VEAT

Well I have seen busier sections of the forums which must mean most people have blown through their VEATs and moved on. Maybe there is love left, I dunno, but I made 5 and yes you can get dual builds in i13 but "I've named them".

For anyone still loving their VEAT or making one there is a little known channel called VEATs. I can't remember who made it, but as things go, 10 channels ain't normally enough anyway but if anyone fancies joining it in the hopes of meeting more people for the VEAT team experience I am sure that'll be welcomed. The only flaw in it is that I haven't got a clue if its defiant based or union based and as you can imagine the number of villains is low, the number of lvl 50 villains is lower still and the number of VEATs still played is lower again, but its something that maybe worth a shot trying given time.

I'm still playing my Bane/Huntsman and I have to say he's my favourite character to play right now. I just find the design of the soldier and its two off-shoots to be genius and full of tough decisions - I'm still not certain whether to siphon the Huntsman and Bane parts into separate builds come i13.

I was actually considering trying to organise a regular team come i13 for those that missed the boat so to speak with the early i12 teams - I fancy trying my hand at a crab spider.

Oddly I never quite got into the widow side of things - he's sitting at 22, making ever so occasional progress towards the magic 24 to see if that manages to spark some interest.

Thanks for mentioning the VEATs channel - I'll have to check that out

I have a Crab Spider who I duoed with a friend (who was on another Crab Spider) all the way to 50. It has to be probably one of the most fun experiences I've had so far.

Recently, I got into a team of:
Crab Spider (me)
Crab Spider (friend)
Bane Spider
Wolfspider
Night Widow
Fortunata
(and one brute, and a forcefields MM but whatever)

Needless to say, def went through the roof, AVs fell easily with all the -res and -regen (not to mention all the spiders had achilles heel scattered in their builds). I've been spoiled since that day and normal teaming just feels so... drab. XD At the moment, I'm egging my SG on to all build their VEATs faster so we can do all-VEAT SFs

If thats the team I think it was it was a lot of fun with my Fire/Fire brute being anything but his normal squishiness with all the extra defence buffs.

Have played before in a team which started out at 4 veats and a stalker in the late 20s and developed into 8 veats which was a lot of fun at the time

Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant

I started a VEAT a while after I12 came out because I didn't have a vill 50 yet, but when I got a Bane to lvl 7 I got bored. My widow didn't go past lvl 2.

Tbh when you have a Arachnos kinda AT you are always limited to what could be "super". That's why IMHO a Nictus AT would be more logical.

But I will join the VEAT channel and I will try again. I probably won't get any farther than last time, but what they hey, you always have to go back to the ATs that got boring after a while...

The common points between veats and heats is that you need at less one 50 to begin it (so newbies can't try them).
So it means much less questions than other ats ^^

Happy gamers don't post much on forums. The devs should take this as a compliment.

Anyone on Union who roleplays and has a VEAT, the Krimzon Guard is always looking for new members =] ( email Krimzon Commander or global @Techbot ALPHA )

And yes, the VEATs do gell together absurdly well. Anyone who argues the lack of 'epic' simply has to watch a team of them at work. Absolutely lethal.

The VEAT forums aren't busy because there's not enough to complain about when it comes to them. They're just that well designed.

In other words - what Iaculus said. I love my Crab.

I'll keep an eye out for it; since I12 I've barely played anything other than my Crab and my Widow. Cannot believe how much I'm looking forward to also playing my Bane and my Fortunata!

I'm gonna be a dissenting voice here then, because I find the VEATs to be very disappointing.

They have [censored] costume options - we've been cheated on that, and half-arsed stories from what I can tell.

Those combined really ruin it for me

Allow me to clarify. The costumes of themselves are great but you only get one and you cannot mix it with anything else so you get short changed because of alleged "poor clipping" and because Jay thinks it looks "unprofessional."

I'd argue that it's my call as to whether my character looks unprofessional and not being able to use elements of the VEAT costumes in other character slots is a rip - and only getting one VEAT outfit is short changing the punter.

...that he isn't brilliant at mixing costume pieces together?

Sorry, I have to agree with Scarlet here. IMHO the VEAT's customization could have been taken further.

Also, Mr. Blitzkreiger, I disagree with "they've been produced so well". Tbh they felt a bit bland to me and they were using the same powers we see like all the grenades, claws, etc. Just felt a bit more work could have gone into it. Also I support the need for VEATs needing a buff.

You can see that VEATs felt rushed with the lack of deep customization and "unique" powers. I'm hoping that I14 will bring them some love (also some REAL love to PvP and bases, the I13 changes are not enough or they suck).

Actually the characters DO belong to us I think you'll find, but NCSoft have the rights to use them in perpetuity.

But the execution of the VEATs is frankly shoddy and half-baked IMO

He maybe brilliant at it but time is a limited resource. Limited from having better things to do.

May I just ask why VEATs need a buff? Give me a reason that isn't Bane Spider defense. You used the word VEATs so I want to hear what is wrong with all of the VEAT branches.
I cant think of anything else except Bane Spider defense.

Even bane spiders are a match for the other base ATs. they only look like they need a buff when compared to godly widows.

As someone who has now got every single veat branch to 50 and fully IO'd I think I'll comment here. VEATs as game chars are phenomenally well designed and balanced - people who believe widows are OP obviously have not played them properly as they have severe flaws that I spent an age through design plugging. Same goes for each of them tbh - they excel and fail in different areas (I could reel them off but it'd take forever lol).

Also this obscure myth that banes need a buff drives me up the [self censored due to too much swearing] creek. Mine is more than capable of taking aggro, playing as a blaster, switching to protect squishies and even go toe-to-toe with an AV with ease. He's also awesome in the arena and in RV - if yours sucks then its your need to learn the char and sort ya build.

I for one love the veats and think NC did a blinding job creating them - they made 4 new ATs effectively that is tailored for more than 1 task but each incredibly contrasting. They are also incredibly scalable and can be specced innumerate ways to suit a persons taste sooooo easily.

The fact we got a special costume I thought was awesome, ok not mixing em up I don't like, but it fits more thematically with the game I feel. To the extent my Night Widow Starsixshot was the 1st veat I made at i12 launch and to this day he STILL always wears his widow armour as the look I got for it I love more than anything else I could create for him - and I spend eternities in the tailors and cossie creator!

Thank you NC for the following fun chars: Starsixshot (NW), Starscorponok (crab), Starskalor (bane) and Starseawing (fort).
