Annoying PVE stalkers

Browsing the US boards and noticed a few posts of people saying things like "I hate teaming with stalkers who rush off to rehide". Does this really annoy people? With naff defences I normally rehide/placate against a reasonably fresh and uncontrolled spawn of enemies.

stalkers that keep a low profile striking at the heavy hitters don't annoy me. but i hate the ones that want to ghost the glowies and find the names boss while the rest of the team are fighting their way through the rest of the mission.

People who say they hate s talker for the re-hide, its well as bad as saying they dislike any other class for operating under their inherant.

Id much rather, and im sure any team im in should rather me re-sterealth and assassin strike if possible just for the high damge on, as appoised to scrapping, which si somehting I, certainly as pre-stamina, can't do yet.

I agree running off may not be the way to do about it, but then for say /regen its the only way to stealth up, as SR I have a few more options to remain in battle, allowing me to be there to soak up agro from the softer targets, but still restealth.

As an /SR I dont think i ever ran off to rehide after getting placate at lvl 12. Now even without eldue going, i can often stand in the middle of a big mob and still get back into hide. Usually im on the edges of the mob wiping up and trying to find any pesky mobs that need to be taken out fast. Always does amuse me when I see another stalker run off in order to get back into hide though. But at the end of the day, If i wanna get back into hide when placate isnt up, then i still have to stop attacking for 10 seconds. Just cos I dont run off doesnt mean im doing any damage in that time. Usually though ile just get scrappy in large mobs and use placate as it comes up. If im going against EBs and such, then ile often just stand there and wait for it as AS really does outdamage anything else we can do (standing there is awesome fun with SR esp in front of a ballistae using repulsion that no one else can get close to )

Its a bit like saying I hate brutes that build their fury.

Exactly.

I have a 50 Ninja/Regen Stalker, and because all the enemies' attacks actually hit, I frequently found myself hiding behind the Brute, or the healing Corruptor, just waiting to rehide and pull off a massive Assassin's Strike, thereby saving the team's butt by finishing off the Arch-villain before he could fire off the last devastating AoE.

I never had any comments about that playstyle though. No negative ones, I mean.

For well over half their career a stalker in a team is really depending on the rehide, as without that tier 9 attack they are so 'so-so'
After that point tho if thats all your doing then I'd be shaking my head thinking to myself that the stalker player could be doing so much more Get in there and take down as much as you can to under half health for the corrs (no,not the group ) to unleash scourge fireballs of d00m!

I dont really get hung up about anything a villain does. A villain is a bad person lacking morales. So when I play alongside any, I really dont give a hoot how they play and I have no good expectations. I did see a seemably really cowardly Brute the other day at the back of the team telling other people what to do and letting them get the all the aggro...that kind of got to me, as that is not Brute-like.

Ditto, it's something of a pet hate of mine. Although that's hardly unique to stalkers. I don't understand the compulsion to run straight into a mission, not bother waiting for any buffs, and go fill in the map. Invis is nice for when the team wants to stealth, or wants to know which way the final boss is, but mostly it's unneccessary and unwanted. I find it more annoying on character types that are likely to be more key to a team functioning well than on stalkers, but it still irritates me.

My stalker is somewhat new but I see him as having two styles of play. When doing solo missions I will always wait until I am hidden before I move on to a new group of victims. When teaming I will act as a scout to locate where the next bunch of foes are and then position myself ready to attack with the rest of the team. I've only ever rushed to the end to find the glowies or take down the end target if the team themselves wanted it due to time constraints (after all my stalker is a psychotic sadist and running past all those sweet victims just waiting to be ripped apart is no fun for him).

When fighting with the team against a group of victims I'd only stand back and re-hide if it is clear the rest of the team actually need/want me to use my assassination strike - more often than not the opening attack is never needed again once the fight has actually begun (and I'm too busy enjoying all the blood being spattered over me as I rip the victims apart).

It's so enjoyable to play a right headcase to offset the squeaky clean defender

It's the stalkers who don't team well that cause me to mutter the word "hate" now and then. This has a lot to do with the "My only attack is Assassin Strike and when I can't do that for a one-hit kill I should run away" mentality. It's an awesome move and yes, there are times to run and re-hide. There are also time that you shouldn't leave your teammates with the huge mob you just aggro'd and led into them.
Really it depends on the team. If you're a small team the re-hide thing doesn't work too well, particularly if the other members are squishy. That's just the way it usually plays out with me.

I can't express how many times I've been on a team and we were all getting ready when suddenly a stalker runs past us with a mob or two of carnies behind them. It's not the rehide strategy that I don't like. It's the whole "doesn't think of the team" aspect of it.
If that makes any sense.
