Thing is, it's fairly easy to do with a macro or binds.

/macro lft, "t $target, Hi, any room for level $level $archetype?"

/macro lfm, "t $target, Hi, want to join level $level ish team for missions?"

Search. Click. Spam.

Not rocket science.

I've only been playing this game a few weeks but I'm struck by how difficult it is to find a team. I've tried forming teams myself but I'm put off by the rude and arrogant people who believe you should send them a begging letter before they gran their permission for you to send them an invite. I mean why?

If you don't want a team don't sit in the 'looking for team' section. It's pretty simple. You also get the option to refuse when an invite is sent. Why do you want to waste my time and spoil my fun, making me stop playing and spend all my time sending stupid messages?

Whenever I see the 'mo blinds tab' I know the person is rude and arrogant so I just don't invite.

[/ QUOTE ]

When you get to 50 and you get random invites while your trying to sell in wentworths from people 20-30 levels lower, you will understand better

I agree with the comment about 'dont sit in the looking for team section if you dont want a team' though, it is frustrating to think you might be able to fill the team up until half the people you ask refuse anyway or just dont bother to reply.

A lot of these issues could be solved by improved invite messages on the actual game though as mentioned above, for instance instead of:
'player has invited you to team. Do you want to join?'
It could be changed to:
'player has invited you to join a team. There are currently x players in the team ranging from levels x to y. Do you want to join?'

I deliberately left the area out because if the team is in more than one zone it would cause issues but theres no real reason why it could work like that and save going through each person in the list and sending a message that half of them dont even bother to reply to.

i find if you just send the tell "hi u lft all?" then immedietely send the invite regardless then you can fill a team in a mish or 2. I'm pretty sure thats not far off being a blind invite but noone has ever said anything.

[/ QUOTE ]

I take it all back. Tonight after sending an invite to 'player_x' I received a snotty tell regarding my rudeness.

player_x also suggested that no reply from him/her to the 'hi there, u lft at all?' meant 'not interested'.

After a lengthy discussion we came to the agreement that I would try not bother player_x in future. To ensure I was true to my word I popped player_x on global ignore.

2 minutes later a teammate said in team chat.........

"Player_x is lft"

I would suggest that Player_x had made his/her bed and that now he/she has to [censored] off in it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Your completly right with that, more than once now though fighting for the other side, ive had many blind invites when my search comment clearly says 'no blinds' usually from players level 1-10, which i refuse then get spammed over and over again. Usually these people have the same global name as the charecter so im guessing there trial noobs but it is very frustrating.

Now its got to the point where if i recieve a blind invite and i have no idea who its from more than once, they will just get added to ignore.

I dont agree with the snotty tells to a blind invite, but truth is, its common courtesy to at least be friendly towards people.

End of day though, if you dont mind blind invites, fine, but if you cant be bothered writing a simple message saying 'hi you lft atm? level x team going in y area' then you dont really have a right to complain when people cant be bothered joining the team with something that could easily be done.

Can't actually recall all the restrictions on trials but I'm pretty darn sure that trial accounts cannot send tells or use global - so it would be impossible for a trial to send a tell before inviting.

tbh if you think it's a trial it'd be better to reply - they may be more newbs than noobs (as you put). A quick reply saying 'no thanks' (and maybe pointing out the comment in search) is possibly a better impression for a true trial (i.e. brand new player) and may actually stop them annoying everyone else...

btw - it's fine putting 'no blinds' but this was my 1st MMO and I had no idea what 'no blinds' meant when I started. I'm guessing that some (not all but some) trial accounts will be in a similar position and so may be blind inviting through ignorance rather than stupidity/rudeness. I'd also suggest changing from 'no blinds' to something more like 'send tell 1st please' as that's easier to understand if you're unused to MMO terminology!

I think trials cannot even send team invites, they have to invited. Not sure on that tho.

Why I covered myself with the "Can't actually recall all the restrictions on trials" line.

I can't recall them, but it wouldn't surprise me either way on invites - though it'd probably be better if trials can invite other trials (so friends trying it out together could team).

Even if trials can't invite, the post still stands for new players who've bought the game (which is what I did - no reviews, no trial, no research - I'd just fancied the game for about a year ever since I saw it in a shop).

IIRC, they can't unless someone sends them invite, then transfers the star and waits a little until the team is more than 2 people before quitting. I may be wrong though.

I don't at all mind people sending tells asking if I want to join a team (mostly, it just reminds me that I need to put myself on /hide). But it does bemuse me that a couple of times when I've sent my standard 'No, thanks', I've got a reply of 'why not?' Uh...because I don't want to, maybe?

You know, that's WAY ruder than them sending a blind, and could easily get you petitioned...

Not really.
A simple "NO" is enough.

People sending a blind invite might have just missed the note, or might just be really new and don't understand what it means yet.

If they are persistant, it can be annoying. And i know i've been rude when that happens. But saying that right off the bad is just you being worse than they are.

ps.
It's really not ok to be rude at all. But i'd be a hypoctie if i said that. hehe. I'm a b***h.

An eye for an eye, if you're rude enough to not be bothered sending a little tell to ask if someone's after a team, then I'll be rude as well.

Your call, but "he did it first" isn't a valid defence in terms of dodging penalties for EULA violations.

Especially as blind invites aren't actually EULA violations in themselves.

literally all it takes is a simple tell of "interested in a team?" to which I reply sure (with a smiley face) or "No thanks but good luck"

[/ QUOTE ]
This. I think people should have the courtesy to ask something as simple as "Hi, LFT?", which takes no more than 5 seconds to type, even if you're a slow typer. I also do think that if people take the time to ask you if you are interested in a team, you could take a few seconds to respond.

If your looking for teams for something big, say a Taskforce, I recommend joining Sals Badgehunters on Union, unfortunately I don't know the badge hunter channel for Defiant but I'm sure someone can tell you.

This is why nobody wants to have the star in a team. You have to spend ALL the time you have the star sending chat messages.

[/ QUOTE ]

You can speed this process up after you've sent your first tell by pressing enter (to start the chat line), then shift+up cursor to bring your last chat line up, then you can change the recipient's name to the next one you want to send the tell to. You can retrieve several previous lines by pressing shift+up cursor several times.

Blind invites are a pain because you never know what level the team is, what level enemies they are fighting or what kind of missions they are doing. A quick tell along the lines of "Hello mate, wanna join a level xx-yy team doing level zz missions?" will work wonders for your team building. Sure, it's a bit slower than just spamming invites, but everyone who joins will know exactly what they are getting into and your team will be much better off for it.

As you'll find out if you stick around, there's few things more annoying than joining a team only to find yourself fighting green mobs with a team 4 levels lower than yourself.

Blind invites I can live with... But blind SGing always makes me, well, want to go SiGGy on them (haven't ever actually done that though.)

That works both ways.
Why should i stop having fun and enjoy myself to stop and reject a blind invite.
A good example is yesterday when i got 5 blind invites off the same guy in the space of 15 mins.
It got so annoying i put that person on ignore and i wasn't even flagged as LFT.

until it was quoted above.

Frankly, if that is the attitude of the kind of person sending blind invites, is it any wonder people don't like them?
