I'll pop by again tonight at 10PM with Torgo, anyone going to be present?

Posted

Aye. Should be there for a little while at least but how will GG cope without its resident Stoic Soviet Super Soldier?

Or should that be Soviet Super Stoic Soldier... or maybe... no, I'll stop.

Wish I could come but I'm away for the weekend. Hopefully I'll be back for Monday when either Tara or one of my alts will turn up.

Lumpy may or may not make an appearance.

He's trying hard not to get captured by those mages who kept trying to transport him to their lair by mass swapping him with a pumpkin.

Who would have thought quantum physics and magic were so closely related ?

I'm there from 9PM, spend an hour at the Clocktower to keep things rolling, then come back at 11PM.

Slighty exhausting, but fun never the less.

Just thinking, do we want to have a GG-esque thread? If we do, I think it should be posted here in the RP forum rather than the general villains forum... Although I must say I'm not sure we really need to actually have one...

Depends on what the Villain RPers feel like it. I say it's up to them.

I'd say you're currently posting in it

Quite, but at the moment this just the testing and concept thread .

Keeping rolling in the idea's on why we're here in the first place.

First observation - wow! (In the amazed way, not the... oh never mind)

Second observation - no matter where we are in CoX, us roleplayers always manage to find a large erection to stand underneath....

Thirdly, the possibility for cross-game plots has now quadrillipupled (new word)

Fourthly, I don't think it matters too much why villains should congregate there. I took Rose along (after snazzing her up with the cossie tokens, naturally) and had pleasant chats with characters I both knew and who were new to me. Being chatted up by a robot is fast becoming second nature at any rate and the handy park benches are good ledgesit opportunities.

Fifthly, I'm with Prize and others on the issue of lag - CoV is by far the laggiest game I own even with all the sliders at the lowest level/off - so, I intend to roleplay Rose more than play her as the original game was intended, so to speak.

and Sixthly (!) - no, wait. There is no 'sixthly' - huzzah!

Well done RP researchers

New Clocktower Back Story

1) It's Dr. Maelstrom's Pseudo-Discombobulator
2) It froze at the exact time that the Rikti War started.
3) It's Ghost Widow's Tether to the Physical plane.
4) It's the secret escape tunnel from Fort Recluse.
5) It was a Nazi Treasure that Recluse/Statesman liberated from the Axis when they were still friends.
6) The Clock Tower itself is just a Ghost.

Pick one, none or all

Hey, why not all of them?

Well, except number three; that one's kinda nullified by a certain story arc at level 15.

I liked the sinister power in the Clocktower Idea (As well as my alternate suggestion) the best.

By the way, did you all enjoy meeting Torgo tonight?

Torgo was cool, but I think he needs more quirks

Sorry I wasn't interacting much. Tiredness got the better of me. Leprechaun's accent was superb though.

Oh he has quirks. Look for Manos The Hands of Fate of YouTube. You'll see.

I just wish there was a Stalker Powerset with a Stick...

lol tyvm, and i really liked Torgo RC, he was a really nice original idea, i just liked him in general, reminded me a bit of Mr. Tumnus from TLTWATW but the bit about his MaStEr leaves tons to the imagination and even more you can fill in later

QFT. Thoroughly enjoyed deciphering that. Nice job.

A quiet night but Tress was, once again, highly amused by the Clocktower attendees and surprised to learn of the cooked food available.

Enjoyed Torgo, RC. Shame there's no hunchback slider in character creation.

Red Commissars Torgo FAQ

Q: Is Torgo an Original Creation?:

A: Sadly nope, he was a minor character from a Movie Flop Called Manos The Hands of Fate played by the deceased actor John Reynolds.

Q: Why does he speak lIkE tHiS?

A: In the movie, Whether Hal Warren had asked for it or John Reynolds simply let it slip (The man was into using the recreative drug of the sixties, LSD) and made Torgo speak in a halting stilted manner much like the G-Man from Half Life. I'm also trying to recreate the twitches and walking style of Reynalds, but that requires more research .

Q: What is Torgo?

A: Is Mid-Western American Satyr, and damn pRoUd oF iT. Actually, nobody knows. The Film's Protaganist was a Cultist Leader with a Freddy Mercury moustache and way too many wives who worshipped Manos.

Q: Is Torgo that really strong?

A: Not sure, I think this might by the old Comic Bookness leaking into things, the guy knocked out the main Character Hal Warren played by smacking him with a giant stick (His walking stick? staff? due to the film quality, we're not sure).

Q: Will Torgo change?

A: Of course, Torgo will not exactly be like the REAL Torgo, he himself is just a dimensional Carbon Copy of many. Some mannerisms also were inspired by Terry Pratchett's version of Igor in Discworld, Including the ability to appear from nowhere, make food in nano-seconds and a lovely sense of self preservation.

Q: This Torgo intrigues me further, where can I find out more about him?:

A: To see Torgo, you need to watch Mystery Science Theater 3000: Manos The Hands of Fate, which is avaliable on DVD or in little segments on YouTube (get the DVD folks though, BestBrains will love ya for it).

Q: Who is Torgo's current mAsTeR? And what is his job?

A: Recluse, Duh. He did bust Torgo out of the join. His job is to watch the Clocktower grounds and serve the guests there. He also knows it's mystical secret, but can't mention it because: iT vOiDs mY coNtraCT...

Q: Isn't Torgo copyrighted?

A: Nope, He and most of Manos: The Hands of Fate is now Public Domain (The film was made in the early sixties) and I'm not the first or last person to parody to make fun of the guy. Infact, Hal Warren, The youngest Daughter made contact with The Agony Booth last year (a major Bad Movie review website) and expressed great happiness of the cult following Manos has been given and her sadness that her father was not around to see it.

Q: Does Torgo have his own theme musc?:

A: Why yes, he does. Listen.

Q: Where can I learn more about Torgo/John Reynolds/Manos?

A: Here, Wikipedia will serve.

And remember: iT'l bE dArK soOn...

There was quite a bit going on IRL, what with Sport Relief and all the various sponsored events. Could be lots of people were watching/taking part in that?

I arrived a bit late last night and, despite it being a quiet night, Tress had a great conversation with Iceflame. Learned some interesting things about him...

RC, give it a chance - it's still early days. You guys chose a good location so, fingers crossed it'll get more attendees soon.
