I bought COH through steam and reactivated my accout but it activated an EU account I had but i dont like playing on EU servers because alot of people don't speak english, my main character is on a US account but now it seems i have to buy the game again just to get to my main character.

NCSOFT hasn't been much help and im still waiting for steam to get back to me.

Problems like this wouldn't happen though if there weren't 2 seperate games, every other MMO has EU and US servers that are accessible by everyone

Just wait till support get back to you. i'm sure they will sort it out so you can play on the US servers again.

I will say that you must've been on one of the French or German servers when you tried the EU servers as there's loads of English speaking people on Union and Defiant ( the 2 English servers)

CoV PvP VG = Disruption - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
Global = @Rent & @Rent.

NCSOFT support have passed the buck onto steam support, it only took them over a week of getting my hopes up to do it, so just waiting for steam to get back to me now.

I had a brief play and I suppose the one saving grace of loosing a high level char with the pre order bonuses is the XP farming i've heared so much about, at least that way im only loosing the pre order stuff.

Are you sure you're not on the French and German servers by mistake?
I'd say like 95% of players on Defiant and Union speak English.

I only playe briefly but I've always stuck to US servers based on past experiences with MMO's and EU servers.

Whats the best english speaking server to join? I haven't been playing while i've been trying to get this account issue resolved, I think it would be best for me to cut my losses now and start playing, ive lost a week of gametime already.

just wondering, does the US have non-English servers as well? I'd imagine a Spanish one might go over well?

@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.

No, they're all English - but there are Spanish and French Canadian SGs around.

Well I would wish that they moved the servers to where the US servers are (not merging). Updated our startfile and allowed the US to play on EU and Eu on US.
Thus when we start up we get a list like this:
Choose your server:
(insert all US server names)
Defiant (Eu)
Union (Eu) (or/and even with the RP tag)
Vigilance (FR)
Zukunft (DE)
Perhaps even a spanish server.

Since the EU servers would be linked with the US then many Global names would be in need of change. however since there was no merger of the servers we will keep our names.
Feedback in the MA will be easy and non problematic.
And hopefully one of our test servers could be moved with us. This way we would not loose our veteran badges or rewards, bases or anything. We would be one. (ok except for the one fact that we still would have two forums, unless that too got linked up. And increased support for all times in the day .. etc..
Perhaps even giving a new badge "We are one" or "United" or something to all chars.

Well that is what I hope would happen.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and what I'd like to see is what you've outlined above, but for global, perhaps append an EU- or US- tag to global names, channel names, etc. Post server-list merge, there would be a few options; either have all global names and channels created on the former EU servers continue to be appended with EU and the old US ones with US, or make it selectable.

While it wouldn't be the end of the world to lose global names and channels, it'd be a real pain to get back in touch with everyone, and re-establish a new identity. This could work around it - and then none of us would lose anything, but we'd all end up with more servers to play on.

Ideally, if this were to happen, I'd like the two English-speaking EU channels to be marked En-UK or something along those lines, so people would know they were generally English-speaking, but UK time zone rather than the ones that are bound to have more people on at US times.

I'm talking language here, really. UK to signify British English rather than American English, which is the intended language of the two servers. No one really says "European English" do they? I was imaging the two others would just be FR and DE, so no region tag on any, just language tags.

(Also, I did say "English-speaking servers" in my post, I know they're full of you moon-landers. Now sign in and do a TF or something. )

Makes more sense to me if it has to do with localisation, so it would be En-EU. I still hate the fact that this blasted board is uk.boardscityofvillains.com, at least eu.cityofvillains.com works.

See, I was thinking of it the other way around, that'd we might be able to help the French server by not bringing localisation into it too much; the French Canadians might be quite happy to have a French-speaking server available.

At the same time, I'd like it to be clear which area each set of English-speaking servers was originally from, mostly to help people find the ones that speak the version of English they prefer, but also to help find the one that's likely to be populated at the right sort of time. I figure En-UK and En-US accomplish both.

why not just UK and US. since there is only one english.

We live in a PC - Politically Correct- environment nowadays, they'd get slated if they didn't "distinguish" the difference to be honest.

ok so lets have FR, DU, EN, AM. so we can tell the difference. its not like americans speak the same language as us most of the time.

they could change as much NPC dialogue as they can to Dick Van [censored]* Mockeney "allo merry pawpins" for the english speaking servers.

As a non British citizen I find this offensive. I still think the servers should be En-US, En-EU or US/ EU. Heck best would be AM/ EU.

Frankly i care little for it being en US or UK or even EU (serious most of us dutch have a terrible english accent), i rather see just 1 total server.

Yet, as seen in all URL's, UK seems to be the 'EU side' of CoX. (uk.xxx) So in such, UK/US seems valid. Amazed me they didnt use a co.uk or sortlike
