Hmmm, for some reason, I was inexplicably drawn to this thread ... It kind of ... echoed of something ...
Good to see your still as much an addict as ever, Noir. I'll come along and lend support if you want for future events, but this weekend is Elf-themed unfortunately ... -
Yup, thanks to those that attended for what's gotta be the greatest bit of luck in the known world, and the fastest collection of Hallowe'en GM badges ever.
Two Jacks inside half an hour. Who ordered the exceedingly large tub of jam? -
I know the thread title is misleading, but I'm still planning a run at the GM's tonight.
The thread is lower down the page. -
Right, just to confirm, we are definitely rescheduled for tonight (Wednesday) at 8 pm. Apologies again for delaying, but hey, what can ya do.
-
Unfortunately I've been conned into going to see some works of fire or something because of this thing called Hallowe'en which is happening tonight.
Long story sort, I'll have to delay this little get together u8ntil tomorrow (Wednesday) night. The GMs will still be about then.
Apologies, but I've been putting MMORPGs ahead of real life too much recently, and I'm sure you'll understand. -

The link to Badge Floozy isn't showing pictures of the spawn sites, just "Photobucket bandwith exceeded"

Yup, they be broke now. No matter. -
Seethe dismisses your petty insults as childish jealousy!
And welcomes your support ... begrudingly ... -
Hallowe'en draws to an end. The dark forces that have infested Paragon City and the Rogue Isle for the last weeks have been smashed and plundered, but they are not beaten yet.
Let's make their defeat final.
That epitome of evil, the sinister, brutish Seethe (Level 50 Fire/DA Brute) is proposing to lead a raid against the last few giant monsters left in the Rogue Isles tomorrow (31st October) before they mysteriously disappear the following day. Eochai and Jack in Irons (plus their Unseelie courts) are the targets.
If you think you can muster the might to smite these beacons of dark magic back to Easter, meet Seethe in Cap Au Diable's Aeon City central square, under the Globe at 8pm on the 31st October 2006.
From there, a battle plan shall be drawn. Most likely a contingent of teams will spilt up and trawl the neighbours zones of Sharkhead Isle, St. Martial and the Nerva Archipelago for any signs of the monsters in question. Eochai is a target for each and every individual team and he is to be destroyed on every sighting, thereby increasing the chances of spawning our rarer target, Jack in Irons.
Once a Jack in Irons has been located, the respective team leader should inform Seethe, who will relay the news to each team searching. Then, our collective might will converge on Jack himself, and blast him back wence he came.
Spawn points for the targets can be found here.
Good luck, villians of the Isles, I am assured that yet another challenge to Lord Recluse's domination will come to a timely end, and that his Lordship will have us to thank.
((Right, enough of big words and junk.I've assumed throughout the above that more than 2 people will show up to partake in the senseless destruction, but if they don't, no biggie.
This little get-together is for people such as myself that have yet to pick up all the Hallowe'en badges, but I know there are plenty of you out there that are more diligent and have already grabbed the lot.
And if there's enough interest, we can switch over to Heroes and MBar can lead another charge there for the last of the badges.))

Granite is fine, stupid amounts of damage mitigation, but also stupid amounts of self debuffs. I know I couldn't live with Stone Armour, that's why I don't have one.
As I have said before, I think the balance between the Tanker Primaries at the minute is really good. All of them do things the others can't, and there is no clear "uber" set.
What we need now are MORE TANKER PRIMARIES, DAMMIT!!!. And I'm grievously saddened / annoyed that we're not getting any in I8. -
[ QUOTE ]
btw is still being used? only see/hear WOW players
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, it's still being used, however as you mentioned, a lot of the core group of users have gone over to WoW for a while, some temporarily, some more permanently ... That said, there are CoH players on there and all of the WoW players are very much veterans of Paragon anyway. -
Oooh, this will teach me about not reading the CoH forums.
Welcome back, Noir! You may notice that some people from Ye Olde Agency and DarkWings may have temporarily departed for the land of Azeroth ... -
[ QUOTE ]
Ever heard the term 'overkill'?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds to me like Wammy will be killing nothing.
TANKERS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FRICKIN' MEDIUM DAMAGE!!!
Rant over. -

Grounded
its 11% neg nrg 14% NRG 3 slotted not 4%
Altho the 3rd slot gives only 1% neg NRG 1% NRG so is only worth 2 slotting.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's what he said: The 2 slots only give a 3-4% bonus on top of the base of 11%.
And if you go into decimals in those calculations, you'll see each of the slots increase the Res by a set amount, i.e. 20% of the base for an even level SO. The third slot is as affective as the second, they just both do only about 1.5%. -
Having assisted Mr. Cynic on Saturday, I can provide Currency Conversion services again.
Bit busy the next two nights, but if you're on tonight between 5pm and 6pm, I can sort you out then. -

Uncontroller
[/ QUOTE ]
Bah! Your mother was an aardvark, and your father was an ant-eater!
I, being so utterly uber in every way with my multitude of AoE controls, was obviously the corner-stone of the team, the foundation you were built on, the glue that brought cohesion to the chaos! How you ever would have survived without me is a matter beyond the comprehension of mortal beings, as it would have been reaching beyond the impossible and into a realm where imagination has yet to even take the human race!
And I would put </sarcasm> at the end of this post, but it is all the honest truth and utterly without question, irrefutable, if you will, in its grandeur!
</sarcasm>
Christ, I spelled irrefutable right apparently. How'd that happen?
And now back to your regularily scheduled celebrations and junk:
Big-[censored] screenshot of the 8x50 ding!
As a side-note, that's one of each of the starting 5 AT's in CoH that I now have at 50.They are:
<ul type="square"> [*]MBar : Invuln/Energy Tanker[*]Darkshift : Rad/Dark Defender[*]Night Helm : Dark/Regen Scrapper[*]Amanda Pierson : Bow/Elec Blaster[*]Frozen Chorus : Ice/Sonic Controller[/list]
That only leaves some sort of Kheldian now (as I consider the Kheldians as one AT, even though they're seperated out into Warshades and Peacebringers). Starfell, currently a lvl 24 Human-form Peacebringer, will probably be my next Hero to hit 50, unless the devs GIVE US MORE TANKER PRIMARIES DAMMIT!!!
You see? I'll never miss an opportunity to say that.
I'm going to put together a celebratory wallpaper of Team MBar whenever I get the chance, just so I can show off and be a [censored] about it.
And finally, thanks once again to the guys and girls who collectively call themselves the DarkWings, whether they be actual members of such or all but, going for 0 - 50 in about 150 hours was once again a blast.
Or a control ... Whatever! -
Yup, the base Defence value on Hide is high enough to make 3 slotting it for Defence worthwhile IMO.
And it's Defence to everything too. -
That text shouldn't be in Light Green surely as well, doesn't that indicate Healing Given or something?
-
*/Sonic am teh gimp!!!
Wait, I have one of those, don't I ...
Grats, Okton! -
And if you see a big grey haired viking bloke standing in Hollows.. that'll be me
-
[ QUOTE ]
Interestingly this post is of mind bogglingly useful significance since last night I rolled a fire / axe end muncher tank called "Viking Furnace" - currently at lvl 5. I'm going to be concentrating on damage more than damage resistance.
Mebbie we could team up?
[/ QUOTE ]
If you're going the Scranker route more-so that me, that might be worth a shot acutally. -
[ QUOTE ]
If you are sure you want RotP, slot for disorient. The damage is not that great but the disorient is pretty good. Diso enhancements will give you plenty of time to get your toggles back up before they kill you again. Which they most certainly will. If you couldn't take the incoming aggro before hitting RotP, you probably won't be able to take it afterwards. Although I'm sure you'll have fun trying.
[/ QUOTE ]
You see, this is the dilema. Do I slot for Damage and score an auto-hit Damage-equilvaent of Chop (2nd power in Axe) to everything around me, hopefully killing some of the badguys that did me in, thereby lessening the chance the group will kill me again?
Or do I slot for Disorient, have the group drunkenly staggering about as long as possible and give my team-mates relative safety to beat the sausage out of them?
I guess the Disorient option is always going to be better. The Damage dealt will probably not be enough to kill things unless they were half-dead already, and it especially won't be enough later in the game when you're more likely to be up against Reds, Purples and such.
Rolled the Fire/Axe last night on Defiant under the shoddy name of Rampant Axe. Currently lvl 6, and pretty fun it has to be said. -
[ QUOTE ]
It would be nice to know what the slotting levels are given that this isn't a level 50 respec.
[/ QUOTE ]
Slotting levels don't concern me much, I just slot em as required as I progress.
And it probably isn't a 1 - 50 build this, I'll respec into this kinda thing about lvl 28 and my AoE I think. -
[ QUOTE ]
I know, I've seen your troller MBar, and you just said it yourself, she "fairly" rocks. It's certainly a team-based set and hopeless for soloing but after playing both /rad and /kin to 50 on controllers, I can say it's just not on the same level as those 2 (but hey! I like a good challenge
).
[/ QUOTE ]
What I didn't fancy about Rad and Kin is the fact that they're very "active" sets, meaning you'll be spending time in battle doing things other than controlling.
[ QUOTE ]
First of all you have to be into bubbling, and although the +res shields are nice, the numbers are too low for controllers to make that much of a difference in most cases.
[/ QUOTE ]
30-35% Resistance to everything but Psi is too low?
[ QUOTE ]
Sonic Siphon and Disruption Field are OK, but of course can't be enhanced.
[/ QUOTE ]
But that's an advantage! Full effect straight out of the box.
[ QUOTE ]
Clarity is a great power but comes almost 20 levels later than an /empathy's CM.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, Clarity does have limited use given that Dispersion gives everyone around you most-Mezzes protection anyway.
And while we're on the subject of Dispersion: It is god-like.
[ QUOTE ]
And Liquefy? I respecced out after 2 levels given how unreliable the hold/kdown was, and the -def -acc hardly noticeable.
[/ QUOTE ]
Disagree, it's another AoE Control, which while no one effect within it is high, the combined sum is useful.
[ QUOTE ]
For defenders I think it's quite a good set and for PvP it has some handy tricks like Sonic Cage, but you just won't be "turning the tide" of a battle with it as a controller.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, if things go wrong, Sonic has little to cope, but that's because that's not it's nature. The shields and debuffs ensure that the team is harder to kill and are killing things quicker, meaning there's much less chance of things going wrong in the first place.
[ QUOTE ]
There's a reason why you see so few sonics at high level, right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because people are continually chasing the supposed ubers that are Rad and Kin?
You seem unnessecarily down about Sonic, Okton. Yes, it isn't as super-happy as some of the secondaries but it is most certainly not weak.
