Handbook of the Union Universe
Please remember when creating Player pages to use -your- User page, and not create an article of your user name (*Cough*Beet*Endcough* ), I just had to move one to User:name , and also just use the [[Category:Player]] listings and no others, please, otherwise you get listed in the categories along with characters. If people really demand it and want to see the schew in Male:Female roleplayers, I'll create [[Category:MalePlayer]] and [[Category:FemalePlayer]]. Only if there's like, a ton of demand though.
Your friendly neighbourhood Spidermod will be leaving for the weekend soon, so any immediate/pressing questions, leave in this thread or send to Pious. Suggestions to add can be PM'ed and I'll work on them when I get back.
Have a safe and wikiful weekend, y'all, and try not to burn the place down while I'm gone, or throw wild frat parties. Yes Inny, I'm looking at you.

I would list her under her highest potential only, to avoid confusion but its up to you mate.

I'll move her to monstrous then; she can only go unearthly for very short bursts (Light Form FTW!).

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Love the nice new front page; I'm sure Red Commissar will get more fan mail than before now
Only tweak with it - the 'banner graphic' that's just under the main navigation and intro block at the top of the page is a wee bit too wide...
But I've got more stuff to add on, so hey, am I caring much?
Not sure what the coding is like ont he powerlevel chart...But would it be possible to give it a second coloured bar on each attribute so if you need it you can have (lets say) a blue bar representing your primary power level and a red shaded bar to represent the bossted/altered form/bots active power level.
[ QUOTE ]
Thank you for the assistances Liz, I'm sure thats a little load off Z. Concerning attributes, I totally agree. Sadly, there are still a fair few people with Monstrous power being tabled as 10/10 (Omnipotent power). In these cases, I will actually start leaving Mod Notes at the top of the page. Don't get me wrong, its okay to have an omnipotent character (although I don't know of any), and I hope I'm not coming across all Police-like, but when the character isn't even as strong as the incarnates (Statesman and Recluse) it doesn't merit the Unearthly scale let alone Godly; the inaccuracy ultimately unbalances the community effort to identify OOCly, who's scaled where and how. Yes Tygerboy, Tyger I'm looking at you! (kidding now go edit!)
Oh and @Spurr, yes you'll need a totally new Box so if you think you're up to the job, copy some codes from here and fiddle around with it (just be careful not to break anything or better still, view the page while logged out) if not, tell me what you're trying to achieve and I'll help you design the custom Box mate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cool , shall poke around thanks mate.
**Gets out the larke stick of poking, and the hammer of fixing**
I appreciate your enthusiasm Liz, but I'd very much appreciate it if you didn't edit my characters pages and add them to categories without permission. I notice you quickly rectified one of your mistakes, but I'd still prefer you consult me before editing about my character, which, no offence to you, you have never even spoken to.

Okay, first conflict of the moment.
Gender and Sexuality section.
I for one am unhappy of the changes made to this section. I -did- say on my user:talk page that I would -prefer- it to be handled after the weekend, when I am not on holiday and have more access to MSN (For real time conversations with the parties involved) and the Wiki itself (for obvious reasons.)
To go into detail of my disagreements:
Gender:
Intersexed and Hermaphrodite are the same thing. Intersexed is the prefered term to use for someone who is between the genders of Male and Female, also known as a hermaphrodite.
Someone who is of -neither- gender would be considered asexual. A worm is asexual, being neither male or female, and reproduces via asexual reproduction.
Sexuality:
Transgender should not be listed under here. Transgender should be listed under Gender. Hence the end bit. Of course, it doesn't matter if someone is male to female or female to male, -but- a transgender category under Gender would be good for people who are searching the wiki and wonder "Gee, I wonder if there are any transgendered heroes?" just like they would for archers or buisnesspersons or any such other thing. Take for example Storm Sapphire's page. Storm Sapphire went from being Female to Male. Hence he would have the categories Male and Transgender. This means that anyone searching for male would have him come up in that list, and anyone searching for transgendered characters would have him come up in that list.
I apologise for any inconsistencies or confusion on my talk page, but at the time I was preparing to head away from home at the weekend and had to find out travel information as well (and we all know what customer helplines are like )
Hopefully we can rectify this category situation soon and get on with business as usual.

I've removed the sexuality catagory tags from my character entries, and I'm not going to add them to any new ones.
I find it enough that it's listed in the box

I too have removed the sexuality categories enforced into my three profiles. For me, its enough that its stated in the CharacterBox and editing my profile without prior discussion is something I consider impolite. I don't actually understand the sudden focus on sexual categories, either. I hope we can clear this up quickly, with minimal confusion.
I don't really understand why the sexuality tag is there to be honest, why does it matter who somebody prefers to sleep with?
Take A Gander At This.
The answer to your question Vox, is it doesn't matter at all. Lets not even begin to discuss that issue, we don't want to make this little mess something that its not. Simply put, somebody's acted on an idea that was not thoroughly discussed and the site moderators'll deal with it (hopefully behind the scenes and away from this thread). Bare with us while we sort things out, but in the mean time, simply erase whatever unwanted categories you find coded to the bottom of you profile and lets speak nothing of it.

[/ QUOTE ]I'm actually unhappy about this too (not enough to cry Doom or make cursive gestures since it's only a reference piece). Of course I'm the only one who has a categorised character in that section
The original page I had made was called Intersexual and the description went "Those that are both male and female. A less derogitory way of saying hermaphrodite or herm" (you should be able to check the history). Ironically it was changed to Hermaphrodite and wiki-linked to a definition which does have a section about herm being replaced.

hmm.. let me say first that I thought it was ok to change some. Obviously I missed the last remark until after I did the changes in Z's talk page.. or I would have waited.
My motivation on this...
I totally agree that sexuality shouldn't be a category at all.. It's not needed to be. Were not americans who need to place people in corners for stuff like that. But...
As we already had it. It had to be on the template and on everyone or else the whole category would be unnecisary as it wouldn't be complete.
The transgender was placed under the original LGBT category as sexuality. I left it there.
Intersex is defined on the wiki pages as a being with both genders but both non-developed and thus as none, while hermaphodite is having both genders fully functional. If there is a better name for physically without sex... lets hear it. As we need that option.
Ok.. if it was up to me I would go for leaving this sexuality category totally out. It's not needed and sometimes even unwanted. We're not a dating side anyway. I just made it more logical based on what we had.
ps. As its now roughly setup. We can make a solid descision on this after a good discussion. We should do that real soon because adding category tags to pages will become harder and harder with more pages being added every day.
pps. A dbase using categories should always have records that fit in one. Or else you will get 'floating' records. Thats the whole point of a category.
pps. Also noticed that some don't know the difference between sex and sexuality... as there sometimes is filled in male at sexuality. I haven't repaired any of those mistakes though.
pssst... if I did anything wrong. Accept my appologies. Adding a new category that involves all profiles isn't easy. I just went on auto on it.

that was the motivation and what I dit...
Raises two questions then...
- Do we keep the category 'sexuality' or remove it on all pages? (As category, not in the profile itself)
- What word are we going to use for a character that has no sexual organs like some Angels and/or Demons, and maybe an odd alien or two. And intersex as term instead of hermaphrodite is oke by me... missed the part where it said it had become the preferred word.
These should be descided on... before we do anything else with it. I will get Z on msn asap for this. And i like to read youre opinion on it here. Please give one so we can count votes.

Alright.
My vote is on removing sexuality and just having that in the Character Box, and then having 3 entries in the category box:
Male, Female, Other
Other is broad enough to cover a wide scope of things, without the need for several categories to cover all the logical ones.
What say others on this?
((Also, I admit and apologise that my discussion on my talk page midday yesterday was a little harried and disjointed, and I apologise for that and any confusion caused. >.<)
As for Re: Why it was there in the first place. As I think I mentioned elsewhere, it was on the American site, and I must admit, I used that search category on the other site, just wondering about the scope and numbers of heroes that side of the boarder. Just as I did a search for archer characters, or businesswomen. I'm like that. :P
The section potentially seems more trouble than it's worth though, so I'm all for getting rid of that area of categories.
Oh yeah, I missed it out somewhere, but we now have over 100 character profiles. Woo!
Found out the name..
The terms third gender and third sex describe individuals who are considered to be neither women nor men, as well as the social category present in those societies who recognize three or more genders.
The state of being neither male nor female may be understood in relation to the individual's sex, gender role, gender identity or sexual orientation. To different cultures or individuals, a third sex or gender may represent an intermediate state between men and women, a state of being both (such as "the spirit of a man in the body of a woman"), the state of being neither (neuter), the ability to cross or swap genders, or another category altogether independent of male and female. This last definition is favored by those who argue for a strict interpretation of the "third gender" concept.
So hermaphrodite becoames 'intersex' and no sex is 'third gender'
Makes gender
Female, Male, third gender, Intersex
Really glad you agree with me on removing the sexulity tag.

I believe the word you're looking for is "Androgyne". An androgynous person is someone who is neither male nor female.

Hm... I should actually make it clear, I was not bothered in the least by the sexuality tag, I was bothered slightly that it was added to my char without anyone asking me so fast. That said it's a wiki so I expected editing to happen, just not that fast!
I don't mind the sexuality tag, I actually had some fun looking out of curiosity who else is bisexual, was kind of disappointing, for every six female bisexuals one male.. *sigh*
PS: If I really wanted my characters sexuality to remain vague I would not have included it anywhere on the profile

Pious. I've added some extra boxes for Miss Ellie for the different forms. Her power scales change in other forms, so is it best to leave her in her human form scale section, or add her to the higher scale as well?
