Yeah. I wandered into RV a few days ago and found it empty aside from me, so I grabbed a Heavy and, I guess, started 'farming.'

I ambled through three turrets before being 'saved' from getting turned into glue by Recluse or someone (again) by the arrival of a villain.

This is fine by me since I go into RV knowing that it's a PvP zone and I may end up in a fight with another PC. I can't help but think that some of the 'farming' is just people arriving and finding no one else in the zone. When that happens, what's there to do but treat it as a PvE zone.

It's definately build for large scale battles rather then small teams where heavies can easily tip the balance. Which is quite often the case (least the times when I've visited). That's when heavies are a thorn in your side. (yes that is a minor personal grief i have with them sometimes, especially if i have a good fight going and one shows up to splash me in a heartbeat )

Killing farmers isn't exactly why you go to the zone either, is it? Fighting someone that's not there to fight you isn't exactly fun (for long). I have no issue with farmers except if they start to complain about getting interrupted in what they are doing. Thing is you should be able to go there and expect others to be there for the same reason - to PvP. Heavies ruin that concept by making farming v. easy/risk free and lucrative (well they are the means to it, anyways). I say risk free cuz there's no harm from getting killed by another player while your heavy is off fighting a turret.

Those are just my opinions and I think the opinions will continue to be split about such issues. Least we aren't all like minded, how dull it would be

It does serve that purpose, which is part of the reason I really like it being there, as I've stated before. It gives big enough prestige rewards that I'll happily wander around getting them until enough people show up to have a proper fight. That's a big part of why I spend more time in RV than the other zones, in fact - there's nothing massively interesting or rewarding to do in the other zones while waiting around.

There still are certainly plenty of people who are there purely to farm though, and a good percentage of them will often let you know rather vocally (and unpleasantly) that they have no intention to PvP, and furthermore, feel you shouldn't attack them. That kind of attitude actually bothers me more than the people who shout stupid insults whilst actually fighting - not that I like that either, but it's better than the endless arguments from self-righteous and hopelessly incorrect "how dare you interrupt my PvE in a PvP zone?" types.

People who go in solely to farm but don't give anyone grief when they do get killed, I have no issue with.

Errm I dont think that flying invis and commanding a heavy to kill the turrets is hazarous, really

[/ QUOTE ]

you CAN'T give orders to heavies while "only affecting self" from invisibility, phase shift and stuff in the same way MM's can't give orders to pets :P

True, but apparently the heavies dont switch off from aggressive mode either.. Besides I think he meant stalkers hide. Flying high is already quite good protection. My blaster kills turrets while hiding in PFF..

Re-edited from my PoV. Trashtalk done properly should make you dislike the character, not the player. Otherwise where would all the real Wolverine, Spiderman, Ben Grimm's be?

If someone swaps sides, I try to make sure they know I'm doing it for a reason. Usually to make them run slap bang into a drone. Verbal Taunting if you like.

I know you can't, yet then the hazardous point is turning off invis for one sec to command your pet to the centre of of the pillbox?

It'll need to be a well buffed mech - a normal mech can't survive being in the center of a box and being attacked by all 4 turrets.

Or two rocket batteries and a howitzer, while the other gun tries to spot flying Stalkers.

That makes sense, if I'm hitting a pillbox, I go in as well since it gives the guns two targets to try to remove.

Of course, people trying to get their Heavy to do all the work are presumably more likely to have means of buffing their bot.

I totally agree with you here matey Not been i Sirens for a good while but one of my best times was when i think i'm right in saying it was you Weasel playing a MM and i was on with my troller. Some really good banter coming from yourself didn't make me hate you but boy did i want to take down that load mouthed MM Only problem i got is when the broadcasts get abusive or needlessly personal don't stop me playing but it will make me turn off that channel.

I'd have to agree, Art of War have also taken down the AVs with a team that looked like - ice tank, grav/rad controller, empath defender, kinetic defender and 3 heavies. Best done when the zone is quiet though

Call me Captain Ahab ...

Now, I'm not one to blow my own horn, mostly because I'm not very good at it, but since all my attempts at defeating Scirocco and earning the last Arch-Villain badge so far had failed, either by mapserver disconnects, client crashes, mass team wipes, or despawning with only a sliver of health left, to finally take down my white whale last sunday morning, as I was all alone in Recluse's Victory, was an experience that simply felt ... too awesome to remain my little secret.

Which, interestingly, can only be gotten in PvP zones - so that makes RV tie in nicely with the other PvP zones

If you was solo the word Team wouldn't be in red.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Err, yes it would. In fact, the word Team being in red proves he was solo since it only turns red when you have "Do not accept invites" set at the top of your search comment box. If you're in a team, it turns green and if you have anything other than "Do not accept invites" set, it's the same colour as the other words at the top of the chatbox.

Good Achievement I wonder if more people will try soloing the AVs after stocking up now lol.

Nicely done. The times I've tried soloing any of the heroes (with a heavy) didn't go over to well. Never could lure one away from the pack. Once had positron down to half health but then statesblower showed up

So how did you get Scirrocco alone?

If you're careful, you can lure unwanted AVs close enough to the drones

Positron is without question the hardest signature Hero to take down in Recluse's Victory, with Statesman coming in at a close second place, so getting him down to half health is quite good.

He and Ghost Widow were sent to Alpha, so fortunately it was quite easy to lure her into one of the police drones at the hero base.

Oi! not that easy, in fact it was a fine show off of debuff luring to drones
