Wheres the WOW factor?

The VEAT was sort of a disappointment because we where hoping for something similar to heroes, but what we got was something completely different.

What makes them good imho?
1. It's arachnos. It's fun to be able to play the actual baaa-aad guys with a nice storyline for them if you bother with it.
2. They are totally oh-sooh team oriented with team buffs and nice AoE/Cone attacks. Yes, once higher level you can solo well on them too, but for me this was a winning point. Get 8 crabs together and let the slaughter commence.

The addition of dual builds also makes us able to have two very, very different builds, so I've kept my crab and working a liiittle bit on my widow every now and then. They ARE good killers and the extra storyline and lvl 50 pretty-ok'ness makes them worth the effort.

What did disappoint me was the lack of inherent greatness (kheldian fly/tp) since the added "leadership" is [censored], you still need stamina. The team buffs wasn't too impressive either, so compared to the kheldians that have several wow-factors it felt very MEEEEEEH...

I still wouldn't mind a nictus villain, but it was still nice to see actual villain-only content since we're not treated like an important part otherwise.

I personally thing anything that rewards team play should be encouraged GREATLY, so I really liked the idea of team-buffing VEATs (and the non-crashing nuke was sort of fun) but in the end I still think they slapped it on to the game just to get it out of the way instead of taking the opportunity to do something truly spectacular. I mean, honestly, everything was already in the game, graphics (except babe soldiers/hunk widows), attacks etc.

I'm still hoping and waiting for that really good, villain-only "It's aliiive" high level content stuff and every issue without it, no matter how much co-op stuff etc they put in is likely to disappoint me and bore me fast enough to make people whine and tell me to quit the game "if you're so annoyed about it".

Now get to work devs, prove me wrong!

TBH its no wonder you find the content dull if you don't do most of it.

Personally I hate the zones and most of the villain groups in CoV and hate most of the AT's but the one thing CoV does have is a good set of story arcs, together with some nice SF's and nice maps.

As for the VEATS I really wanted one when they came out because I quite liked the costumes, but when I got one I quickly realised they aren't all that, and there are far too few costume options. The team buffs are good but only really on all VEAT teams.

I would much prefer a nictus type, but only if they are semi warshadey.

I've parked my VEAT cause I cant figure out what the hell I actually want in the build, there's too much. Same reason I parked my WS actually, but I parked my VEAT earlier

Nicti VEATs would have been a complete Kheld copy-paste, much the same as pain domination was, with a few 'evil' bits nobbled on. I agree that its annoying that the options for VEAT costumes is limited; no helmet-less Soldiers, No widow butt-capes, no adding of personal effects, etc. Only one armoured costume.

But at least they are definately villain-y. I like kheldians as well (now I've found you can actually play them without being too dead ) but had they simply given as us all-purple-and-red Kheld..sorry, Nictus VEATs...meh. Woulda felt even more 'slapped-on'.

Minor point. But where is the Widow specific arcs? I got a mission to put my name on the destined list. Then just the same old missions.

Every 5 levels there are arcs for the VEATS - they're all much shorter than the Kheldian ones though.

Nope. Nothing suggested I should. He gave me one mission and then passed me on.

Have a look here - there are other contacts that I think he introduces you too, before reverting back to him around level 30.

Alan Desslock is your starting contact in Mercy. You should see him at 5, 30, 35, 40 and 45. After him, talk to Brick Johnson in PO (level 10-14 missions and 2nd costume slot). Next comes Fortunata Hamilton (she's in Cap) and she'll hook you up with level 15-19 content, some 20-24 content and again at the 25-29 range.

And its a fun arc as well. Well worth the time doing even if only once. So much better then the endless: Oh look the council did something bad again, well arrest them all. What do you mean you are bored to tears about the council?

Excellent. That's more like it. Even though the character lacks the wow factor, the new arcs are very nice.

By the way, how do the VEAT arcs fit in with the whole Destined One storyline of CoV?
When you break out of the Zig, is it just assumed you were a Destined one who'd joined Aachnos, rather than a normal freelance Villains?

VEATs don't start in the Zig.

More than that, well, you could always make and alt...

I really should do something about this signature.

I'm pretty sure they can flashback to it

I already done it like 5 times now, heroes even more. The main issue with story-arcs.. travel. Over and over, back and forth, waste of time because the *$%#&$& NPC let you go talk with some other NPC at the other side of paragon city.. Cell phones guys, use them.

Heroes were way different, few story arcs are nearly all done in PI itself. Those i really enjoyed, little travel and very different then villains.

Actually since it is the first and only mission you can do when you start. I don't think it is a spoiler to say

It's true, answering either way constitutes a spoiler. Go read the missions in ParagonWiki.
