American English... American
English/British English... English
Australian English... English

Note only the Americans call our similar language something different, like they invented it.

This is the same as Americans winning the 'Battle of Britain' because Hollywood said so!

why not just UK and US. since there is only one english.

As a non British citizen I find this offensive. I still think the servers should be En-US, En-EU or US/ EU. Heck best would be AM/ EU.

Frankly i care little for it being en US or UK or even EU (serious most of us dutch have a terrible english accent), i rather see just 1 total server.

Yet, as seen in all URL's, UK seems to be the 'EU side' of CoX. (uk.xxx) So in such, UK/US seems valid. Amazed me they didnt use a co.uk or sortlike

HA! You're kidding right? Most native-Dutch I've met speak English at least as well as a lot of native-UK folks I know. And I like the accent.
More of you certainly speak english a hell of a lot better than most of us speak dutch.

Before this gets too derailed (maybe too late? ), I'd just like to make the point that regardless of the exact naming conventions, I'd really like to see this happen and think it would be of great benefit to us all.

I'd hate Paragon to get put off doing this over people arguing over naming conventions. Ideally, I'd like them to make some sort of call over whether servers should be marked to show intended language or intended location/time zone, or a bit of both, so people tend to end up on servers they'll enjoy being on. But really, the details are far less important than a server list merge in the first place!

They should really make it say French, European-English, Dutch, German, etc instead of FR, EU, etc. It's misleading, didn't a new subscriber not like the game cause he didn't know what server english was on.

In SWG the American servers did not have a tag, while european english speaking servers where tagged EU, even better the system used by WoW might be implemented. Have all the English speaking servers on one tab with marks for RP servers, EU, and EU-RP. Then different tab(s) for FR and DE servers.

PS: Might be over sensitive to British nationalism trends since I've lived a large part of my life in the UK.

Hold on, why are we arguing over whether it's European or UK English. It's English. And the other is American English. I don't see you wanting to call it European French, or European Spanish.

For me its about the europe server is valid to be called 'EU' server, while the website clearly has a uk. in the url. Though it happen to have a german and french server, it remains far far far from being a 'EU' server.

(morelike a UK server with alternate languages).

(such as WoW, has wow-europe, not fr.wow.com - main office is in france).

This is because we are interested in it's localisation, if we had a french canadian server, or latin america spanish speaking server, further clarification would be required.

You are.

As you well know, I've not even lived in the UK most of my life, and I'm one of the least nationalistic people you'll come across. I was just thinking in terms of language, and defining the servers we already have on that basis. I even said "English-language" servers in my post as I know a few people get upset otherwise, so I certainly wasn't meaning anything else by En-UK.

It's certainly worth considering whether it's also worthwhile defining them by locale, though, given the tendency for servers to be a bit dead in the middle of the night for their prime time zone(s).

yeah, but they could have US-Spanish and an EU-Spanish servers, so that Spanish speakers from both sides of the Atlantic could play with people speaking the same language who'd be online at the same times, just like US and EU English speaking servers. Similarly an EU French server could be for France, Belgium, etc whilst a North American French server could be for those Canadian players who speak the language. I don't see that any of that would be a bad thing, aside from the possibility of splitting the user-base. Certainly don't see it'd be an issue with the US servers, they've got bloomin' loads don't they? This side of the pond it might have more of an impact.
