Oil Slick STILL broken??

Ok this power is driving me mad. It's fantastic when it lights but it just isn't reliable. The description gives the impression that it might not light every single time, which in itself is ok but I've been getting some really odd behaviour when i use it.

It will work 100% of the time for long periods, then suddenly not light once for an entire mission. Last night it lit every time in the respec missions until i got to the reactor mision. It didn't light once in well over 30 uses in the reactor map. This is a common occurance. Once i came out of the mission it lit again first time. This seems to come on completely randomly, it just decides it's not going to light and theres nothing i can do about it.

I run 2 acc in blazing arrow and have tactics as well as aim on occassion. Also my duo partner is a /fire tank who usually lights it for me. It doesn't matter who shoots it or with what it just will not light for long stretches.

Is there a set probability of it lighting? If so it seems like you get all the successful lightings in one go followed by all the duds together.

It's most annoying as unless EMP arrow is recharged it is my main damage mitigation from both it's knockdown and more importantly the damage which clears mobs in seconds. Also seems to decide to not light when i need it most (ambushes, i'm looking at you).

I'm a bit miffed at how you have a power that may or may not work at any given time, i cant think of another like this. You dont get fulcrum shifts that fail to fire (assuming a hit) or nukes that have the posibility to just not happen.

It's not like TA is overpowered at the best of times, and i think it's about time this power were fixed for good.

Yup, I have the same problem on my troller. On the plus side for me, at least if it doesn't light my imps don't go mad and run off.

a TA defender (/me waves to annah) in our SG has bugged this loads, tests have shown that its even down to what area of an city map your in.. it works fine in one area of bricks, go over the 'border' to the next area of bricks and it doesnt light.

maybe a map blackzone list needs to be made, wetzones i suppose

I'd have to agree that Oil Slick is affected by which Zone you are in. Last time i used it in Warburg it appeared as a friend and i couldn't light it.

I have had similar experiences to all of you. Itll be nice and i dont know if its already meant to be there but to have a streakbreaker on it so the chance of not lighting cant keep on going.

Also the problem with pets is not good depending on how close you are to next group. As a defender i dont call the shots on where fights take place. Half the time i dont even get a chance to throw in flash arrow for a pseudo weave power which i think the -per is great anyway as it should lower range.

be glad you not a fire/ta troller, on indoor missions if you do ignite it, it will burn your pets and they will never again return to that location even once the slick has gone

You sure it's location based? My imps won't touch anyone that's taken damage from the slick, no matter where they are afterwards. It's like they have some sort of imp repellant on.

It's definatly location based.
One night all was all over brickstown trying diffrent locations. It would never ever light up in Seven Gates in bricks, but in Zig area it would work fine. i planted well over 50 oil slicks around bricks and the test was consistent.

I've /bugged this maybe 100 times now. everytime i encounter a location where it won't work i'm /bugging it.

It's always seemed streaky for me and I was so upset about this power that I shelved my bumblebee (still a firm favourite character).

It's just too streaky. Once I see it fail to light in a mission it pretty much never lights for the rest of the mission.

Any updates on the oil slick fiasco?

I logged in once with the new Issue, watched my oil slick fail to ignite, logged out and double clicked the dark age of camelot.exe again.

Would be nice to think they are working on it in some capacity.

I had this same problem in my TA/A Defender. Damn thing wouldn't light throughout the whole of an outdoor insanced mission against Rikti, but then we did a council mission and it lit every time I got a hit. It's maddening.

I hope people are sending /bugs when they encounter a map where oil slick definatly won't light. I'm glad to see they fixed oil slick in Warburg.

No updates provided on it, they've been very quiet on it recently.

For me the Pet scattering effect is much more annoying, especially in the Controller heavy SG teams I tend to end up in.

I've added it to Leeses list of bugs still in the game Here

God yes, racked out my earth/ta (tech) again yesterday and TEH m1ght3y oilslick wouldn't light on many occasions, not from fireball nor from my taser dart.

On top of it stoney suffered more then i ever remembered from the pet+oilslick (a)pathetic bug. Running away all the time from oilslick wher he used to stick to it most of times in the past...

Seems they completely ignore the oilslick problems on any of the zillion patches we got since it was reported. Big shame to such a lovey underacknowledged powerset

Add another one here to the long list of Trick Archers who have encountered this problem. I'd love to think they're going to fix it - it's not just the occasional non-ignition, but it can easily be 20 instances in a row. Takes a lot of the fun out of what should be the crowning glory of the TA set.

Ditto, another patch another failure to even acknowledge the problem, yet they find time to fix unfortunate errant particles on invulnerability, not good priority.
It's occasional in missions, outside it's impossible, turning what should be a swarm/mastermind killer power into a minor annoyance as the ones without KU protection occasionally fall over...


The pellet with the poisons in the Vessel with the Pessel, the Chalice from the Palace has the brew that is true...

now now. Do you actually expect them to fix things?

Unless you get alot fo americans having 'said' problem, you will not see anyform of acknowledgement from the dev's; sad but true. I've got issue 4 bugs still. and not one fix, there will be no fix and i really don't expect it either. Just the way they're told to do things

Now thats cynism for ya. Gotta say that pragmatically it looks dim indeed, but i think this problem has been reported multiple times, by mutiple ppl and they sadly don't seem to have the sense to fix it indeed.

But don't blame the americans for everything really.

All in all they should do something about the TA set to let it's proper potential excel indeed!!

ye. your sets and every other set in every other AT. remember all of em have something that doesnt work 100% (maybe not all. but a good splat of the classes)

and none will get fixed. for that is the cryptic way :P

My SR works fine except for Tohit debuffs rendering it useless......... Oh I see. Yeah, got your point.

thing is Oil Slick Arrow is the most broken power I have on any of my toons, and I have a dominator so that's saying something. Its been unaltered since at least I6, and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel (or coming from the slick)

Just thought it would be worth cross posting here, since forwarned is forarmed. Don't slot Positron's Blast: chance of energy damage in Oil Slick. It is completly non-functional (however the procs from the slow sets work fine).

Oil Slick Arrow is supposed to light every single time the target is destroyed within the allowed time frame. The bug that prevents this from happening lies somewhere deep in the server timing code. The bug does effect other things besides Oil Slick, but this power is the most visible example for a variety of reasons.

So, all of that said, it is still a bug, it is still on our bug list for the lead programmer to deal with when he gets time. Unfortunately, he's got a LOT of bigger fish to fry, so this one persists. He'll get to it, I just don't know when.
