Ninja run is suppressed in the same way travel powers are, so wth the end cost its not an ideal travel power.
If your end is fine take combat jump. its a useful power as are the enhancements you have it. I have never has a lot of end trouble on regen
Edit - Typo -
i get that the screen shots diddnt help, i just posted incase i was reading the break up of memory use it has at the bottom wrong. i understand that CoH can use around 2 gig of ram when running, but the imac was using 3.2 gig of ram nearly idle. more than double normal memory use.
i posted all i could as i started to panic, i was being fed worse case scenarios by people i spoke to about it. Restarting did nothing so i thought there may be permanent damage.
The problem started around 10 in the morning and went away shortly after posting on this forum at about 1am, which is nice, but sorry to have wasted time and given data that didn't help. -
This problem might be fixed. although i had restarting the computer before, and tried shutting it down completely the problem persisted.
after downloading the latest security patch the ram use returned to normal.
i have no idea why
thankyou for your time -
Having had no pro major problems since CoH came to the mac, today i have been hit with constant crashes, uptoabout 3 times a mission. During a rikti raid i staid on 1min before crashing again, even at low grapgics.
This screen print shows my memory use with safari, itunes and grab active
and this one shows memory with CoH runing in safe mode after 30seconds or so
only 6meg of ram is free
i am not great at understanding what is going on anymore, i may be missing something very obvios. and i certainly doesnt seem like i can blame CoH for the crashes.
twice when i crashed it game me exeption reports here they are:

This seems to show Merory as 2gig as oposed to the 4 gig i have, i dont know if this is important
It seems the second one has been lost by myself. it was very silimer all i noticed diferent is that it read the correct amount of memory.
I really am sorry about the wall of text, i just dont know what information is useful and what isnt. any help any1 can provide is apretiated. if not thankyou for reaching the bottom of this post -

Quote:I concurMy Shield scrapper used the armors to slot for recovery & additional endurance and the attacks to slot for additional defenses. Hmm, when I say it that way it does sound a bit... odd.
Quote:I just had another thought, you could boost your S/L resistance significantly by snagging Boxing/Tough so that may be an option as well. It would cap you out while One with the Shield is up.. i will use tough and weave to make a build with power choice designed for best defense and agro management at low lvls but with high lvl IOs with set bonuses over 50% defense to make some high end content easier on teams with limited support (shouldn't be too expensive by the looks of things).
as for this build you mentioned changing the slotting for foot stomp and shield charge, in my planned build (i cant post it atm as i am on my mac harddrive partition) i have swapped in a full obliteration, this yields recharge melee defense and recharge, and much improves the recharge ( i might move this into shield charge, i will test on test).
i have dropped assault, tactics and salt crystals and picked up conserve power, physical perfection and torrent. i felt this was better than fire as i the imob and single target blast couldn't be slotted enough to get decent use, i will get more from a low slotted passive and occasional con power.
I slotted torrent with 4 detonation (i think) to get decent enhancement values and get my lost AoE defense back to the soft cap. i dont think soft cap AoE is too important but im not ready to say good buy to it yet
If you Mr Awesome would like to have a look or anyone else for that matter i will post it later tonight or tomorrow morning. After that i will try it on the test server, i am still open to all sugestions though.
Cheers Mr Awesome -
I have been playing my shield/SS tank with this build.

41 - Assault is nice, i think the extra 10% damage come in handy i will probably test that a bit more tonight see if it does make a difference, i suspect looking at the numbers it doesn't matter as much as i think.
44 - Salt crystals, i thought i was being clever and thinking outside of the box, it did help me before i finished the build, usually sleeping a mob while i went to down on the EB gaining free + damage. The heal proc seemed cool, not really that useful it has never been the difference between life and death, and i don't want to play badly enough for it to.
47 - tactics, waste of a power, i get enough + acc from Rage, and if i need the + perception (i thought i did) all i need is 1 insight.
49 - hasten, love it, don't really want to respec out of it.
So this is my problem what do i do with my post 40 build, i think i can loose 2 or 3 powers, so i could take:
Energy Mastery - Grab conserve power (not needed too often but could be handy), Skip Focus Acc as it is a nasty end drain, and i think rage can cover my to hit needs.
Take physical perfection ans slot that for a nice (i think) Regen and recovery bonus or leave it with 1 slot and grab energy torrent which i think might not be a good idea, its a cone so i would need to jump back from combat, whereas a shield/SS at least in my case feels better in the center of a mob.
My other thought is fire mastery - one slot for the Imob and single target blast then slot up fireball for some more AoE.
Any input will be useful, the strengths and weaknesses of my current ideas or a completely new one.
Cheers -
I have one thats bugged for the founders fall AE, its the second find the CreyComp code for janet Kellums arc
-
Just roll a /willpower, use lizard skin chest, lizard face and monstrous hands.. lovin it

I have never made a build that couldn't be improved by some advice from others on the forums so i though i would give it ago with my new favorite toon
I have an Assault rifle Energy manipulation blaster now in the mid 30's, and am really enjoying the play, so i though it is now time to plan and IO'd build.
One thing i did find is that trying for the set bonuses did not necessarily fit what i wanted from the build, so i have frankenslotted to achieve the best possible enhanced power values. but sought out + damage mainly with bits of + recharge and recover aswell.

Hover as a means to avoid agro and position my cones better, however i found that staying with boost range a a seconds planing i was happy with the coverage i can get, and havent caused to much problem with knockback
I dont have too much problem with knock-back as i rarely use M30 grenade and so all knock back is in one direction and within my cones. I feel i can do without it as i can chain BU Buckshot, Flame thrower, Buckshot to whittle town alot of health. i could though crab it instead of ignite (it adds alot of single target damage, but would i used it?)
I originally took the jump pool, and while combat jumping is ace, i want tp as my travel power, as is this is a natural themed blaster who would shatter his legs and crush some vertebrae if he jumped that hi. so i would prefer to avoid other travel powers. TP also provides pseudo imob protection.
I slotted power push to be a cheap knockback protection. 4 slots and im covered for most things and from a low lvl ( i think i need to slot them all around lvl to for best effect?)
Ignite i took as i figured it would be nice for speeding up fights with AVs
I like ot blap, but i dont need to on teams and it really doesn't get the best out of AR, so i kept oly bone smasher as it has quick activation, i can fire of that and power push and get back to coning.
I took munitions master not because it would be the best, but because it fits the theme and i want to arrest people with a guided rocket.
My buget is going to be somewhere around 150 mill + i already have the hami-o's
so i think i can spend more than i have but what i save an can use towards my second build so solo play.

very similar just had to get aid self, as it drastically speeds up play, and i worry a little less about concept as i want to be able solo content when i cant get a team to try it, and wont be allied with tanks buffers or debuffers who can compensate for my frailty. I have tried to get a bit of defence in there but curently only have about 22%
So basic guestions should i jumple some powers around, maber take tactics, can i acheive a better build with some slotting advice are some powers a waste (such as ignite)
So there it is Two build and some questions thrown out that in a disorganized heap. any help you can give would be appreciated. -
Thanx for the help, sorry i havent been replying in the thread i initiated, it started off quite slow and i forgot about it.
I am Improving the offense because on dodgey SO's that garner just under 30% defense i can handle what ever i encounter, except Rularuu without buffs. upping the HP and soft capping defense will mean i will have very little trouble, and on 8 man TF's where it gets tough there is likely to be someone to buff or debuff, or a huge amount damage comeing from elsewhere. Dead mobs deal no damage. I know some people may not agree with a tank that is designed to hurt people, but keeping the whole team safe is a priority for me and would not consider a built that had a detremental effect, as said all builds can function on SO's so this should function even better. (i only run rage when everything is going smoothly, as that power is more detremental to tanking than any set bonus).
Also i wanted something very different from my lvl 39 stone tank that i haven't used in along time, something active.
Thankyou everyone for your advice, i didn't consider running Assault, but i might try and work that in. im not sure i need a third AoE when i potentialy Shield Charge every 30 seconds Footstomp every 9 both boosted by 19% damage in set bonuses and 10% from assault and 80% from rage.
Melt Armour after testing does seem a bit rubbish, and will have little effect on high lvl mobs and almost no effect on Avs. Also fire mastery doesn't fit thematically so i may reconsider.
I will work on a new build around the new slotting ideas, as although i use the search function in mids to find set bonuses i get distracted by shiny ones like obliteration.
edit.. i may take stone mastery, i hear salt crystals is good for grabbing agro, and can be used for cheap set bonuses and does ok -defense -
I am currently lvl 47 and have started placing bids to get the items on this list, not necessarily all at 50 like the build shows, but cheaper ones in the low 40's or high 30's.
I have not taken tough or weave because i didn't particularly want to, preferred to keep more of the offense, and have achieved what i think is quite respectable defense without the fighting pool, but i am open to suggestions.
One thing i have noticed is that my Hp without one with the shield is high enough that that i don't think i would need it to often. so i could lose that and hasten (which was more of an after thought really) to help make way for the fighting pool.

So really what im wondering is, what you would change and why. I do not believe in anyway that this is a gimped build just one that could be better.
P.s i have some of these IO's already 65 million in funds, 501 merits and patience. that is my budget, so i don't thing i can throw in luck of that gamblers and defiantly no PVP IO's
P.s
On second thoughts i probably could slot LoTG just not the 7.5%
and i will likely change mocking bereavement for perfect, if only for the name zinger -
If it during the week... and not Thursday i could join to. with an
nrg/nrg brute
claws/elec stalker
necro/poison mm -
I would be very interested in this,
necro/poison MM
nrg/nrg brute (with taunt and temp fly power)
and a claws/elec stalker... not ideal but you never know
i wouldn't be able to do it sunday afternoon like its done blue side though -
[ QUOTE ]
Or buy a PC cause mac sucks :P
[/ QUOTE ]
I am sooo not getting into that.. i like marmite two perhaps we like different things
And @Standoff it seems i wont need to rebind keys to get all the function keys to work i just need to use two buttons instead
fn + F11 for a screen print
Fn + F7 for ready etc
thank you very much for the help -
I recently bought an I mac as my new computer but cos im quite fond of this game and team fortress i needed to run windows with boot camp.
i am using the smaller wireless keyboard and have found that none of the F* buttons work i am also unable to take screen prints which is a shame. i was wondering if any1 knows of a way around this apart from using VM fusion and using the OS X screen capture or buying a windows USB keyboard.
also is it as simple to bind to F* buttons as any other? im board of typing "Ready!"
P.S same goes for capturing the moment of death in team fortress with F5
Cheers -
Im not really sure why i made this in the first place but i really enjoyed it, and now its lvl 47, i was thinking about IOing it and decided to focus on defense and damage buffs.
I my main concerns are that im not to sure ho to slot shockwave and if i have the pool powers right.
I took Stamina as i could get + damage from in while conserve power offered nothing, would you recommend trying stamina less
i diddnt think i would need aid self as with the defence + resist i should be survivable enough to rely on respites, water spout and power surge in emergencies (and obviosly placate)
Also not sure how much i will miss hasten, ive never taken it on this toon and never really missed it.
What you will see next is the build, please if i have done anything stupid bar choosing claws/elec feel free to let me know. Cheers

id like to do this too. i can bring a brute, defender or MM. @herculon
-
I too hate hitting 50. i get quite exited buy the prospect and feel great about my toon reaching its full potential (well nearly, so many IOs). and then i realize its don't and i have to find another toon that i enjoy playing, and that to do it i need to rediscover lvls 1-20 many more times.
hope you enjoy pvp with your dom, and good luck with your nxt alt.
Edit :- Forgot the mega gratz!! -
As far as i know, just one or two. its just not the same anymore. the community aspect was removed by the 50 limit of the zone and it requires far more organization and effort than the states or recluse SF
-
I like it, but my tank is fire/nrg, i have it slotted that i can use it twice during the duration of fiery embrace and whirling hands. combine that with blazing arua and burn it helps churn out some respectable damage.
however as a invul its probably quite quite skip able a long as you have no problems holding ago like you say.
let the blasters do the AoE damage unless you can fit it into your build, it cant do any harm + sciroccos dervish is a lovely set that you could wack in it -
[ QUOTE ]
There is always a base chance to hit of 5%, so 45% def puts them at the lowest chance of hitting you.
[/ QUOTE ]
as far as i understand this is right, no hard cap as its all relative between what your facing and yourself -
[ QUOTE ]
Blasters can pull, of course they can, i dont mind playing wicket keeper and catching the baddies before they get to the blaster. HOWEVER if i say "pulling" and taunt a few then take cover, imagine my surprise when i see a snipe attack fly past my head... at a different mob... OO blimey, now weve got twice the amount of bad guys we want coming in.
[/ QUOTE ]
i hate this and it seems to be coming more common, i have found myself announcing a pull because there are 2 or even 3 groups very close together and i not have half of em agroed b4 i reach the agro cap, imagine my my surprise when after taunting and finding cover i see half of the mobs following me imobalised and the peacebringer leaping into the middle... the was a team wipe before any thing i typed registered. i know accepts that on some teams will need to learn the hard way -
/poison MM
Totally neuters them, cant hit cant build fury, and they slowly crumble even through god mode.
lvl 50 with Mace master is even better -
stalkers that keep a low profile striking at the heavy hitters don't annoy me. but i hate the ones that want to ghost the glowies and find the names boss while the rest of the team are fighting their way through the rest of the mission.
