granite nerf - true or false
Check the US red name posts fairly regularly, and haven't seen the slightest hint of this.
Why would they nerf something that is by no means over powered?

I agree, i have a level 50 stone/stone tank and it is by no means overpowered. people always think that granite is overpowered but if you acctually play with it you realise it isn't. The drawbacks of granite armor make it balanced, ok so we don't die to fast on a lot of villain types but when it gets to a villain type that can kill us we suffer a great deal, it is very hard for a granite tank to kill a mob that can hurt them when they are to slow at attacking to kill them. Also on the point of granite being put on a timer, i have been on test and it wasn't on my tank and i don't think it ever will be. if they are going to nerf granite it will be its base rates not by putting it on a timer, i only say this because there is no point putting something on a timer that makes you so slow to make any good use from it. well this is just my opinion of course.
thx for reply guys. Glad to hear that my searches havent been in vain.
Last I had checked - no nerf was coming.
Also agree with point abt grnaite tank. Mine is only L46. Thing that peeps dont realise that just being resilient alone doesnt make a good tank. After all its not abt the tank himself surivivng - but being part of a team.
I heard lots of whining on US boards abt granites being overpowered - but then again; lots of whining seems to take place on US boards - refer to another thread in this heading lol)
the slow and -rech is a real pain, and makes soloing a real tedious affair.
Once agian thx for alying fears guys
AFAIk Statesman, and probably Positron too have said quite a few times they are completely happy with Stone tanks in general, especially with granite armour. I mean, OK, it's tough to take one down (psi excepted) but you get -recharge, -speed and -damage. Sure you're hard to kill, but it also makes it hard for you to kill.
(Substitute arrest for kill where required)

@Miss Chief
Granite is fine, stupid amounts of damage mitigation, but also stupid amounts of self debuffs. I know I couldn't live with Stone Armour, that's why I don't have one.
As I have said before, I think the balance between the Tanker Primaries at the minute is really good. All of them do things the others can't, and there is no clear "uber" set.
What we need now are MORE TANKER PRIMARIES, DAMMIT!!!. And I'm grievously saddened / annoyed that we're not getting any in I8.

Agreed.. A LOT!
More Scrapper Primaries as well would be even cooler.. I want something new to do with me new account/slots.. not repeat "history", such as it was.
whatever (if anything) was brought in to add additionals to scrappers and tanks, please please make them exclusives. doubling one into the other is just a cop out
an illusion tank... with level 32 phantom army of themselves (no damage component though), that'd be grand
@ExtraGonk
ooooh, why don't you tell me these suggestions before you post? An illusion tank would be cool!

"Overpowered" much?
Well, it would only be overpowered if you gave it really uber powers. Anything suggested has the potential to be overpowered but if you attempt to try and balance out the issues then it wouldn't have to be imo.

Yes very true..
and we all know what happened that last "time" that kinda of Balance happened
We called it Global Defense Changes/Nerfs/E.D...
Still a nice idea tho.

Thirded. Scrapper epics SERIOUSLY need addressing too. They get to choose from 3(!), whereas the other ATs have one or two more. Pah.
On the subject of Granite armour, I for one didn't realise there was a -recharge debuff, perhaps thats why they are considered overpowered - that part of it is not really common knowledge?
I wish it was. But it wont be .
Granite is over powered - for one reason only. You can wear granite armour AND have the increased regen from rooted. This makes it extremely hard and fruitless to take down a granite tank. Granted its got is major drawbacks too, but these can be overcome to a limited extent. (Teleport, 3 x slot swift, 3 x slot sprint... and remember by choosing Granite you effectively free up three other powers and all the slots that go in them).
It would only need a slight rebalancing in my opinion. say an additional -25% debuff to regen and all heals coming its way. This would make it a little easier for a Granite to eventually fall by chipping away at it, and actually makes conceptual sense too (bit hard to heal stone, isn't it? ).
It may not always be wise to respec out of all you "normal" armours as a stone tank/brute. This would make you easy prey in case that you have to exemplar down for a TF/SF or if you enter Bloody Bay (if only to collect some Shivans) or Siren´s Call. This is a limitation that bears it´s own balance.
The main drawback - especially for brutes since they need fury to shine - is the -recharge which can not really be overcome. Yes, there is always Speed Boost and Hasten and things like that, but stoney will always be considerably slower than any other toon with those same buffs. A toon running Rooted and Granite is almost immobile. He hardly attacks, runs slowly and is awkward in uneven terrain because of -jump. And I don´t really have to tell you what -slow does to granite. Soooooo sloooooow...
And there is one more disadvantage to granite: it´s a toggle. That means it can be permanently turned off by endurance denial.
So, yes stoney may need a little bit of work to tear down, but they are hardly unbeatable or overpowered. There is still enough stuff around that can really hurt them or effectively keep them from hurting you that I would say granite is perfectly balanced.
(And from a kinetics point of view I would rather say it´s underpowered. Poor little rockies... )
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Hmmm, have they changed this recently then? cuz last I knew both Rooted and Granite Armour would turn off Sprint, thus negating it and the 3 slots in it.
Teleport does help, assuming you take it.
3 slotting Swift will help, but it far from overcomes the slow of Rooted and Granite Armour.
Sure, SB will help but that requires someone with kinetics on the team and if we're adding external buffing then I believe a lot of the downsides of other tanks can also be overcome to some extent.
Granite + Rooted + Speed Boost from a friendly buffer means you can move at normal 'walking' speed, but you still have -Acc and -Dam, so you don't hit much, don't hurt much when you do and then run out of End. - Recharge cancels Hasten so unless your frienldly buffer has Acc Metabolism your attacks are so slow the mob looses interest. If you have AM or Mud Pots the End drain issue is still there.
Swift does not work with Granite or Rooted, and TP only works when you can see where to point the reticule. TP also speeds up the loss of End, so all in all Granite is as much a pain as it is a blessing. I have stood up to a mob of +5's and survived, but the rest of the team had to kill them. Very hard to solo or PvP with Granite.

AFAIK there is no -ACC on granite mine has shown no signs of missing more than when out of granite.
That´s correct, no -acc, but -30% damage and -70% recharge are bad enough as a combat self debuff.
