Fiery Aura Tanker ... Yeah, you heard right!

Is Consume slotted intelligently?
[/ QUOTE ]Might want one EndMod in there.

Given the choice between Fiery Embrace and Build Up, Fiery Embrace is better right?
[/ QUOTE ]For anything but /fire, BU wins by far.
I would get Consume later. At that point you only have one attack, this allows you to get Tough at 26. I found on my Fire Tank than I didn't really need end reducers with stamina when I only had 2 attacks.
I am not sure how valuable Weave is. It will reduce damage by approximately 17%. So maybe it is worth a shot. Unfortunately there isn't much you can take from your primary to beef you up any more ( my major gripe with FA ).
It would be nice to know what the slotting levels are given that this isn't a level 50 respec.
@Unthing ... Mostly on Union.
Hi Mbar. I have a lvl45 fire/ice burn monster. I shelved him in I4 cause he was too easy, but after a recent respec I've been playing him a bit, and he's still fun but no longer overpowered (obviously)
I'm happy with one acc in blazing aura for pve, with 2 end red and three damage. It seems to hit purples alright with that slotting. You probably won't want to fight more than +3s anyway unless you really like debt.
I wouldn't put any slots in combat jumping, and I wouldn't bother with weave. I tried both and the only difference I noticed with weave was I ran out of end more quickly. Tough is essential, weave is just a -end toggle unless you have some other def to stack it with, wich you don't, and even then the cost/benefit is marginal. I did some testing and weave wasn't even worth it on an ice tank, let alone a fire tank. Check out my post on the alt forums fighting pool thread for more detail.
Consume I would slot 3x end rec 1x acc 2x end mod. Without 2 end mods it won't do much unless you have 3-5 bad guys around you, with them you can keep your toggles up against AVs even after it's minions are dead. If you really need an acc boost pop a yellow or hit BU before consume.
If you are sure you want RotP, slot for disorient. The damage is not that great but the disorient is pretty good. Diso enhancements will give you plenty of time to get your toggles back up before they kill you again. Which they most certainly will. If you couldn't take the incoming aggro before hitting RotP, you probably won't be able to take it afterwards. Although I'm sure you'll have fun trying.
As to the BU / Fiery embrace question, without burn or fire secondary BU is slightly better, as you can use it for the acc boost when trying to use consume on deep purples. But FE now boosts burn very nicely (not that you will be taking it) and will work on your epic powers too. hmmm. BU until epics, then respec into FE? I use FE but I have ice patch and burn, so it makes sense.
Hope this helps.

Slotting levels don't concern me much, I just slot em as required as I progress.
And it probably isn't a 1 - 50 build this, I'll respec into this kinda thing about lvl 28 and my AoE I think.

I expect to have to use RotP on a semi-regular basis and honestly I dont give a monkeys if I'm hitting the floor faster than a Blaster in Defiance, as long as I know when I go down, Ill be back up in seconds, and Im bringing a hell-storm of some sort with me.

lol spoken like a true fire tanker!
After testing all types of tanks in DA (where a major amount of secondary effects are all at lvl 22 on test server) it occured to me that it could be possible especially whilst soloing for my fire/firetanker to make equal to or more xp per minute than my inv/ss, stone/stone and ice/ice whilst being capped for debt even. In light if this i was thinking "you know RotP is still pretty cool why not have fun with it?". My only concerns is for other members of a kept team to be outlevelling me so i wouldnt be looking to use it everytime it recharged but just do my fair share of planting. Difference with this tanker dying is that you can immediately reherd and so not a worry.

You see, this is the dilema. Do I slot for Damage and score an auto-hit Damage-equilvaent of Chop (2nd power in Axe) to everything around me, hopefully killing some of the badguys that did me in, thereby lessening the chance the group will kill me again?
Or do I slot for Disorient, have the group drunkenly staggering about as long as possible and give my team-mates relative safety to beat the sausage out of them?
I guess the Disorient option is always going to be better. The Damage dealt will probably not be enough to kill things unless they were half-dead already, and it especially won't be enough later in the game when you're more likely to be up against Reds, Purples and such.
Rolled the Fire/Axe last night on Defiant under the shoddy name of Rampant Axe. Currently lvl 6, and pretty fun it has to be said.
Interestingly this post is of mind bogglingly useful significance since last night I rolled a fire / axe end muncher tank called "Viking Furnace" - currently at lvl 5. I'm going to be concentrating on damage more than damage resistance.
Mebbie we could team up?

In fact - how about setting up a regular "Fire based squishies FTW" thing? Anything Fire/* ?

If you're going the Scranker route more-so that me, that might be worth a shot acutally.
Superb.. I'll be on from around half 6 tonight. glob is @steelrat70, or if you see a big red haired viking bloke standing in Hollows.. that'll be me

Since everyone and their mother have an Ice Tanker these days, I was also tempted to make one. Then I decided not to. And since I have an Invulnerability, and dont want to go near Stone, and in the absence of MORE TANKER PRIMARIES, DAMMIT!!!, that leaves the squishiest option.
Below is a purely PvE build for a prospective copy of Inferna ... I mean, Fire/Axe Tanker who obviously is concentrating on the defensive side of things but with attacks coming in later and in the Epics.
1: Fire Shield
==> 1xEnd, 3xRes
1: Gash
==> 1xNone
2: Healing Flames
==> 3xHeal, 3xRec
4: Blazing Aura
==> 2xEnd, 2xAcc, 2xDam
6: Combat Jumping
==> 3xDef
8: Consume
==> 2xAcc, 3xRec
10: Taunt
==> 3xTaunt
12: Plasma Shield
==> 1xEnd, 3xRes
14: Super Jump
==> 1xJump
16: Swift
==> 1xRun
18: Health
==> 3xHeal
20: Swoop
==> 2xAcc, 3xDam, 1xEnd
22: Stamina
==> 3xEnd
24: Acrobatics
==> 1xEnd
26: Boxing
==> 1xNone
28: Whirling Axe
==> 2xAcc, 3xDam, 1xEnd
30: Tough
==> 1xEnd, 3xRes
32: Rise of the Phoenix
==> 3xDam
35: Cleave
==> 2xAcc, 3xDam, 1xEnd
38: Weave
==> 1xEnd, 3xDef
41: Char
==> 2xAcc, 2xHold, 2xRec
44: Fire Blast
==> 2xAcc, 3xDam, 1xEnd
47: Fire Ball
==> 2xAcc, 3xDam, 1xEnd
49: Fiery Embrace
==> 3xRec
Im tempted to give this a go if even just to see how rubbish Fiery Aura has become and how often Rise of the Pheonix comes into play.
What I need some advice on is some slotting considerations:
<ul type="square">[*]Is Consume slotted intelligently? [*]Given the choice between Fiery Embrace and Build Up, Fiery Embrace is better right?[*]Rise of the Pheonix: Ive put 3 slots aside for it (and yes, it will be taken and yes, it will be slotted, comments to the contrary will be greeted with rapturous silence ), however I dont know what to put in them. Recharge, Heal and End Recovery seem unnecessary in it, with it hopefully not required more than once every 3 minutes, and Consume and Healing Flames there to kick Health and Endurance back towards full bars. Disorient Duration is probably a good idea to maximise the high magnitude of the effect, however Im also interested in the Damage it does. How big is it / is it worth slotting for? [/list]
