Best PvP Team of 8.
I think this thread could go on forever, because of all the different variations you have with 8 people.
I do also think that a team with a few good Tanks would tear yours to pieces.
World of Jackcraft.
A decent 8 man team would be:
Empath/* Defender
Kinetic/Elec Defender
Spines/Regen Scrapper
MA/Regen Scrapper
Earth/Forcefield Controller
Ice/Sonic Controller
Ice/Nrg Blaster
Invun/Nrg Tanker
This is an I6 team, with the toggle dropping changes I'd probably swap a few powersets around.
This is an issue 6 team, if it were issue seven some changes would definately be made to my team
Yes the point about tanks. well the whole team will be at smashing/energy damage cap with a sonic/kin duo, so i presume you'd have a */em tank? Try scratching them with that much res damage. As for the scrappers they can play tanks with their taunt and damage res. Only difference is they have higher damage and range and well higher damage ftw.
A team with people like Salla, Edene, Nightbringer, Jackhobo, Extremus, Shaman X in it.
50s
controllers: Ill rad , grav rad, fire kin, ice kin
blaster: ice em
scrapper: spines sr
Heres my go
Ice/Ice/Ice Tank
Invul/EM/EM Tank
Empathy/Psi/Power Defender
Kinetics/Ele/Power Defender
Spines/Regen/BM Scrapper
BS/SR/WM Scrapper
Illusion/Rad/Primal Forces Controller
Ice/Energy/Force Blaster
thePhilosopher Martial Arts/Regen/Fire Scrapper
theRegulator Empathy/Energy/Soul Defender
Total Inertia Ice Blast/Kinetics/Psy Corruptor
Total Inferno Ice Blast/Thermal/Leviathan Corruptor
Eight of me, contorlled by a hive mind because individually they'd just start arguing with each other and score -8.
If this was an Issue 7 team, I'd probably switch one of the blaster primaries for Sonic instead. Maybe go Sonic/nrg for both stacked stuns and res debuffs. It will be much handier when you'll go up against +res based defenses(you know you will). You'll be a bit lower on damage, but if you just happen to go up against 2 invul scrappers and 2 invul tanks, on one team, you'll be much happier.

Yeah /em why not. But I'd have them for the Taunting primarily.
World of Jackcraft.
1 stone/em tank
1 ill/sonic controller
1 ice/ff controller
1 kinetics/elec defender
1 rad/rad defender
2 elec/elec blaster - both slotted for endurance drain
1 spines/regen scrapper
Huddle monster of doom

I dont play these kind of battles in the Arenas (yet) so am not au fait with the dynamics but wouldnt a decent Granite tank with the presence pool be a boon? 3 taunts and damn near unkillable.

Apart from Granite being -dmg, -recharge, -spd, yes. Even with a Kin and speedboost, it's got some major downsides.

Except that you can just run away from a Granite tank and there's no way in hell they'll be able to keep up with you. Of course, if you have a kinetics on your team with 3 runs in SB it's a different story.

Illusion/Empathy/Primal Controller (focus on healing and buffing)

Rules are maximum of two of each AT in team. This follows on from the test server fights.

a competant (vindictive) granite could simply chase you around the map taunting you out of the game via TP and TP foe. My concept of the inclusion of a granite not to cause damage in anyway, more of a 'safe zone' and damage sponge.

Any sensible 8 man team has a kin/ or a /kin on it. ID gives teleport resistance. Even with TP, Granite based tankers are just too slow for high-level arena PvP.
Also, seriously stalk, have you ever seen a tanker with 2 taunts from the presence pool and taunt from their secondary?
A Kin or even multiple is not going to keep an eight man team perma ID'd. Also, the person who gets TP'd can still move, they'll be out and round a corner while the Taunt is going off, be around a corner and have it broken already.

Nope not at all but as Im sure most people who know me (like you) know Im all about extreme builds and this was merely an idea I had which may or not pan out the way I had envisioned due to things I havent considered. (Like the bug in fear that gives disorient resist in pvp which kind of killed of my fear based ar/dark corrupter) Also I am not remotely experienced in the arena team PVP circel yet.
My idea was this, granite is virtually unkillable (yes we all know how to pull them down) and would be basically a damage sponge. Yeah they are crap slow and granites -recharge is a proverbial which is why i considered the presence pool, so that at least one taunt would pretty much be ready when the need arises in PVP. I can see 2 methods of play where this could be useful, 1stly stay and fight around the aforementioned rock and secondly run to the rock should any player(s) be in trouble for them to pull the agro off. I find taunt really annoying and this would drive me absolutely nuts
Now this seems quite feasable to me, the granite would need to be a strategic and patient player but I can see it working, just because something isnt the norm doesnt mean it cant throw a spanner in the works
Of course this could all just be crap, I have no tanks to base it on and deleted mine when i got him to lvl 28

So from following on the best pentad teams which i was reading earlier I'd like to hear your opinions on the best team of eight. Yes I know it depends on player but lets assume all were of equal skill, and so builds had to be taken into context
Rules are maximum of two of each AT in team. This follows on from the test server fights.
I guess I'll go first then
Kinetic/*/Power defender
Sonic/Sonic/Mind defender
Mind/Forcefield/Psi Controller
Illusion/Empathy/Primal Controller (focus on healing and buffing)
Ice/energy/Ice Blaster
Ice/devices/Ice Blaster
Spines/regen/body Scrapper (with confront)
Spines/regen/body Scrapper (with confront)
I really think this team would be very hard to take down, having the ice/devices target caller for spiking. Hit them with webgrenade your taking away their movement with snowstorm and well as you know with know movement their done for. Ice/energy delivering the pack full of damage while also slowing the team.
The Spines/regens taunt targets and take them out of the fight while getting kills.
Ill/empathy healing buffing supplying needed heals/buffs
Kinetic buffing giving slow res for the whole team along with repel protection
Sonic providing great damage res, telekensis and caging any threats
Mind/ff doing causing hell for targets with telekensis force bubble and detention field.
