If it's being run from the US can we even be sure that GR is being told about downtime? ANd if my clockwatching is correct it's still pretty early in the US, so it's possible that Avatea (or any other community people with access to EU boards) may not be in work yet or may only just be being told...
It's bad that we're getting 30min ingame but it's not certain that it's GR/Avatea failing us on this score.
(And, IIRC, GR is leaving around the end of the month - so they may be trying to organise communications without relying on his role anymore)
EDIT: Also this may well be temporary - I14 launched too early and the MA service is very possibly being thrashed harder than the devs ever thought... so plenty of bugs/problems/improvements to make that probably need dev attendance - so are pretty much bound to US time.

The big shake up turning NC Brighton into a small branch of marketing - see past announcements(Nov/Dec?? or was it more recent??).
It's what saw Avatea move to the uS and start looking after our boards.
And we just about never get timely patch notes... think it's still blamed upon translations being needed. It's usually best to see the US boards or wait for someone to copy th euS patch notes here.

There really is no excuse for not informing us really not in work yet that bites the biscuit. I run my own company i have my own customers, if i ever did what these guys do to my customers i wouldnt be earning money .It's a fact of life customers want information can they give it out before sugar hits the fan for 2 years apparently not
Without much known info I'm guessing some sort of hot fix has been applied today which meant the servers went down outwith their standard time (going by this forums server maintenace thread - last updated Jan 09).
I looked very briefly at the US forums and couldn't see a thread for todays patch.
While its an inconvience its to be expected tbh, after all theres fewer people looking after us now and it wasn't particulary good prior to the cost cutting measures.
A part of me is hoping that these minor fixes arent to purge the MA by deleting "exploit" arcs, or are they able to do a mass bringdown without bringing the system down?

It would be nice to have an announcement on the patcher a few days before hand....that is after all a logical thing to do if there's going to be down time isn't it?
I find it frustrating ...
NCsoft you need to alert people in advance, we as players have events and tasks we organize ourselves and this blatant disregard for informing your community of server down time is a failure in company/customer relations.
OK Im done. 
And we think we have it bad. Imagine the servers going down at 10pm on a Friday night 
Really NCSoft seem to adopted a "whatever suits us best" approach with little thought gone into how it affects non-US based accounts.
In a way yes but not just those, there are obviously a ton of different exploits possible in the MA for solo powerlevelling if done correctly.

Yes, insulting people will surely help ...
But I agree that this is getting annoying. I understand and accept that the patches are necessary. I even don't mind that much that it happens in the middle of the day, but they should at least let us know (in game, on the updater, on the forums, preferably all 3).
I took half a day of work today because I have somewhere to be this weekend and I thought to get an hour or 2 of CoH in before leaving this afternoon. So much for that.
