Really enjoy pvp and there is great pvp community but the last few times i've been to any zone, it's been littered with poor sportsmanship, poor ettiquette & sore losers.

Which is a shame as I'm trying boost the name and reputation of pvp among my SG, Coals and friends but when you've got the zone's resident fool, I can see this may put off the die hard pvp'er let alone the apprehensive newbie.

Anyone else found this the last week or two?

While I don't go into PvP zones much, when I do there usually aren't very many people in them. Generally, it's really, really quiet.

I'm not sure if you're implying that things have become suddenly worse, but even if they have it'll be transitory. I spent a fair time in Warburg after it opened (levelling mostly) and that's the only time I've heard much background noise of a bad sort. That's a while ago now.

You don't say which server you're on?

I agree, Its the people that dont know when to be quiet.

In PvP Zones there should be no Broadcast. That would sort most of the loud mouthed people that always have something to moan about or hit at someone.

I been called a noob more time than i can remember i try to refrain from using broadcast but sometimes it is hard not to respond to the insults.

Like you i am constantly trying to improve the PvP community but PvP Zones are for the more Casual players and gets more of the I am uber players.

There tends to be more chance of people "respecting" things like duels and fight clubs on defiant, as well as far more heroes, which makes playing a villain squishy more difficult. That was a while ago though, things may have changed. I've taken to removing broadcast so I cant hear people gloating or whatever, and to remove the temptation from myself.

Broadcast is generally full of idiots, but then that is hardly restricted to PvP zones.

I personally have no issues ignoring it, I have no understanding of people who feel they need to respond just because someone threw some badly spelled childish abuse at them. In fact if someone wants to pause to type in a PvP zone, they're more than welcome to as far as I'm concerned.

Not sure what server you're on. The times I've dropped into Sirens, in Defiant, recently the attitude's generally been better with the exception of 2 or 3 specific moronic individuals.

Well. respect isnt a word I would normally use as I'm all for breaking up duels and fight clubs. People with the opposite view seem to think its disrespectful to do that though so thats why I used it, in quotes. :P

As a non-PvPer, I think duels in PvP zones are kind of redundant. And if PvPers are going to respect duels in PvP Zones, then they need to start respecting PvEers and badge hunters as well. What exactly is the difference between using an open PvP area for one-on-one duels, and using it for PvE?

I recently took my GF down to WB on union to clear some debt off her stalker, now i know PvP is a risky place to be due to people wanting blood but it really annoys me when your not even interacting with the PvPers and then the next thing u know u got 6 of em ganking u.

While i was helping my gf sort her slots out we were both ganked by a load of loud mouthed selfindulgant idiots, i sent a broadcast saying pls refrain from ganking us as we not PvPing and was told that we should not be there then.

I find this VERY annoying being aware that its very likely tht ppl will just nail anything that is stood still we were well out of the way (or so i thought) of the PvP action after asking to be left 1 of them decided that it wud be best to send a broardcast telling all PvPers to attack my gf this is totally unacceptable (and against the terms and conditions) and so i reacted by telling them what i thought, to which a second broardcast went out telling every1 to petition us both, It seems to me that alot of the union PvPers have no regard for any1 or anything and most certainly have no online gaming etiquette (or however its spelt) what so ever, because of this reason my gf now refuses to go to any PvP zone ever again due to the fact that she does not want to have her account suspended. She has only been a CoVer for 3 months and has had the fun spoilt for her by these people (or in my eyes pieces of pondlife) the whole reason i got her the game and account was so we cud play and have fun together but now if i want to go badging in any PvP zone she logs off or i dont go thus making the game expierence nothing like what i had told her it was. Its very disheartening for new players as they are ridiculed and set upon by ppl that have been PvPing for a long time. I for 1 am not happy with the PvPers that go out of their way to make peoples life a misery even more so now that they have done it to my gf who like i say is loosing out in a big way.

I dont mind PvP areas if i die i die its water off a ducks back but when people start making new account holders miss ot on lots of things its time things were looked at.

Whilst I can sympathise with you Kashi, especially about the broadcast abuse, what on earth were you doing sorting out your slotting in the middle Warburg?

Posted

I was not slotting my gf wanted to add her enh and as it her char who am i to say where and when she can do it i tried to explain but the best i cud do was to insist that if she did not want to leave WB ( she changed her mind immediatley after the expierence ) that we go somewhere a bit more out of the way she only added 2 enhs but thats all the time it took
Like i say im not botherd about the beating it was the broardcasts that got my back up who in their right mind would want to go somewhere where people just hurl abuse and insist on every one ganking 1 person?

Posted

And yes i know by the hosp wud of been a better choice to do it but hey im only human after all

Posted

Hey, here's the deal:

Don't want to be attacked when you're in a PvP zone?

Tough.

Posted

Yeah and who cares if ur really putting new account holders off playing the game yeah??????

Think before u purposefully try and ruin someones gaming expierence like i say some people have NO online etiquette. If u find it ok to insult and hurl abuse at people on broardcast then the people responding are usually the ones PvPing. Failing that they usually all stood together not the people moving AWAY from the PvP action

Posted

The attitude and abuse of those doing the PvPing was moronic and wrong. I sympathise with someone and their girlfriend getting broadcast abuse, but really, complaining about actually being PvP'd in a PvP zone isn't really right.

The risk of being in a PvP zone is that of actually being PvP'd. 'Tis a bit silly to go into one and not want to be
PvP'd or be offended by it, poor conduct from idiots not withstanding.

kashi just get out of the zone it's not a place to pvp

i love to ruin pvers and badgers.

If the broadcast from them was THAT bad then you should have petitioned it. Seeing as we're only hearing one side here I cant help wondering about your own conduct during this, a lot of people who arent pvp'ing tend to go off on one and bring a whole world of hurt on themselves. Its worth remembering that some people dont like non-pvp things in the zones, in which case using the "I'm not here to PVP" line wont really help you out there. People WILL gank you out the zone because "you shouldnt be here then", and it doesnt make them self indulgant idiots either. Far more self indulgant to think you can deprive people of using the zone for its primary function. As long as people know you arent serious, a line like "ZOMG!!! Joo killed meh while i was eating a hotdog! NOOB!!" will serve you better.

I really don't understand what part of the red text saying "This is a PvP zone, do not go in here unless you are willing to be attacked by other players" people find hard to understand.

I use PvP zones to PvP, I use them to badge hunt, sometimes I just use them to potter, but regardless of what I'm doing in there I always expect to get attacked. When I'm playing my Defender I always expect to be the first target of anyone with half a brain, and I cater for it as far as I can. It's a PvP zone, of course if I make myself an easy target I'm going to pay for it.

Everyone in PvP zones thinks everyone else should cater for their playstyle. Don't interfere with duels, don't interfere with experience farming, don't interfere with prestige farming, don't use teamwork, the other side is too stupid to do that. Why? The zones have their own rules, griefing is really near to impossible, and if you're losing, try making a team and getting on with it if you want to PvP, or leaving the zone if you don't, instead of whinging. Why not for once adapt based on what the other side is doing, and enjoy the zones for what they could be.

This post was brought to you on the back of some serious disgust at the CoH community as shown in RV and Warburg today. I like to say I have seldom seen attitues worthy of such contempt, but it wouldn't be true, I see it virtually every time I go in a PvP zone. I am less chilled than this morning.

They've gotta learn that PvP zones are for fightin' somehow.

Did I say this was OK? I don't think I did. What's not OK is whinging after you got killed in a PvP zone. It's like going paintballing and then complaining after you get shot.

Either put up with being killed or get out of the zone.
