Costumes and Helmets

Before I posted this, I was looking for ways in which to acquire the other three pre-order discs, before I realised you couldn't 'stack' them.
[/ QUOTE ]I'm pretty sure the other three couldn't be used for an EU account anyways.

Or an option for the local client to RP those warm summer days...
Sit back with a beer and watch the ladies pass by
(Yes, there's a lack of such in my home town and having to drive to go elsewhere takes away the beer bit)

If the some more people now want to share in these items, then why shouldn't they remain at least a little bit elitist and be for those who want to invest a little in NCSoft to get them?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why should someone have to pay for them when they were given away completely free in the first place? There'd be hell to pay from the players if they started dishing out the CE things like that.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
As I said in the suggestion thread is seems a little unfair on those who actually got the pre-order pack to just give away the special bits they got.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? You didn't pay anything extra to get them after all.
[/ QUOTE ]
So why didn't you get a pre-order of the game too?
I especially pre-ordered the game to get bonus items, I have bonus items that only other people who pre-ordered have got. Why should we be made less special just so those people who couldn't be bothered to pre-order can have the same stuff?
I'm all for unlockable content, I'd even say that awarding the Arachnos helmet and cape, plus the translucent cape from the CoH collectors edition is a god thing, how ever I don't think it should be free. Hell if it is given out free I want the price difference from a collectors edition back (joke BTW).
If I were a six month veteran it would be like me saying I want 48 month rewards... its not fair that others started playing before me.
[ QUOTE ]
So why didn't you get a pre-order of the game too?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because they weren't available in my area.
Out of curiosity, Syracuse, if NCSoft were to make ALL of the pre-order Arachnos helmets along with the Arachnos chest symbol and cape available as a paid add-on, would you buy it or would you not bother?

I, personally, wouldn't bother.
I just think that if something is gained for no additional cost - in this case the helmets - then I think it's incredibly silly to later ask money for them. If it was the Collectors Edition items then I could understand, but it's the pre-order helmets.
Cost doesn't have to be monetary, in this case it was time and effort. My nearest retailer is 60 miles away, that makes it a 120 mile round trip. Worse they didn't do the pre-order pack, so I looked up who did and bought the pre-order from them instead. IIRC it was play.com that did the pre-order.
Next you'll be saying you don't have the internet.
And next you'll be saying you journeyed through a terrifying storm, attacked by lions as you travelled up-hill. Both ways.
So you were able to get ahold of one. Big whoop, there's still a fair few people excluded and nor does it address why someone should have to pay for items that their peers got for free.
Actually I sat at my desk and used the internet.
I don't understand why people think they should be given everything free just because they want it. If you don't take the time or make the effort why are you still deserving of the same rewards that people who did take the time or make the effort receive?
I don't come on here demanding a free nemesis staff that I don't have access to because since I started playing I have let my account lapse on several occasions. Why is this any different? I didn't put the effort into sticking with the game the whole of the time since EU Launch (when I started playing) I don't get the rewards of someone who does.
Simple this is different because.
1. Veteran rewards technically do cost money.
2. Veteran rewards do not solely depend upon you having a participating video game store in your country.
3. They have already given the helmets to any one with a 50 villian already.

[/ QUOTE ]You could pre-order online from a different country you know.
The thing is though that now we have the VEATs the likelihood of them introducing the Arachnos helms is slim-to-none.
Though according to a few in beta of CoV the Devs distinctly told them that the Arachnos helms WOULD become available to others at a later date...
...and they have as the VEATs. In order for people to recognised the VEATs for what they are and what makes them unique (Kheldians by contrast have the glowie eye effect and shapeshifting to make them unique) the costumes will be restricted so that only those lucky enough to pre-order it will have the Wolf Spider helm (here in the EU).
Personally I'd prefer a 'villains pack' of costumes. Carnie Mask and Bustiere, 5th column face mask/helmet/body armour, Freakshow chest detail/mohawk/robotic arm etc.
Of course the likelihood of that happening is also very very slim.
I can dream though.

Which would have cost a staggering amount of money for a lot of people.
Ninja's bleating about "effort" is hilarious. There's no effort in hoping a store you can get to had the offer going on.

Hard to pre-order a game when you only learned about its existance 2 years after it was released.

No effort at all to buy over the internet rather than making a journey to a store that doesn't even have the product you want to buy. Plus what is more a lot of the internet retailers cost less than the high street retailers.

Good vs. Evil pack came with some nice toys but as I already had both games I had to buy the addon pack. Should I just have sat on the forum and whined that I should get extra content for free? After all I already had both games, I had been playing since launch in the EU of both, why should I have to pay for something others got for free?

Yeah, no effort - just luck that you can find a website which was doing the offer, or that you had a credit card for it.

Pathetic strawman. If you bothered reading the rest of the thread, you'll notice this is about making the playerbase pay for things that were once free. The Good vs Evil additions were not in a free bundle. Drop that argument.

But at least I went out and looked, I didn't just whine that I should get the content for free because I'm too lazy or stupid to actually get the pre-order pack. After all it wasn't exactly hard to look at the main City Of Heroes/Villains site and pick from a list of pre-order retailers.
[ QUOTE ]
Drop that argument.

Because you're right?
In a word no. You aren't right, you think that because I didn't spend money on something everyone else should have the same thing? I didn't spend any money to get my fifties, should everyone else get one for free? I wrote a book, perhaps not a very good one, but it cost me nothing to write, should everyone get one for free because it cost me no money? This isn't some communist utopia where everyone is equal, if you don't put the effort in, you shouldn't get the rewards. And when as you have pointed out the effort is so minimal I don't see why you are taking issue with putting effort in. Maybe you just want everything given to you on a platter.
