Extremely bad behaviour

some players like to boast when they defeat others, they are poor players, the end
[/ QUOTE ]
So true! On the few very rare occasions I manage to get a kill I often can't help but boast a little And I suck cos I'm usually face down
*mutters* curse those spines/regen scrappers...
IN MEMORIUM OF GAYBABY
CRUELY TAKEN FROM THIS WORLD WHILE SO YOUNG
I don't see "YES I KILLED YOU!" as negative, this is an invitation to light banther.
"Y00 SUXORZ COS I KILLED Y00 20 ITEMS!" is a bit annoying, but it's still not what I'm talking about.
I enjoy some lighthearted banther as the next person, it's when it's boarderlining harrassment the problem occurs, and I do realize it's hard to tell where the line goes, but that is the reason I feel there should be some code of conduct, and a moderator or two to enforce it.
There is a code of conduct - send a petition:

Smyte's Load Screen: SIREN'S CALL
PvP on in 30 Seconds....
[Broadcast] Player A: ZOMG!111!! you are such a n00b cant belive you [Sweary word] did that!
[Broadcast] Player B: Why dont you just [Sweary Word] off?!?
Smyte's Load Screen: SHARKHEAD ISLAND
Thats what i got as soon as I entered Siren's in the middle of the afternoon last week.
Surely the same manners that most players bring to the table in PvE shouldnt just get launched out the window in PvP?
And why shouldnt you at least be polite to each other? Yes a bit of banter is more than acceptable, but not everyone finds certain comments funny and indeed there might be people that take offence to any comment.Personally i dont see the need to Gloat over a kill or dance over someones corpse (except yours Kensa )
You may well find yourself in a PvE team with someone you noticed acting like an idiot in PvP. So surely it is wise, in the long run, to at least try and not Gloat/Swear/Offend people?

and u missed red puton from ur alt list
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh? I dont have any alt called red puton tha's not an alt of mine, mate
What in heaven's name are you talking about?
Do you think anyone disagrees with you? Surely gloating isn't cricket, what? I missed the part when someone argued that swearing at other players is a good idea.
Yes, Gloating isnt cricket, as you put it, and no i dont think that anyone is going to disagree with me with regards to the swearing issue. I was mearly giving an example of my experience in the PvP zones and the conduct of other players, which at times is totally unacceptable.
And are you going to want to spend the day teaming with someone who doesnt have even a slight bit of respect of other players? People dont seem to relise, and maybe its just me, that the way you act in the PvP zones may have a direct impact on the way people view you in a PvE enviorment.
Maybe i didnt do the best job in my first post (or maybe even this one to), but hey, i've been at work since 9am (apart from one hour off) and I only got home 45mins ago
Thanks for the kind words SiX. It was one sided to the benefit of the villains at that point and as such I saw no reason to interfere with the heroes strugling to get out of the base. I like a challenge, I go for that very reason and for the fun PvP can spur.
I was hoping the villains would get bored with camping the base sooner then they did, so didn't make the switch to heroes for a while. Best thing to do when it's like that is either to try and stick it out or take a breather, I know that can sometimes be a drag if you're in that PvP mood (I sometimes get). Had you stuck around though you'd probably have enjoyed yourself a tad as heroes finally got the upper hand and I switched back just to get pwned.
The whole stalker deal drives me nutz as much as anyone. I do sometimes wish there'd be a bit more support for myself there but ya know, sometimes you do alright and others you just don't stand a chance
The 'bragging' etc. can become a bit over the top and does on several occations. Best to do is either ignore it or counter it with some light hearted banter. I get plenty of tells like "hahaha die" etc. when being defeated by 3 or more in a group. Usually I'll respond with a "Well that didn't go like I'd hoped heh" or "Heh well done" or something to that effect. Sometimes it works and you get a friendly comment back, which is always nice, other times they just keep at it but then I just ignore those tells and concentrate on the battles.
I'm rambling, so I'll leave with a thanks again for the kind words and hopefully you'll be coming to a PvP zone again soon
Oh and Irradiator I think you're being to modest

Erm, its a PvP Zone. If a villain sees you, they are instinctively going to attack you, that is called PvP. Its not ganking, griefing or any other word. Its a PvP zone so anything goes. Get over it and stop whining.
[/ QUOTE ]
The coined term for overwhelming odds which you cannot fight against, and being forced to face them in a way that is exceptionally difficult to escape from, is 'ganking'. Sneering down at someone for raising an actual subject out of the poor behaviour in the PVP zones, only makes you sound obnoxious. Playing that "Get over it and stop whining!" card, does nothing but spark hostility. If its so necessary you use things like that, you could always try substituting it for : "Man, I think im so cool."
[ QUOTE ]
There's nothing particular to the villains side and stalkers, don't kid yourself. Controllers, blasters and scrappers behave in exactly the same way. I've had relentless name-calling, personal tells and badgering playing as a Dominator from heroes simply because they think it's unfair I should even be in the zone, since of course everyone knows Dominators are a rubbish AT and shouldn't have the temerity to show their beastly face in PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
People are often under the misconception that the obnoxious behaviour in the PVP zones is limited (or mostly confined) to a single side. Both sides suffer it, and it becomes something of a passive hatewar unless you have characters on both sides. If I had a laser-shark for every time I heard a "you heroes" or "you villains" line, i'd have a whole lot of fricken laser-sharks.
[ QUOTE ]
Villains are acting like villains imo, pvp has no rules
[/ QUOTE ]
Firstly, -players- are acting like villains. Roleplay is something that is done with mutual consent and within the games rules, not inflicting a vile character upon someone else in a zone that has no attached roleplay elements. Secondly, the PVP zone does have rules, the same standard rules of common courteousy and such that we are all held by in even the PVE sections. People seem to suddenly believe that once they are in a competetive environment that they can start hurling abuse around and treating the opposition (and sometimes their own side) like dirt. Not everyone does it, but it repeatedly occurs at a rate that makes people stop PVPing, or outright puts people off returning after their first visit.
[ QUOTE ]
-So don't imply that people are stupid...
-and again with the insults...
-or on the forums apparently...
-So take a chill pill and stop being so bloody offensive.
[/ QUOTE ]
Listening to the same old regurgitated, patronising remarks like :
"Get over it, stop whinging (go to the arena)"
"Its a PVP zone what did you expect?"
"What did you expect villains to do?"
"You're only annoyed because you lost? "
"If you ditch half of your powers in a respec, its easy to fight -insert enemy AT here-!"
..is bound to make someone frustrated, especially when they have heard them repeatedly. Hearing them that extra time in the actual thread you're adressing a subject you loathe, is going to get someone riled up. Making further patronising remarks in reaction to his responses, will only further the frustration. Poke patient in bruise. If patient yelps in pain, try poking again to make them quiet. Nope, doesnt work. If this isnt a "Dance my puppet, dance!" deal, then a different approach/tone would better serve to disarm hostilities. I expect you'll point out that my tone isnt exactly polite either, but the difference is, I talk like this when people just cant help themselves from sticking a little knife in every single bloody time the gap for another knife shows. My behaviour has reason, even if im prone to overreacting, and if thats all im doing, feel free to ignore me and/or beat me with a handful of dry reeds. Dog gets to a point where he only learns with a good beatin!
And finally, now i've stopped lecturing people like an egotistical jack[mule] (I mean well, please trust me on that much -.-), its time for that little snippet of divinely inspired text that actually addresses the thread at hand. I'll just wait a moment for people to stop gouging my eyes out... there...
Those of us who go to the PVP zones have likely suffered something like this at one point or another. Some handle it a lot better than others, but regardless it still ends up wrecking the fun. When it persists, it ends up emptying the PVP zone as one side exhausts their friends lists of support, and figure that they simply dont have a chance unless they spend an age sitting around on their hands, or are simply insulted of the field back into PVE, or frustrated enough to log off and try to get out of a bad mood. I think that most people would agree that it would be nice if something would be done about these times it gets out of hand, both on the in-game side and on the player-to-player interaction.
Now, this is the real killer :
What exactly can be done?
Moderating the PVP zones at most active times will take resources that most companies dont want to spend (or maybe that they simply cant). Even if they could do that, it would mean that there is a human being making decisions and occasionally pointing a galvel around saying "Guilty!", and human beings make mistakes. Things blow up easily in a charged environment, imagine what would happen if a PVP moderator made a bad call, and punished/warned a person/team that were in fact the victims of something, rather than the aggressor?
An automated feature that 'balances' elements of a PVP zone when one side heavily outnumbers the other is also unlikely to happen, due to the fact that player desires are unimportant when compared to the devs 'vision' of the game. PVP zones have been around long enough for them to notice how bad it can end up at times, and im certain this has been suggested before. Can anyone remember a more definate conclusion, any kind of redname comments? Outside of more brainstorming and hoping that some merciful PVP god above would make our suggestion be heard and implimented... or perhaps holding a kitten to ransom... what exactly can we do?
(thats an actual question, not supposed to be self-answering)
Although the primary purpose of this thread might have been to vent amongst friendly faces, I wouldnt write it off as nothing more than a complete rant. We all go into the PVP zones know that the odds wont always be fair, but sometimes it can be so ludacrous (both in-game and between individual players) that we cant help but wonder if something could be changed for the better.

Umm...
The situation for the Heroes was far from optimal that evening. But there was nothing out of the ordinary going on, on broadcast that is.
Maybe you should have pulled out before, if you don't like the base camping. The Heroes ganked us at the base at the end, and that's how it goes. Back and forth, back and forth. When it gets bad, pull out and return later. That is what most do.
The chat was not that bad, even though some of it may not have been instant classics. But "Extremely Bad Behaviour"? Hello? Come back when it gets nasty, or perhaps not. ;-)
My only advice: Dont take everything so serious!
And for the Hero dancing on MY corpse, that was funny. :-)
P.S.
Golden Girl is the most Heroic in spirit. Perhaps the only person that makes me regret my evil ways. ;-)

Sorry, but that would seriously affect my plans for World Domination. Besides, I like my uniform too much. I do however admit a failure in proper etiquette, as a participant in the little rave party. ;-)

Max. Both me and Oberst got the reputation badge now, so it's time to move on to the final battlefield I guess. That is, when I7 arrives.
Hope to see you there. Well, not up close actually, that hurts. I should not say this, but after SC, Scrappers become much more difficult to fight. ;-)

How anyone could boast, gloat & feel any more worth over someone else over pressing a button, in the rough vincinity of another character, with a power that's the rock/paper/scissor to someone elses rock/paper/scissor defies belief & is the behaviour of fools.
Whats more bewildering is people who advocate relaxed & respectful play & doing entirely the opposite on the test server .

Only read what The_SiXKillA wrote, this is what we call PvP, and I find all the gloating and show boating makes it all well fun. So what if they are dancing on your corpse its just a bit of fun, as long as not one starts [bleeping] at people and remembers that they are playing a game its all good.
If I was there, I would have made use of the new bug where you buffs are recharged on a mission exit and stacked my accolade powers! haha!

That's a question I'll leave to the experts but sadly it does happen.
Golden was a good example of fine sportmanship. Kept coming at us and seemed to try and get the best out of a bad situation and Max I'm sorry if Hans was your pet or Weismann's. I tried to bring him back to life but he was just to far gone, poor Hans he was a good soldier

Like I said. Bad behaviour breeds bad behaviour. If you can't accept this, then you shouldn't be able to accept "villains behaving like villains", because the argument is the same. I'm making a point, and you've not only missed the point, but underlined it. Several times.

Bad behaviour breeds bad behaviour only if you are as immature as the other person - is it really that difficult to ignore them or put them down?
And "Villains being villains" is a valid RP reason (and also the most common justification by tools, sadly). I have more of a problem with YOU calling it "stupid". Looks like I'm not the only one missing points. Several times.
Although it looks like we are both in agreement that you're acting like a tool.

The thing to do in situations like this..
Chill.
**Insert rant about people using the "im only acting like a villain/hero argument"**
**Insert what I think to be something funny, but most likely isnt**
I use pvp to cool down from pve, sometimes the endless crawl through missions and yet more annoying enemies does get dull, and the chaotic death fest of pvp where getting killed does not matter is a delight in comparison.
At times the swarms of enemies outside either of the bases is annoying, but there are ways to avoid them..The most important thing being, a coordinated action.
Talk with the other heroes/villains,plan what you are going to do.
The other morning I was in pvp (where did all the Ice corrupters come from?!!) it was another low heroes numbers Vs lots of villains situation, and through well exicuted use of stalkers and ice corrupters we eventualy got pushed back to the hero base.
Thus started the typical disaster of "heros only use the road to try to escape" plan :P
Backed up by "heroes dont talk to each other".
We were still getting kills in, and giving the Vs a good bloody nose, but with no combined action we were getting islolated, frozen and killed, oh and used as bags of kinetic healing for the villains wounded
Despite all of this, there was little to no griping..Though I did miss the villains use of one liners ,there were deathly silent a lot of the time
DG>
Ok, Obot. I apologize.
But I don't feel it should be nessecary to roll a specific AT with a specific powerset just to avoid being slaughtered by every single stalker in the zone. Without /devices, a blaster will never-ever-ever-ever (everevereverever) stand a chance against a stalker with hide+stealth. I feel this is slightly unfair, as there is nothing we can slot, no powers we can take that makes up for not being able to see stalkers. I would MUCH prefer one-shotting instead of how it is now where there's no chance in hell I can even see the buggers.
