Costume Change Emotes
Problem with slash commands is that it'll activate the emote and change your costume right away. This is why when I'm doing costume changes on my character when roleplaying, I'll bring up the costumes window and select the costume and power manually.
Example: Rushmore. 18 year old teen boy transforms into patriotically clad, tall and hunky tanker. Open up costume window, hit Earth's Embrace. As it gets to the point where the two rock orbs start to appear, change costume into his hero outfit.
Aye this can easily be done with a bit of forethought. Many sets have some sort of aura power, or you can get whirlwind. I have costumes changes bound to the numpad, and so just hit the key at the appropriate time.
Special emotes wouldn't go amiss though.
Can't you just make a bind of an emote like the halloween pumpkin one combined with a costume change?
Usually not, because synchonizing it is darn near impossible. Hence the manual mechanism Zortel explained.

Maybe some sort of macro would be nice then. I've never got the hang of the little watsits, but a Macro that used an emote, possibly a new one and, at a certain designated point, it changed the costume to a pre-defined one.
But yeah, for now its the good ol' manual flip n switch
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

The manual method is more flexible, tbh.

Well, I often use the flip emote and then press the designated key on my keyboard for changing costumes. So if they just could add emotes like smoke pellet for example I'd be happy.
(the halloween pumpkin is nice...except for the part where you turn into a pumpkin, except if you move during the emote which requires good timing)

This one is easily achievable for dominators. You can create a bind or macro so that when you activate domination you change your costume. It looks pretty seemless because of the flash animation when you hit dom. Not too great from an rp perspective I guess as you need dom charged so it can't be used at will but it's still pretty fun and great for those Jekyll & Hyde type concepts.
I like this idea /signed
As for the mechanics of it, if they add this as part of the cossie selection in ICON/FACE they can build the deley into the cossie swap for the effect to occur.
Not knowing the code of course I've no idea how much work that'll be.

I can't keep running around the corner to get changed, and there aren't enough open phone booths for me to dash into.
A smoke pellet, a flash, a spinning around emote - these are all brilliant ideas. It's even MORE necessary now that we have 'day jobs', and are more likely to go from civilian clothing to spandex-goodness. Costume to costume was one thing - civvies to super-hero is another.
Yes - it's about time we have costume changing emotes!

I like it as an idea. I think it needs a little work to iron out the bugs but on the whole a big thumbs up from me.

I wrote a program that simulates sync'd button presses some years ago. It was a kind of macro thing for MMOs. Never released it because I know it would be misused.
Yea it's a neato idea. Add an option tied to the costume what the effect to changing into that costume will be.
Like a quick spin around. Drop a smoke bomb at feet. Or just for silly factor, make a phone booth appear and you'll run in there and change. Even some anime style transformation thingie with naked intermediate (like in W.I.T.C.H for example would be funny, tho i guess it'd have to be censored
Another thing i would like to see is being able to tie a power into a cossie. Like Moment of Glory for example, when activeating it, i'd change into a cossie, then when it runs out, i'd change back to the cossie i had before.

Not to mention that it's against the EULA.

If that is the case then use of the G15 is against the use of the EULA as you can also record macros (and edit existing ones) to introduce a time delay.....
I sometimes use Nova to change cossies, but I love the idea of a cossie change emote....especially if it was combined with a proper alter ego cossie and a walk emote.....would be great for doing a proper Superman style change down an alleyway
We built this city on Rock and Roll!
I'd love this

That is ok to macro if the power in question is a toggle, I've done it for one of my villans who changes from a snappy suit to a winged vampire when he flys. You just need two macros, one to costume change and turn the toggle on, and one to change the costume back and de-toggle the power.
Come to think about it, i have done a similar thing for 'Unstoppable' with my /Invuln. brute as well, but I have to catch the macro to change him back when it is running out.
I will post up the macro text if people want.
I would like some fancy animations to go with them though
Gotta say I can't see why some people are opposed to this, I think it's a clever and simpl idea, I think take away the pumpkin from the /alakazamreact and add that spin from the advert amongst other cool (but not as flashy as powers) emotes would be awesome. Do it the manual way if you wish, but I think in terms of RP this adds...
I've wanted this for ages and the addition of day-jobs and their related costumes makes this even more important to me.
In the meantime some workarounds that I've used include:
/em alakazamreact (as people have said)
/em flip (ditto)
teleport (either the human or warsahde version)
Dual Blades/Typhoon's Edge - mild mannered police officer draws magical blades and then changes into costume as he spins in the air
Storm Summoning/Thunderclap: Mild mannered.. (oh you get the picture).. slowly builds up, claps hands and then once the blinding flash of light has cleared is in costume
Illusion Control/Superior Invis: Fades from view briefly then returns in full costume (unfortunately normally to fade from view again...)
Illusion Control/Flash: same as Thunderclap..ish
Fiery Aura/Healing Flames. (Rise of the Phoenix would work really well if you didn't have to be...err..dead to start off with).
Energy Blast/Nova (although you probably dont want to waste this one).
Peacebringers' Pulsar and Dawn Strike
Etc. Etc.
So, actually, now I've worked through this an alternate way to implement it would be to add costume change powers into specific powersets. All the powers would do is activate an animation and then it would be easier to bind a costume change and the costume change effect-power together...
There's no reason why each set couldn't have at least one costume change effect specific to that powerset. Or, if the devs were feeling really generous you could have one at lvl 1 and then gain a new one when you get a cape and another one when you get an aura...
Ever wondered how our costumes stay so clean and shiny given everything we put them through?
Then you need to try out Spandex Crisis (Arc ID 32943)
The animation for an ice charactercould be the 'ice armour' (that cryo armour from siren's has the animation I'm talking about) swirling up around the character, and then as it 'swirls down', you're in your next costume

I'm not against it, but fitting something in as an automatic system would require delaying the costume change to a certain point in the animation. Each animation would have a different change point. Currently costume switching is 0/1/2/3/4 (if you have a salvage slot), that happens instantly. With an inbuilt system you then need to add the code to go change animation begin wait change costume animation ends.
It'd be cool, but I don't see it getting added just yet, and those who want to in the meantime, say an Elec/Elec blaster could fire off Short Circuit/Thunder Clap/Power Sink/Lightning Field and change costume manually.
How about adding certain special emotes (like smoke pellet or the flash animation from the illusion set) as recipe drops....you know just like costume pieces?
Animation unlocking recipes?
I suppose you can get 'extra' emotes with bonus packs.

We are already very creative with power effect and the moment to change the cozzy.
It should only help if there where emotes that where tailor made for this.
The Alakazam effect but with =out the pumpkin.
The whirlwind animation without the power effect.
A mist emote
A thunderstrike emote with a more blinding center
As long as the complete covering moment in the animation is a few seconds longer it will be easily usuable to manual select the cozzy you want to change in.

Ok, I dont often visit this part of the forums much, so forgive me if this has been gone over before.
Partially inspired by the most recent CoH mac ad/video, how about the idea of having range of different costume change emotes that trigger when you change costume. I can think of a couple that would be really cool:
The wonder woman spinning around in a blur for a few seconds
Throwing a smoke bomb at your feet
A large energy flash
Im sure that people can think of more. They would have to be big and clourfull enough to cover the actual change.
They could either be put in as slash commands so that they can be put in macros or they could be some part of the interface, like having one for each costume chosen at the Taylor or having one chosen from a drop-down list on the character select screen.
I have no idea how practical it would be, as I know nothing about game design or graphics/animation. But it would be cool.
