

    Boss Changes

States, it has been the experience of a great many players (mentioned on other threads) that *multiple* unnamed bosses show up on missions that they entered alone.

What I would like to know...

is if a level 28 mission with a team of 4 players level 25 - 28 is supposed to spawn nearly 30 bosses (NOT exaggertaing) for being "Hard-Boiled"
  16. Temp Invul. - Still says it cannot be used with Unyeling Stance.

It has been stated previously by the DEV's that contacts should let you know when a group will be necessary for a mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, but they DID let me know. AFTER I accepted the mission. That's NOT a bug.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to mention that the first AV you come in contact with in a story arc (Dr. V) has no mention of his precense in the mission he is placed in. The mission is about ending the Vahz threat, but there is no suggestion in the mission text that you will be facing an Arch Villian or that you should bring some help. And this one has been around since when? Launch?

    Have fun !

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I did this mission set recently, a few day sago. It DID say "Becareful Dr. Vahz knows of your meddeling and might be there to get ridof you himself." Or something just like that. So YES< it did tell me.

I dont think contacts should tell you flat out "Oh yeah this mission is to kill Mr. Vahz. There is SOME RPG to this game. Even if you do not yourself.

Missions and Story Arcs ARE story lines. The Story unfolds as you go along. More and more info becomes clear.

I agree - timed and "forced group" mission SHOULD have maybe a disclaimer on them or something that lets you know how long you have, and how many people (number figure) you will need.

But as for missions and contacts just "telling you flat blankly and with no story what you will be doing" that would suck. Why not then instead just have one mission pop up after another.

Still, I think the "Refuse Mission" button is much beter then complaining .hehe
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I have no friends who play this game. None of my SG was online. I didn't feel much like going out and find random people while the timer is ticking away.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wasnt refeering to RL friend that play. I have non other then my husband. Understandable with SG mates not being on. As for not wanting to go find other people to help. That was YOUR CHOICE.

    [ QUOTE ]
There would be NO complaining from me if a contact would warn me BEFORE I accept a mission that I will not be able to do it alone. THAT is the beef I have with the current state of this game. Accepting a mission and THEN find out I'll need a team just plain stinks of FORCED GROUPING.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your right. The contact SHOULD have told you. But, sometimes you actually have to read, and then re read. Most do, some do not. They are bugs. Send a petition in. But to say that NOTHING should require more then one person is just plain.. well, dull. (Not saying you, specifically are)

    [ QUOTE ]
On a side note: I get so f-ing sick and tired of people shouting that this is a MMORPG and that I therefore SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SOLO.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, I havnt seen ONE person that has said you shouldnt be able to solo. What I have seen is people saying there should be LIMITS to what/where and how you should be able to solo.

SHOW me where in that term it actually says I should group! SHOW me and I'll shut up. If you can't, then get off your high horses and shut up. The multi-player part of these games refers to the social aspect. It doesn't mean "you have to group, because this is an MMO". It just means that MULTIPLE players are ONLINE, playing the same game as you.

    [ QUOTE ]
I don't mind grouping. I have grouped, and I will group. I just don't always want to, or I don't always have the time to do so. Missions like these REEK of forced grouping. Upping the difficulty even more to the point that bosses become unsoloable REEKS of forced of grouping. Can you avoid bosses? Sure, just street sweep. I want to do missions. There are bosses in missions. Plenty of them. And a lot of them +1.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Notice, You are getting worked up about SPECULATION. Nothing has happen yet. +1 boses, should be soloable. Indeed. But certin areas and aspects of the game, majorally should require grouping, along with missions. But I do not think missions should be "hidden" with the fact.

One more reason I want a "Refuse Mission" option.
  19. In thinking more on this...

I think grouping should be a decent part of the game. Unless you also think Trials and TF's should be soloable as well. I know some people used to solo them. Then complained when they shouldnt anymore. Oh well.

This is a massive player online game. Simple as that. Maybe instead of that they should come out with a first person not online game where you could run missions, pick up new powers and levels and everything else. You would never have to worry about grouping with anyone at all.

There are some aspects of the game that you will HAVE to group for. Sure, its 'forced gruoping'. Okay. No one is FORCING you to take that mission, to do a trial or a task force, take out an AV or monster. You dont HAVE to do it. You dont HAVE to accept that mission.

Yes, certain things should be soloable. The BASICS of the game should be - a mission with 1 even or +1 level boss, street hunting, single even level or +1 bosses. LT's up to maybe +1 level. It should scale from there. A CERTAIN AT should be able, with difficulty, to solo a +2 boss. Thats fine. Some ATs are stronger then others - they should be! I know my husband is certinly stronger then I am and I am sure a weight trainer is stronger then him. Im not gonna take them to court and demand they loose muscle and only be as strong as me. Its absurd.

I don't really care what happen in a comic book, or a TV show based on a certain hero, or what happen in a movie. No, I will admit I am really not a comic book girl - but I did enjoy the batmas, Spiderman, hulk movies. If batman was able to solo joker? Great!! I would consider Joker a Boss. Nothing more. Same with the rest of everyone else. But, those dont matter. because they are not this game. The game is BASED with the Basic Idea of Super Heroes. Does that mean its going to be exact to the imaginations of someone else that created ___ Comic or made ___ movie? No. I would hope not. This game was not meant to be like those, its is meant to be its own. Its another dimension, a different place, and different basics. Paragon city doesnt care what batman or Spiderman were able to do. Because they are not here! this is not "their world".

Personally, I agree - all AT's should be able to solo the basics( Same/Lower level misions, Bosses, LTs. Even +1 level Bosses, LTs, misions). Maybe some a bit longer/more difficult then others. But still they all should. When it comes down to other things... Grouping should be involved. TF's, Trials, Larger missions with several objectives or as before - a mission that has several things to all be "disarmed" at once, AV's, Monsters... If you want to call if forced grouping. Go ahead. I call it just part of the game - and a good thing I have friends in it.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Need more proof of "forced" grouping? The other day I had another one of those "diffuse 3 bombs at the same time" mission. NO warning this was one of those missions until AFTER I had already accepted it. I cleaned out the mission, but left the bombs. I failed it.

For someone who WANTS to do his missions, this IS definitely forced grouping. I could have just let the timers run out on those missions and be done with it, getting only a fraction of the XP I would have gained if I had succeeded. But that's not what I WANT to do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Get ready for more of these. Would it really have been so hard as to leave the mission, ask two people to join you to simply difuse the bomb? SG mates, Friends... even on broadcast. Plus, most of these missions will tell you in orange lettering - "Bring a few friends with you" If the one you did didnt say that, Okay. Some dont - but most do. Still, its not hard to just ask someone.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Dude, we're talking about bosses here. Bosses should be soloable. Making people get a group to fight bosses (which show up in a majority of missions) is kind of extreme.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I havnt read through all 4 pages yet, so this might have been said already.

Same level or +1 bosses should be soloable to most AT's. Simple as that. Anything else, you should get the help of at LEAST one if not two others. If you have such a problem of "Forced grouping" with a friend or two - Why play MMOG anyway? Heaven forbid you might have to get someone to go with you.

Controllers are the only ones that really can't solo well. Even if they can, its takes 9 hours to go from level 2 - 6. (Exageration, I know.) But still. They CAN do it. Just have to know how.

((Disclaimer: The "you" in this post was GENERAL - not directly meant for the poster in which I quoted. ))
  22. [ QUOTE ]
"...You have to AGREE to enter combat with this other person."

So, in otherwords a /duel PvP concept where we are NOT playing a Heroes/Villains Roleplay game, but instead playing an arena game? I find the concept of that type of game to be depressing. I much prefer the idea of whole, large zones where people can actualy roleplay heroes and villains and go at it. If some lvl 40 dweeb wants to be a jerk and 'grief' low level people, then the rest of the NON dweebs band together and beat him till he stops. There will always be complete morons in any gaming community; you can't avoid that. But from what I've seen of the CoH community (at least on Virtue anyways) we have a mature player base. Now, I have no problem with there being penalties for a high level person taking down low level people, but a system where before every fight you have to click "accept" "deny"? <shudder>

    [/ QUOTE ]

It could be the same as in entering a zone, in entering a "PVP Hazzard Zone" you have auto consented to allow and engage in combat. I like the zone idea better then I like "arena/accept gump popping up" type of a thing. How those would work, I dunno. I dont like the whole "The Hallows PVP" names - Im sure better names would come up, but still when you enter that area you have to be a certain level, and a gump comes up that tells you it IS a pvp and you CAN be killed, you agree by simply entering. Perhaps even restricted leveling it, Only levels 8 - 16, if your 17 you get a message "Go fight someone your own size!". Who knows. I also like the idea of penalties if you PvP anyone ___ levels below you.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Lets just try and relate what you said above to the current PvE we have now. What does a 10th level hero do when he sees a 40th level mob? Runs like Heck. What will that 10th level hero do if that 40th level mob then chases him down and kills him over and over and over again. That's right, Lord Recluse he quits the game forever...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but this statement just struck me as rather dumb. Not saying you are.. but come on. The DEV's have more commen sense then to open "random PVP" where level 50's can come and pulverize Altas park. Give them a little faith in that at least. Its not gonna turn into Ultima Online where the moment you step foor outside police bots POOF your dead.

There's been a lot of talk about PvP being zone/Arena based. Right now its going into the Arena stage, I think the better Idea is zone based - I think a "Hazzard zone" would be a great Idea for it but level base them. I dont think it should be something that restricts higher levels from entering or participating but I do think that ALL PVP should remain consentual - thus, You have to AGREE to enter combat with this other person. You see a level 50 wanting to PvP in atlas - say no, stick your tongue out and go "neener neener neener!"
  24. I have to agree. I dont like it either. A level 2 should know they have NO chance against a level 50. A level 50 would be MORE then skilled enough to avoid ANY attack from a level 2 - whether its one level 2 or 20 level 2's.

Now, I agree to a SMALL range, in that "dealing damage" suggestion. Such as... perhaps a 6 level range. If your within 6 levels you HAVE a chance - the more levels you are away from the person you are up against. The harder it is.

I have no Doubt in my mind that if I went and tried to fight against someone with a blackbelt, they'd be able to block every move I made. Its that simple. The idea that even a level 20 could do damage to a level 32 is also a bit 'out there'. They should have a very small chance of doing any damage at all. But, its not exactly a completely bad Idea. I just think that a "Range" should be put in... 6 levels would be good. The Further away in levels the less chance you have to hit them (unless your above them in level and then still normal PvM accuracy should apply but no more then lets say 85% chance of hitting them no matter what level above them you are).
