Offline reward system

Please say it wont be, but it has just occurred to us that the offline reward system may be like you get in other games ie Lord of the Rings Online.

If you have been offline for quite a while, you get extra experience according to how long you have been off.

This gives extra to casual players and means you only get normal experience if you are farming.

Now I couldnt care less about the farming side, but I really hope this isnt what they have in mind, as I like to get my experience the normal way, in fact on double exp weekends I tend to just do missions with my 50s to get money for purples.

Or if it is, give us the option to turn it off.

Uhm yes I have to agree here. It is way to easy to get xp nowadays as it is. I like to finish some storyarcs before i outlevel them. Not that level being level 50 is so interesting.

I'd be surprised if that's what they've got in mind. CoX is a splendid casual game and doesn't need anything to make it more so.

Hmm, now, if offline characters received salvage or receipes with time, it might be a hook to get people to log in and check their less frequent characters from time to time. But that too doesn't really feel like something NCSoft would do.

Definitely not - if it's that then I'll eat my left arm

Applying the principle of Occam's Razor I'd say this has to be a "rested" bonus to xp, just like WoW and EQ2 have - yes, we don't need it - yes, xp smoothing and debt being made inconsequential has already made levelling too fast at low-to-mid levels - but I bet that's what it is.

Though by offline rewards I guess they could mean physical items available from NC Store as prizes for achieving stuff in-game - possibly even cash rewards like WoW is doing with its PvP ladder tournament stuff. I don't think that's too likely though.

Umm also with that 4979490 (or whatever it is) days offline i will hit to 50 in one day.

What if it's like the xp boost but instead you have a damage/accuracy boost until you earn X amount of XP?

Might encourage people to go offline with a particular character to prepare for a weekend TF (dunno if that's comic feel, resting up for an important mission).

I really don't think that makes any sense at all; what with level being so unimportant in CoX and alting being so widespread. Sure, it's possible that NCSoft has made a stupid decision, but I believe they have a better understading of the game than to make a mistake like that.

What would be cool is if it ties into vet rewards. The more rewards you have ingame, the more stuff you get a discount on out of the game.

More seriously, we asked Positron last week if there was anything he could share about it at the current time. Kerensky's putting a little something together and you might find out some more about this feature when it's ready. Let's just say the word 'offline' is meaningful .

Back in the realer world, what about a steady flow of Prestige from offline SG members? Would help offset rents, wouldn't be too unbalancing at a toon level and would fit in with the SG-friendly nature that I13's rumoured to have.

.... aww go on then,.. I'd say (dream scenario) NCNC have contracted Gentle Giant or Kotobukiya to do lovely mini-statues and busts we get as the major Vet awards, or (more likely) a whole spread of really interesting (and in no way short of content:I'm looking at you Wedding Pack) future micro-transaction packs that become eligible for free as Vet awards.

offline mission creator maybe, one you can test offline?

but how would an offline mission creator be a "reward" . I though the creator was a feature available to everyone ?

Offline apartments for your characters where you can review newspaper clipings of your missions, polish badges and see character stats etc without actually having to log in to a server (local account login may be possible?).

1 apartment per character, or 1 apartment + purchasable options

just a thought
