You are right.we are missing the background story this time. Of course it isnt needed, hardly usefull, won't change the event in any way etc. But it is nice to have those. If alone for rpg reasons.
While we are at it. Most of the lower level zones have bacground stories. But the higher levels don't and that is a pity because I am really curious about quite a few things out there.
Yeah, I'm a bit baffled as to why there are zombies coming out of the ground too. GR said there was a trigger for them but it hasn't been explained or mentioned by anyone else so I'm unsure where they were going with it all.
God, you're right. I was so detached from the Halloween stuff this year (only really keen on just geting the new badges) that I didn't notice the supreme lack of story!

I assume it was something like :
"Zombies are really big right now so lets add them to CoH"
Although they've gone the other way before with ridiculous explanations for things like Powerset Proliferation so maybe we scared the story writers away.
I demand an explanation. It's not like the Government would just say "It's halloween. Expect Zombies. It'll probably pass"

Well, in the absence of any official word for why the dead are rising (maybe Hell is shut down for redecorating, or just building an extension) why not come up with one.
Besides in the films no one has a clue why the Zom's are about. Ernest discussion on bleak TV shows in these things are all just speculation, maybe something much bigger is afoot.
Personally, I blame Aspartame...we were warned.

It could be another one of those portents of the "Uncoming Storm."
Or they thought: Meh, let's do zombies.

I doubt that Nemesis plotted this thread to derail though.
Fact remains that there is no background story anymore for events. That is a shame considering the work done to make em.
It's Halloween: the barrier between dimensions has been weakened beyond what would be normal with all the Zombie destruction that has been happening in the previous years. And now, they aren't going to take it laying down any more! They're making their move and rising up from the earth just to show you how much they don't like what has been happening to them. The whole of Paragon City is an old indian burial ground, obviously.
Including slanted building roofs and mid-air, apparently (I've had them rise from both recently with my WS. Gave me quite a shock when they rose from the roof, I was up there specifically avoiding em).
I'm just glad the dead heroes of the city haven't risen from the grave. Atlas or Talos rising would be a true nigghtmare. Mind you they'd make interestiung GMs...
For those of you that remember the 1st Halloween event, the site posted a bit of background story of why it was perma night, and why the 'new' baddies were popping out of doors when you trick or treated....something to do with a spell book that the Cot or Banished Pantheon had stolen??
Anyway, now it's another halloween and there are more ToT plus the zombies....but no reason offered why. Did they sack the person that used to come up with this creative stuff? I know that the people that bother to immerse themselves in the COX backstory isn't the majority, but for those of us that do enjoy the RP elements, can I ask why this isn't offered anymore?
And don't get me started on the Winter event, the presents, and the disappearance of the Gamester!
