Militia Thursdays

I blame my lack of ability to explain things properly .

When I said "leaders", I meant ICly, not OOCly. Basically, characters who would take full responsibility for failed missions/in charge of reporting back duties to the head office and such. As for plotlines etc. all characters would be equal.

Added to all of that, I'm possibly the most disorganised person in the world, and wouldn't want to hold any position or organisation (and the character I'd choose to play couldn't possibly run a team).

I just wanted to clarify something: If we're aiming to make a full team, surely that means a maximum of eight members, not ten? Sorry, I've only just realised that and it's been bugging me...

On another point, almost all my characters are designed for roleplaying so if there is going to be another group which does not start from level 1, any of my lot would love to join up. They're all between 11-16 mainly due to chronic altitis...

Monday nights are best for me.

Oh [censored], you're right! All I can sugest for the moment is that we run with the two team idea. Two people need to volunteer to join team B and we'll bring that up to 8 players. I'm glad you spotted that dante otherwise Thursday could have been very embarrasing for me. In short Stasis's line of thought is right so we are looking to have 16 Characetrs in all. that should leave enough for two medium teams or one full one and a small one no matter what.

Anyone willing to go on B Team list please say and i'll move the first two to volunteer. It looks as though flexibility on the night is going to be the key.

Well spotted Dante!

I can jump over to team Bravo.

Posted

I'm willing to jump over to Bravo too, for the greater good of smooth-running.

This has just reminded me to get the SG set up too, so I'll do that now.

Alright, let's see if I've got this straight.

There's going to be 2 teams: Team A and Team B - for want of better names.

Team A:
Scrappers - Pious, Hot Head
Blasters - Dutch Barbarian, Dante
Defenders - Ashen, Battleflag
Tanker - Finn29
Controller - Universe

Team B
Tanker - Lief_Roar
Controller - _Max_
+ others TBC

The 2 teams are under in the Militia but operate separately and have little IC contact as (OOC) A operate on Thursdays and B operate on a different day.

Is any of this correct? I'm getting a tad confused, I'm afraid...

It gets worse, I just realised if the Bravo group are going to meet on a Monday, I can't make it due to RL commitments (which are fairly new, hence my forgetfulness)

I think to be safe, I'm going to have to stick with Alpha.

Posted

Alpha and Bravo. Much better names.

Well, I'm free Mondays if that's the night Bravo are going to go with. So, I'd be willing to switch teams.

Posted

Count me in. Thursday or Monday, I'm free.

If it does end up taking part on the Monday, could I reserve two spots? There are a couple of people who need to know about this .

My character should be a Defender.

Posted

Well, I don't have a problem with Monday either, so we might as well go for that just to choose a day.

Posted

Well, I'd like to stick my oar in as a Scrapper as I've not played that yet. If I can go in with Stase in Bravo, then I can do the Mondays; but Thursday's are out for me....so...I can probably do a little solo work to get back to level for Thursdays I miss

Stas and Weasel are intent on ruining my long-standing stance on things like this, but what the hell. I'm in - got an interesting Defender concept.

It's all getting so confusing! I prefer Mondays as I can make a commitment to being there more regularly. However, I have said I will do Thursday so that's no problem. I can be on either team that'll have me.

Militia Update

Sorry for all of the confusion. If you're not confused then you're doing well. Here's what I've come up with to solve the problems we have:

1. Militia membership is now at a maximum of 16. The idea being that we can run 2 full teams if everyone arrives and if they don't we can divide up equally-ish when we meet. The teams will function independently.

2. No Alpha or Bravo teams, just a pool of 16 characters to form 2 teams out of every Thursday.

3. All new Militia members to join here listing their AT.

After a session or two we'll probably get into something of a team up routine.

I know nothing about Monday night sessions but if someone wants to use the 2nd session thread I posted to join that's fine. i can't face organising it at the moment though

In nutshell: A maximum of 16 characters meet up on Thursday at 7pm and we split into two teams to start work. the session finishes at 9ish and but peole can go back to the statue to chat if they wish.

We now need 6 more characters from the following list:

2 tankers or
2 scrappers
1 blaster
1 controller
1 defender

I'll see if I can keep an updated post of all members so I know when we're full. everyone please post a bio in The militia thread; it's a good way to keep track.

Thanks for sticking with this, it's harder than I thought.

Spot a prob let me know please.

This is The Militia roster as far as I know(Thanks Dante):

Scrapper - Pious
Scrapper - Hot Head
Blaster - Dutch Barbarian
Blaster - Dante
Defender - Ashen
Defender - Battleflag
Tanker – Finn29
Tanker - Lief_Roar
Controller - _Max_
Controller - Universe

New joiners please post your choices so i can update the list. Be aware of what the person in front of you has picked.

Any mistakes, please let me know.

Ok, if it's Thursday only, I'm dropping out. Sorry, but there are people who can't make it that day that I'd like to team with.

Thursday's are imposible for me Unsigning.

Posted

Aye, me too. Scheduling conflicts.

Posted

Sorry, I'm doing my best. Maybe you should organise a team and do the same thing on a night that suits you.

Real life conflicts are totally understood. My best night to be on is Monday but fortunately I can do Thursdays as well. If all goes well, there's nothing to say that a similar group can meet up on a different night. I guess we'll see how it goes.

That was my original plan: to see more IC players! I sort of lost sight of that in the process of trying to get this organised.

For an observers point of view, I think a big problem is you're trying to formalise it too much. Having a rigidly set time, and only playing at that time works fine for pen and paper RP because the players can't operate outside of that time, and time doesn't pass in the game world between those sessions, but in this setting it seems kinda off for a hero to only work two hours a week...

In essence you're creating a supergroup, don't restrict the SG to people who can play on Thursday, just have an overall idea of the theme of the SG, then you can make however many teams with whoever is available whenever you need to make them. Also I wouldn't say that a team must have one of each AT, that's just causing problems for yourself.

Perhaps you could think of the proposed weekly session as being a particular special mission set by the top leaders of the SG? Kinda like the members get up in the morning and find they have a message waiting for them telling them to meet at a certain place at 7pm to receive further details? But outside that they can team up together for municipal missions, and get to know one another better.

Just remember, the more rules and restrictions you place on online RP, the less popular it becomes.

Thanks for the comments Wonka. On the whole I think you're pretty much right. The very fact that there's been so much debate and discussion to have what amounts to a bit of fun shows it's more complicated than it should be. On the other hand, this is an experiment for me and i hope to learn from it. In the future, thanks to experience and comments such as your own, I may be able to improve upon it. As regards the restriction of one session a week, that was deliberate; it's something different...special, to look forward to. The rest of the week I can play as normal, just like everyone else can.

I'm not arguing with your comments, you're right, I'm just trying to explain my motivation.

By the way, thanks for taking the time to say that, I appreciate it.

I like the idea of a "weekly mission". With characters meeting on a mnore regular basis in between. I do think people are complicating matters somewhat, a pool of 16 players is a much nicer idea than 2 seperate teams of 8.

So it's Thursday night for those that can makje it, another night to be arranged for those that can't. I myself can normally do both nights so...

Goes without saying Finn29. And the same for me...
