Illusion/Rad :: [Defiant Toon] ::
You should really slot for more endurance reduction since /Rad is fairly endheavy + some recharges in various powers would go a long way (hasten and AM are far from perma)
A few things:
Blind, Your most important power, always 6 slot and preferably with 2 acc, 2 rech, 2 hold
Radiation Infection, it doesn't really need the defense debuffs for PvE. It's nice to have in PvP but I'm guessing this is a PvE toon because of your power choices.
Superior Invis, slot mainly for end reds since it's a big endhog. Def buffs are ok but only if you have the slots.
Enervating Field, uses a lot of end so thats your primary concern. Slot at least 2 end reds and if you have the slots you can put in the recharge or maybe even a 3rd end red
Fly, if you want to use this in combat I would stick at least 1 end red in it.
Phantom Army, base accuracy is pretty high so consider going 3 rech, 3 dmg instead.
Health, isn't a very good power on a squishy but can still help to lessen downtime between fights....You've got a selfheal so grab hurdle instead.
Spectral Terror, the numbers are wrong, unless they changed it? If not then it's perma so slot with a mix of acc and fear dur.
Lingering Radiation, one of the most important powers in the Rad set. Slows movement, recharge and regen. This power is the reason why we can solo Lusca. Slot with 2 acc, 3 rech and maybe 1 end red if you have the slot.
Flash, you should really put some recharges in this. If you don't it will roughly be up about every 2 weeks. Might aswell skip the power then. Slot 2 acc, 2 rech, 2 hold dur.
Phantasm, at first you will love since you will be a solo powerhouse. After epics he basically just gets annoying with his knockback attacks.
He's perma so why would you slot for recharges??
EM Pulse, the base hold dur is really long so recharges are needed more than hold durs. Go 2 acc, 3 rech, 1 hold dur
Fallout, is basically a useless power. You will require a dead teammate to use this power and unless he isn't in the middle of a big mob it's of even less use. Skip it.
Instead of fallout you should definately go for conserve power. As I said Rad is fairly end heavy and you will see yourself running out of endurance so it can save your life.

Just a random musing from using it with my Fire/Rad but I find Choking Cloud great and on paper it should blend nicely with Spectral Terror as it won't aggro them. You can Spec Terror them, run in and choke. You do need to 6 slot Cloud though and its another toggle added to your list butr I run Hotfeet, Choking Cloud, RI & EF happily most of the time, dropping Hotfeet if the End is running out.
I'd consider Choking Cloud instead of Flash maybe.
Conserve Power I'm not so sure on. It's got a 10 minute recharge which always seems too much for me.
Deceive is a great little power. I've found it great on Carni at level 42 (respeced it in) and Confuse is wonderful on my low level Dominator, especially when soloing. Could be useful in the lower levels for you. Dunno where you could cram it in though to be honest.

Yea aint that the truth.. my fire/emp was a NIGHTMARE to sort out so it cud exemp and do whatever else i wanted dynamically, without losing key powers at the wrong times.
This is proving to be "interesting" on where and when I can put things

yeah id make a case for choking cloud as well due to ill being a pretty *soft* control set, altho with your own personal KB monkey following you around might not be that handy no idea where you would cram it in i cant find anywhere to stick it
i would suggest sticking another end red slot on EF as out of the 2 toggle debuffs i guess you'll be laying this down first in pve (i know i do) and its very endy, but that may just be my mileage.
also something to mull over maybe another acc slot on phant? as he is out most of the time and is doing most if not all of your damage.

EF needs 3 slots of end red imo. My rad is an endurance monster and thats without hasten. cant imagine what kind of trouble you will run into with hasten, choking cloud, ef, ri etc.
I never slotted RI for Def Debuff before ED. Instead ToHitdeBuff was a much wiser choice. Now, I always 3 slot RI for Def Debuff (with 3 ToHitDeBuff too ofc). This allows me to drop 1 acc ench for a PvP build. In PvE, innacurate soft controls like stalagmites become extremely accurate.
Choking cloud is an endurance nightmare. I regularly feel like its not delivering bang for buck. Too innacurate, even under the effects of a 3 slotted def debuff RI.
Lingering Rad deserves slots if you want it to be total effective. 4 slotting at minimum really. 2 Acc, 2 (pref 3) Recharge. Its a really great power.
If you want to save slots, i'd consider removing hold dur from EMP. What isnt dead within 30 seconds in CoH these days? Apart from AVs of course, but you wont be holding them for 30 seconds all too often. ;P.

Well, just a few things:
In my oppinion you will have serious end issues before you get SOs and Stamina... Rad.Infection + Enervating field + Sup. Inv. without Stamina and SOs End Red mean endurance crash for sure...
I would delay supperior invisibility and / or Enervating field until the early 20s and would choose the fitness pool earlyer in order to get Stamina a.s.a.p.
Radiation Infection is a must, so i would take it at lvl 6 if not earlier (I'd switch Accelerate metabolism and Raidation Infection).
Finally I'd go for group invisibility instead of S.I.... I know S.I. is much better but you already have enough Toggles
in your secondaries...
Last one point... Try to get deceive as early as possible...Is an extreme good power... Just get used to it and it will be you oppening attack power...
I would delay Hasten until 22 in order to get decive at lvl 6...

Choking Cloud is rubbish I've found - yes it's that bad, and the targets are normally dead before it kicks in. Flash is better I'd say. To me, there is also no point in running Spectral Terror with Choking Cloud, simply because it is a waste of endurance, since you will be more reliant on using other methods of control eg Flash (if anything) and Phantom Army, which double up as extra damage. Might be useful for PvP but I can't see how...might be better for controllers with an immobilizing power.
Talking about Conserve power....You know 3 REC SOs in it bring it down to 5 mins, and along with hasten with 3 REC SOs and AM (6 slotted, but with 3 REC SOs), bring it down to about 3 mins 52 seconds? Another great thing about it, other than the endurance discount, is that all you need to do is press it for it to work - no mob dependent drain.

[/ QUOTE ]With hasten, I'd rather go 2 acc 3 hold 1 rech, especiall for char that has AM as well. The 2nd recharge just wont do nearly as much as the 3rd hold when hasten/AM is up.
Concerning Chocking cloud, i've to agree... You have better control powers in your primaries... CC may be fine for a defender but for a controller its only a waste of endurance...
Concerning the rechrage reduction in Blind, with AM+Hasten+1SO you have enough... Unless you want to be a "Blind Auto Turret"

Nah, its offically useless for PvP
I find it a really useful power with Fire, run it 24/7, but as you say the fact they can't run anywhere helps. Plus I have the other AOE controls anyway so i'm not sacrificing anything.
I left off taking Enervating Field until the 20s due to stamina constraints. The indirect Damage buff would have been useful in the teens but it + RI was just sucking down the End. Especially if you are going to be running Superior Invis too. I'd agree that Group Invis is the more End friendly power and its fine against most things bar snipers & droids with good perception.

the great thing about superior invisibility is that you get to lead your pets into the middle of the mobs instead of them running off some where else, i found phantasm would some times just sit behind me other wise while i was being attacked

Yea.. I have noticed that myself. Sometimes I've had to move him closer or move somewhere to get him to notice. My PA I've had no problems with (according to that PA bugchange we have), I can be where up to 84yards away (even up in the air) and they still respond to me.. overall I'm having fun with it.. it's turning into a lil AV/GM killer.

I tend to keep him unsummoned. I got *all* illusion powers and the way I play is like, I stealth to the next mob just before the team is done with the current mob and do Decieve boss > Decieve boss > Decieve lt. > Team arrives and starts killing > Decieve boss > Decieve lt. > Decieve boss etc.

That's cause you have a lousy secondary Pious [img]/uk/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]. With ill/rad it's just deceive, debuff, hold and destroy [img]/uk/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I prefer go into the mob invis and with the boss targetted, EM pulse and hold in a row :P... if the team is quick killing, and EM isnt ready for the next mob, PA + ST does very well. If the team is extremelly quick (like 2 kins and 3 blasters or something like that) and u dont have PA nor EM ready yet.. invis+flash does just as well too. I use deceive only for AVs really :s
Okay peeps.. went thru my old build, and came up with this one, for my 2nd controller on Defiant.
Any advice or pointers will be appreciated, as I would like to make a go of this one, with my Fire/Rad, as I found the Ill/Rad, rather fun during the RV event.
