Problems with My Shield/SS build post 40
Well, you've your defenses covered; I do agree that you won't get a lot of mileage out of your 41-49 powers.
Hasten probably makes sense to get Shield Charge back quickly... personally I'd slot Scirocco's Dervish, all but the proc, and a common recharge in SC and Foot Stomp... similar damage/accuracy numbers with better recharge and you can afford to loose a little melee defense on the slotting.
I would replace Swift with Hurdle; Hurdle stacks very nicely with CJ/SJ. I also would consider 3 slotting Active Defense to double stack it; ideally with Membrane HO's to boost the debuff resistance. As it stands now with a single recharge you're just perma on it... all it takes is one slow and you'll have mez protection gaps. At the least put two recharges in it.
One question I'd ask is how's your endurance? I used 4 Gift of the Ancients in all my defense powers on my BS/Shield scrapper and with all that additional endurance and recovery I never have any hint of end problems unless I've been in constant combat for over 5 minutes without any letup. Remember that the 4 slot bonus of GotA is 1.8 additional points of endurance. You'd sacrifice the regen of the LotG to gain the extra endurance so it's your call if the trade off is worth it.
Getting back to your question about your last 4 powers, I would be tempted to go one of two ways.
Either:
- Char
- Fire Blast
- Fire Ball
- Hasten
- Conserve Power
- Laser Beam Eyes
- Physical Perfection OR Energy Torrent
- Hasten OR whichever you didn't choose earlier.
I just had another thought, you could boost your S/L resistance significantly by snagging Boxing/Tough so that may be an option as well. It would cap you out while One with the Shield is up.
COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes
My Shield scrapper used the armors to slot for recovery & additional endurance and the attacks to slot for additional defenses. Hmm, when I say it that way it does sound a bit... odd.

as for this build you mentioned changing the slotting for foot stomp and shield charge, in my planned build (i cant post it atm as i am on my mac harddrive partition) i have swapped in a full obliteration, this yields recharge melee defense and recharge, and much improves the recharge ( i might move this into shield charge, i will test on test).
i have dropped assault, tactics and salt crystals and picked up conserve power, physical perfection and torrent. i felt this was better than fire as i the imob and single target blast couldn't be slotted enough to get decent use, i will get more from a low slotted passive and occasional con power.
I slotted torrent with 4 detonation (i think) to get decent enhancement values and get my lost AoE defense back to the soft cap. i dont think soft cap AoE is too important but im not ready to say good buy to it yet
If you Mr Awesome would like to have a look or anyone else for that matter i will post it later tonight or tomorrow morning. After that i will try it on the test server, i am still open to all sugestions though.
Cheers Mr Awesome
I have been playing my shield/SS tank with this build.

Set Bonus Totals:
(I have eliminated alot of the unimportant buffs from the list
41 - Assault is nice, i think the extra 10% damage come in handy i will probably test that a bit more tonight see if it does make a difference, i suspect looking at the numbers it doesn't matter as much as i think.
44 - Salt crystals, i thought i was being clever and thinking outside of the box, it did help me before i finished the build, usually sleeping a mob while i went to down on the EB gaining free + damage. The heal proc seemed cool, not really that useful it has never been the difference between life and death, and i don't want to play badly enough for it to.
47 - tactics, waste of a power, i get enough + acc from Rage, and if i need the + perception (i thought i did) all i need is 1 insight.
49 - hasten, love it, don't really want to respec out of it.
So this is my problem what do i do with my post 40 build, i think i can loose 2 or 3 powers, so i could take:
Energy Mastery - Grab conserve power (not needed too often but could be handy), Skip Focus Acc as it is a nasty end drain, and i think rage can cover my to hit needs.
Take physical perfection ans slot that for a nice (i think) Regen and recovery bonus or leave it with 1 slot and grab energy torrent which i think might not be a good idea, its a cone so i would need to jump back from combat, whereas a shield/SS at least in my case feels better in the center of a mob.
My other thought is fire mastery - one slot for the Imob and single target blast then slot up fireball for some more AoE.
Any input will be useful, the strengths and weaknesses of my current ideas or a completely new one.
Cheers
