I've never been a Melee fighter fan, always prefered Trollers or fenders... Played some scrappers (BS/INV-Spines/SS-MA/SS-FM/FA) but always got bored around lvl 25 (even earlier)... But then Cyborg Booster pack came and I started a Claws/Regen Cyborg Scrapper... I just love him! Got lvl 42 in 2 weeks and half! And I enjoy large battles against hard foes: full team is wiped out except tank and me, he's getting red, while I just have 5% health... And then..Bingo! Dull Pain Recharges!!!No chance to win damned nemessis!

[ QUOTE ]
Sorudo you mentioned that MA/Claws doesnt fit thematically with a Magician - but how many magicians would get involvied in fisticuffs - surely any decent magician would fashion a weapon from thin air...
[/ QUOTE ]
This is the point! A magician who cannot invoke elemental weaponry and prefers to use fists instead? Fire Sword is just perfect for a magician...
Concerning the mutant... yes maybe to use elemental weapons could be difficult for mutant toons (but look at Pyro for instance he can manipulate fire...Why do not create fire blades to hit foes?)... In any case if weapons do not fit with your toon just avoid them! But do not ask devs to change the powersets just to allow them to fit with your toon... If you have a mutant who can porduce stone blocks to emerge form earth you will get a earth troller and Stone Cages/ Fossilize / Stone prison... But if he is not able to cast gas form earth you should skip volcanic gases... You will miss a very good power, but that is your toon concept, and you should to go ahead with him... If there was only one way to build toons everyone would be the same... Maybe this is too radical as you would miss one of the must powers of a build, but if you are really sticked to your concept you would... -
I'm also a PvPing nuv...just practising with my Claws/regen (which is a PVE build). The main problem is that you rely on a Melee atack to kill a blaster... I have very short experience atm but actually 99% of the times I do not have any chance to use my eviscerate... Mainly i'm using focus, shockwave and nemessis staff... Although the damned IO's Knokback protection bonuses does not allow these attacks to shine as they should do they are doing pretty well atm. Can't wait I13 to be released to create PvPing builds for all my toons!
-
You are right neko, Knockbacks decreases effectivity of Ta quite a lot, but the same happens with all AoE based AT (rads Fire earth trollers and Dark looses efectivity when foes spread)... And concerning heavy damage teams, frankly speaking the only power for me that from time to time is shooted for nothing is rain of arrows, I hate the extremely long activation...
Concerning EMP arrow, I have focused my IOs sets for +rech red and +acc bonus and having hasten on auto, it recharges way much faster than my troller's volcanic gases... I alway have to eat a blue tab afterwards...
i personally wnet for Ice and stun arrows which allow me to soloing easily (much more than with my rad)... I went for Power mastery and my optimal combo is: Power Build up + Flash arrow + EMP Arrow (1-2 blue tabs) + OSA + Fire arrow + Disruption + Acid + Sit down and watch them burn (or Freeze a Hard foe). Of course if OSA burns! this is the worst point...OSA has been bugged from the beginning...It does not burn for whole missions no mater which are the circumnstaces!!! It's trully frustating! -
Earth/Kin lvl 50
Plant/Storm Lvl 21
Illusion/Sound lvl 36 -
I have a lvl 50 TA/A and actually is one of the toons I enjoy the most! Ok, they do not buff or heal teammates, but the effect of their debuffs on foes are devastating! I do not consider TA as a pure defender powerset, but more as a Defender/Controller/Blaster hybrid. It is not necessary to say how great OSA or RoA are, but other powers like disruption arrow, glue arrow or Acid arrow are also great besides the fact that their cost is minimal, their recharge is fast and they stack!!! And EMP Arrow... It's just amazing!! Someone said that EMP Pulse is the best AoE hold in game (besides Volcanic gases), well then here you have the best AoE hold but Targetede instead of PAoE, so much more better!!! By the way, got also a 50 Rad and except for accelerate metabolism and the AoE Heal, TA is much more useful... RAD shines against AV/EB and GM and TA against Big mobs (have you ever tryed to run a farm miss with a fire/kin? The combo is... Mass Destruction Team!!!) and big mobs are much more common in game than AVs! Do not get me wrong, I love Rad, it was the first powerset I played and i enjoy it and i will not dare to say which AT is better than another, but with all the anchors well known problems (even though you use a bid the anchor usually is killed the first)as per my expierence i think that click and forget powers are more useful than anchor/toggled ones.
Maybe TA is not the typical Defender but in my oppinion is one of the most enjoyable to play! Much more than just healing or buffing your teammates every time they say "SB please" or the AoE buff recharges...
Well of course sometimes i have found ppl who has kicked me form teams when they realised I was TA, saying TA was completelly unuseless as a fender... But these are the same n00bs tham cosider all defenders as healers. -
Well, I just lvled 32, so no thunderous blast yet... I use it as oftenly as possible to assure hits (specially with short circuit or telsa cage on a though foe).
-
This is my scheduled PVE build... I'll have to adjust it to PVP eventually... At present I'm lvl 31; And i'm not sure whether i'll slot Pet Damage or End Mod set in Voltaic Sentinel...

Thanks for the advice mate!
PvE Power is clearly better... What about PvP? Any experiece? -
I could join with a Ta/Ar or Rad/Rad (Frankly, i'd prefer the TA)... But when and which server (both toons in onion)....
-
Hi mates! I'm at present playing a Kinethics/Electric blast defender, focusing on leeching endurance. My question is, which epic pool would you get Power Mastery or electrical Mastery... In one hand we have the great Power Build up which would increase greatly the draining of Transference/Short Circuit, on the other Power Sink (auto hit AoE)... Both had a great attack (but my playstyle is to be surrounded by foes spamming transfussion, Short Circuit and Ball lighting, hence thunder Strike would not be a very clever choice due to the AoE knockback), and Electric has a better armor than Power...What to do?
Thanks -
Hi mates! I have a lvl 9 NW, and since it is my frist Epic toon ever I decided to take a look to the other NW posts and build accoridngly... Any suggestion will be highly welcome! (as far a I have read, travel power/hasten can be avoided as well as smoke grenade; an I like the combo assault TT:assault!!!)

And it keeps aggroing... Can other TA give me their oppinion please?..i've slotted Gausians syncronized fire control on Flash arrow, may this cause it to aggro (-rech enhancement)? Think this could be the cause...
-
Many diferent foes, among them Nemesis, Nurons (antimatter bots cannot remeber the name), rikti, council...
-
Hey Positron!
When Flash Arrow has been nerfed? I've seraching trhough announcement forum but i cannot found any info during the last 3 months... The thing is that since one or two weeks ago, It has stared to aggro foes when in principle it should not aggro (you can imagine the faces of my teammates when the squishy fenedr aggroes a whole mob withouth informing them in advance...quite embarrassing)... Is this a bug to be fixed or it has actaully been nerfed? If so, this power has loose its efectiveness quite much!
-
Although we failed it wss fun... All of us capped Debt
-
Ok At present we have:
1Durin Danark lvl 50 Fir/fir tank
2Psy Knight prolly lvl 45 Mind/Rad/Fire Controller
3Star Frost - 50 Blaster or (lvl 45 scrapper)
4Buffylucious, lvl 45 (hopefully) emp/arch defender
5Power Glove Lvl 49 (prolly 50) Enrg/Enrg/FM Blapper.
Maybe Phil will join us, and got other mates from Sg that maybe will join too..
To assure success we would need a Stone Tank, a Kin and another damage dealer...
In any case, let's meet tomorrow 14/06/08 at 11:00 pm in fornt of Statesman. Hope to see ytou all there. -
I guess we will need you blaster as many of teammates will need sk...
-
Hi Rooks!
Well I could join with:
Cosmic Avneger: Rad/Rad defender 50
Triassic: earth control / Kin (I have ID)50
Power Glove : Enrg/Enrg Blapper 2 ticks away from 49
Dark Hawk : TA/ARCH Defender (Have oil slick, however she's 41 atm). -
Anyone Interested? I will be available on Fri / Sat night (starting form 23:00 pm... A bit too late i know)... Well if anyone wants to burn the midnight oil saving the world pelase post here. (BTW, i'll bring Power Glove, Lvl 48 -49 expected- Enr/Enr/FMatsery Blapper)....
-
yes, good point!!! I am a little grasshopper with a lot to learn concerning PvP... BTW, I'm half way to 49, expecting to start pvping next week end... Hope to see you all soon at RV!
-
Hi Mate!!! Thanks all for the suggestions... So, as per your advices i think my PvE build of Power Glove is much better for PvP than the build i was planning... Let me post my current build of Power Glove... He is now 47:

This is my regular blapper now, and yes, I'll play mainly RV as he is my badgehunting toon... Any change's suggested? (besides slotting Hurdle and getting health instead of Swift... I'll plann accordingly) Ah! Since he is mainly a melee fighter, does it make sense to get boost range? No Nova and no Total Focus... sounds strange to me, but you are right... a Stalker will cut me in two while i'm jumping...Ah! and since i'll start pvping once i get 50, it does not matter if i get SS at 50, does it?
BTW Phil, i hope you and Rooks want to repeat the mythical State's TF we performed last year...I hope to see rock owning Recluse again!!!I'll prepare it once Power Glove get's 49... And I also hope to see you in PvP zones soon!
