Militia Thursdays

Just currently testing out builds for a Mind/FF Controller, and making a decision on 'who' the character is.

Right. Character bio/info:


Marcus "Tatters" Phillips, Spines/SR scrapper

Born and bred in Paragon, Marcus was a reckless kid, nothing illegal but just general mischief and troublemaking - living in Kings Row wasn't much fun...

After the Rikti invasion he realised he wanted to do more with his life and stuck his head in the books. Tragically, he was soon diagnosed with a disease which caused abnormal bone growth. His parents were heartbroken and searched everywhere for help. They came across a back street 'doctor' looking to make a name for himself who promised them a cure.

Sure enough, the cure worked... for a while... The bone growths became worse but the pain began to lessen and Marcus found he could control them, to an extent. The cure had increased the efficiency of his neural pathways allowing him to react quickly to any change in his body and attempt to reverse it. A side effect of this resulted in his thoughts, speech, movements and reflexes far surpassing human levels.

Upon discovering what he could do, Marcus took to the streets, looking to do some good (and some trouble on the side).

Now 19, Marcus has adopted the name Tatters due to the state of his clothing and fights crime whenever and wherever he can.

ooooh Marcus is going to be a problem, I can sse it coming. Nice back story, i particularly like the name by the way, it seems to add quite alot to fist impressions of the character.

I'm already on it Dante, I'm a bit of a would be writer on the side so I'm doing a piece of rp storyline to it all. I was thinking that this thread could be for chit chat and game info while another (as Leif Roar suggested) could be used for bios and I'd post in role storyline messages and comments there. I'm going to pinch the GG meet up point idea for us, haven't decided where yet.

well, if its an sg, the sg headquarters is most obvious.

He has a point, and if you wish, one of my non-SGed lv13s can found the SG, appoint Battleflag as the overall leader (giving him all the permissions), and drop out.

Well that sounds right to me, good thinking Pious and thanks for the offer Max. I've never had much to do with SGs before so I don't really know what's involved. Maybe it would be better if someone else took over that side of things. You for instance Max?

As far as team leadership goes I was going to start it off and then let nature take its course. In the storyline I'll be posting no one's appointed leader and it's up to the team to figure it out.

Right, I have to go and try to meet this months writing deadline(that's why I'm up so early); I've been playing far too much coh and doing little else. If anyone's interested in reading some quality superhero fiction you should have a look over at The Metahuman Press. Oh, damn!

I've just realised this is going to be a Thursday 7pm thing. That doesn't work for me, I've previously committed myself to the 3vp (pvp) competition, which is also Thursday evenings.

Sigh. And Dutch Barbarian and Ashen and I were having big discussions about this last night too, sounded like it was going to be interesting.

Sorry all, but I'm going to have to pull out (at least until I get knocked out of the tournament, but no idea how long that will take).

You're in if you want and blaster's ok but how would you feel about a scrapper or a defender? We have only one scrapper and one defender so it'd probably be better if you could pick one of the two, I'll play what's left. If your heart's set on a blaster just do that and I'll have a think. the only reason I'm concerned about the mix is I expect us to be short a few members most sessions. I'm sure I'll have to miss them occasionally. let me know as soon as you can please.

If Pious is dead set on a blaster, I may be able to change to a scrapper or defender if that would help. I prefer playing a blaster but I'm flexible if it helps the team.

I'd love to let you join now but team up numbers limit me. Once we're up and running I'll see about starting another group that may or may not involve me playing. If you want though, you could copy my original post and run your own version. I certainly wouldn't object if you wanted to copy any rp/ic stuff I post. All you'd need to do is change the team name and meet either somehwere else or at a different time. Have a think about it, it's just case of getting the people to sign up.

Hi. I've just read the introduction on the Militia thread and have a question before I start on my bio. Are you wanting to be the voice of "The Minister" or can I use it when writing my bio? I thought I nice way to introduce my character would be to write about their response when they open the package. But hey, I don't want to steal your thunder if you've got plans for later.

I will be the voice of The Ministry and Minister but you can certainly use them in your bio. If they're part of the world and your experience then you can't avoid including them in some way. I think it's important not to be too strict about anything, we can just rationalise everything to suit ourselves in the end.

I'm going to take a chance and assume I'm left with a defender character and post my bio. If necessary, I'll delete it and replace it with a different one. I just want to get things going so we're ready for Thursday. I'm wondering if a bit of drift from the original mix matters too much anyway.

I think that Pious is filling the second scrapper spot and I'm still going to field a blaster. I'm going to try something new this time and see how it goes, I hope you all like it.

I think the line up looks as follows:

1 Scrapper - Pious
2 Scrapper - Hot Head
1 Blaster - Dutch Barbarian
2 Blaster - Dante
1 Defender - Ashen
2 Defender - Battleflag
1 Tanker - "Reserved"
2 Tanker - Lief_Roar
1 Controller - _Max_
2 Controller - Universe

But I could be wrong, I know there may be some shuffling.

Thanks a lot for that Dante, you've saved me a job. The reserved slot goes to Finn29; he sent me a pm expressing interest when I first mentioned it.

Right posted my char bio.

I hope you don't mind me basically making someone higher up than minister (or maybe equal rank but on good terms with) dumping my guy on the team? To be honest it's the only time it'd happen and only to give my character a reason to join.

If you do mind however it's easily changed.

Also, on a somewhat related note, if there is a decent (and detailed) collection about praetorian earth and if so can someone tell me/send it to me? I haven't hit them yet with my CoH characters but may need info.
