You should've overtaken me by now, Max - I've got more time to write than you do! Gogogo, get ahead!

Wrapped up another chapter today (that's 6 down, 11 to go) but the word count hasn't moved on much. The part of my brain that makes words come out in the order of a story actually feels painful, like its got sore from all the neurons running around in it.

BTW I too went to see the Prestige today. Not as good as I'd hoped but David Bowie was great as my favourite inventor.

Well, up at 8 in the morning to walk a mile before getting on a bus to run a store. When I get home I'm getting to 16k or I'll eat my own earwax!

Can you have the webcam at the ready please? We need proof of this, if it happens.

I'm now ahead of Stasis, although probably only for 20 seconds or somesuch, at 26,004 words.

And as usual, the next chapter is up to read, by those who are actually reading it.

Yesterday's blocked and bruised brainache has gone (yay for Oban's fine single malt ) and another chapter is well on the way. I may even have to split this chapter into two, mainly because the battle is turning out to be bigger than anticipated and partly because it would provide a nice bit of symmetry with the earlier battle scene.

The halfway mark is in sight now and I'm only on the 7th chapter of a projected 17. Either the story won't finish in 50,000 words or the pacing will go weird and the second half will be horribly stunted. I'm not going to worry too much about it, the story will tell itself and as long as I get as close to 50k as I can and get to the end of the story that's good enough for me, even if the two things don't happen at the same time.

28,631 words to go and more to come later.

Done nothing all weekend- but it was my brother's birthday party. I think at this rate my two days holiday at the end of the month will be a very intensive writing session...

27,964 words to go.

Chapter 4 is finished (the 7th of 18 now) and Chapter 5 is going to be a lot of fun to write now it's underway. I've also made a start on Chapter 12 but that's only a sentence atm. Hey, it all counts

The tricky, and fun, part of Chapter 5 will be making it segue with Chapter 6 which has been written for a while. It has to live up to the situation presented in 6 & 7 which leads to the awful events in Chapters 8 to 10.

Oh yeah, I got my video working this morning which means I can now run my collection of war films in the background for the ambience. Somehow it was easier writing about Stalingrad when fireworks were going off constantly.

Phew! Week Two barrier smashed through, was doubting I'd manage it for a while there. Still have a couple of days left, so it's entirely possible I'll crack 30k - then, and only then, can I start relaxing and settle into the final stretch.

Hope everyone else is managing to hit their personal targets .

Well, I'm only at just over 11k, but I'm not worried... I'll either make it, or I won't.

I got to 20k and since then I've started two chapters with just 500 words combined. Can't get them moving. Bleh. So, have to force it. 30k before the end of week 2 is starting to be out of the question, now to just hang on and keep with the original quota.

Posted

I should be able to make my target of 25,000 words by the 14th. Still not sure whether I'll make the 50,000 though; the last week in November is looking dodgy for being able to write much.

My personal goal is to get the whole thing finished by the 20th December. Even if I make the 50k by the end of this month there's no way the story will be finished by then.

Due to being distracted a lot, couldn't concentrate properly on today's chapter, so used up some of my words-cushion. I'm still a few hundred words above the quota though, now at 27,962 words. I should break the 30K barrier tomorrow.

Good Lord. I should have known I'd find such a hotbed of creativity in my own back yard.

For I, too, am in deep with the NaNoWriMo nightmare (everyone who's behind word count surely calls it a nightmare...). Sadly I'm not writing about CoH. Oh, if only I'd thought of that before November 1st, I'd surely be past 50k by now. Nope, it's completely unrelated and as such is coming in fits and starts. As of this morning, erm, something like 14k written I think. Of course deciding to do it on October 30th probably didn't help.

Just think, I'll be losing the last precious weekend in November to bring the message of NCsoft to the masses at Memorabilia... when I could be curled up at home writing! Ah, procrastination's great.

Good luck to all, and to anyone daring to skip the weekend's writing by coming to Memorabilia, you have your opening line - "Hey Rockjaw, how's that word count coming???"

Well... I didn't decide till the 4th November, and started a day or so later!

So, what's your buddy name then? Wanna see what we're up against!

EDIT: Nevermind! Found you! Put an excerpt up!!

Almost 3k to do tomorrow - must get quota...

It's a nightmare even on those rare days that quota is just a bump in the past. Fortunately it is a thoroughly invigorating nightmare that I refuse to wake up from before 1st December.

I used to be lazy. This month I procratinate. I'm considering going back to lazy on December again.

That'd be skipping a weekend of writing and paying the rent for a month as I'm from elsewhere. But I promise to hold one minute's silence of not writing during that weekend to commemorate my handicap.

Rock on, mate! 50k might be a long way still, but so is the end of the month too.

....that's my mantra that keeps me sane, however sane is defined this month.

Aside from today's writing, I'm not finding it that stressful, or much of a nightmare to be honest. I simply get up, write for a few hours, finish a chapter, and get on with everything else afterwards.

I think if you see it as a challenge, then it becomes a challenge. I'm just writing, and meeting a respectable quota each day, and enjoying it.

Heh, whilst I put it off, panic, write a few hundred words, grab a coffee, think, realise the time, hammer out a thousand words, delete a hundred, remember something I needed to put earlier on and then rewrite a bit.

I enjoy writing that way though
