One question, i know what GW is, but what is RF?

RF (Rising Force) Online. Nice graphics, shame about the gameplay by all accounts.

I think that is meant to be pill boxes:

Yeah, the only thing i liked about RF was finishing the account
PvP is the only option, as there are no missions or anything thatn 'click spacebar' + 'Click a megre power' + 'A lot of potions'

Personaly I like it its not for every one. But I can find team based PvP there when ever I want it wich is some thing I cant do in this game. I dont have a prob with CoX as a game its just that the PvP is a bit sparse.
The problem with the zones is that if they are full of people everyone wants to go. If you go in by chance and there is no one there you leave. I think they need to turn the zones into mini events that last an hour. Say at 20:00 everyone who has arena chat on gets a Dev message saying Zone event starting or something like that. Heros then fight villains for an hour teaming or solo it wouldnt matter. Then whoever gets the most kills in the hour period(heros or villains) gets an award. the award could last till the next mini event say an hour or two later. The award would need to be something worth while to get people taking part. you would also need to be in the zone for an hour without leaving and out of the safe zone for say 50mins of your time there. An idea for the award could be an increase in xp(not to much) till the next event starts.
I dont see this as a big advantage to people who like PvP as they would have to spend an hour in the zones in the 1st place getting little to no xp(and they might not even get an award if on the losing side) Just an idea of the top of my head im sure there is a lot better ideas for awards. When theres alot of people there the zones are great fun and i think this is a way to get alot of people there at once making it fun.
Sry if i got a bit of subject
Oh and the Three Lions SG will be useing the new PvP zone as long as there is someone to battle with

Sorry but an increasing amount of people are remeoving Arena chat. I know some are popping uit back on. But I have had it disabled for months. Actually I only had it on for 2 or so moths then it went off. I dont know what its like on Union but on Defiant arena chat I have had more than enough bad experiances. And I seem to only ever hear of continuing chat abuse.
The problem with PvP is that 90% of the players dont have a clue on how PvP works in this game. This is far from any other PvP, I have seen. The speed of this game compares to none other cause you have to constantly be thinking counters and still react.
To be a good PvP you need to know every power in the game by heart, and how it effects you.
You need to know how much you can hit while radiation infection is on you, you need to know what kind of buffs you need to deal with certain situations...there is so much you need to know to rival the best.
The best players have fought pretty much every AT in the game. They know how much damage they can deliever, when they have fortitude and when they dont. They know how much enervation field buffs their damage.
You need to know whether to kill the stormie or the empath guarding his back first. You need to know what buffs your opposing team has access too, so you know how many people should assist with the kill.
PvP between PvP'ers and casual gamers is pretty much a 50-0 victory everytime, and this I think is a major turn off for newbies to PvP.

Yeah but the only way to get good at PvP is do it and its not like you get get debt is it now. And if you ask Im sure people will be happy to help out other players as must of the mian PvPers in this game seem like a cool bunch of guys that dont mind helping people.
It is a learning curve, but it makes the game better as a whole if people understand the other powersets better.
The other day I met a nice blaster who said "I dunno what other powers do, I just blast things till they stop twitching"
Now how much better would that char be in PvE and PvP if he understood what his teammates/enemies powers were and how they worked.

And how much less fun might he have if it's not something he enjoys doing? People shouldn't be required to delve into the numbers and mechanics of the game just to have a functional PvP character, which they do as it stands (certain powersets excluded). Hell, even PvE is going that way with all the power nerfs and changes of recent issues.

You get out what you put in, you learn all the powersets and what the powers do and you are likely to win/survive much more often.
You don't have to learn numbers at all, just understand what the pretty pink thing means when it hits you, or blue is going slowly. You don't have to be a mathematically genius to figure the game mechanics out.
Why should it be a lazy learning curve in PvP? With the amount of combinations of possible powers why should it be point and click like any online FPS shooter?
I know the powersets pretty well, but I'm still not a big fan of PvP. It's just dull really.
I really should do something about this signature.

there are 2 PvP arena nights every week which anyone is welcome to and the regulars often put calls out for PvP battles on other nights. if people don't respond or turn up there is little more that can be done...

It'll still be largely ponitless for tanks, no matter how many bells and whistles they add.
[/ QUOTE ]
It wont be in I7. You get punchwoke in PvP! I think this would bring the tanker AT back to the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, so now the blasters will be forced to toggle-drop me, the controllers & dominators forced to snap through my megre mez protection, the stalkers forced to AS me with unresistable damage (Not that I have any resistance to speak of) and anyone else generally forced to kite me until I'm dead.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup

I actually like pvping with tanks...ones I'm fighting are stone tanks mostly who can't hit for toffee and my stone tank...(heh) who can actually admire that stalker's look on their face, because they 'only have 2 attacks'.

[/ QUOTE ]
well actually you do in the zones which is what I think is a major problem for some people, arena matches are not frequent or dynamic enough (cant come and go) and the zones have npcs which if they take just the last hit point you get full debt. A pve player who wanders into the zones to ahve a look then gets a ton of debt from a few accidents is not going to ahve a good impression of PVP.

Got to say I cant see the PvP in this game getting good. Im in a PvP clan in RF at the mo and even they siad that PvP is pointless in this game and has no place. You cant have big fights as the client will just lag out on you you cant solo certian builds and some builds have no place in PvP what so ever. If you want PvP I would say get anothert game that dose PvP well rather than the half arsed effort that this game offers up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah that's true. Have played RF:O. But it is also that RF:O PvE really does suck compared to CoX. This shows how the other game is designed nearly strictly for PVP and other is designed mostly PVE (and it should stay that way!!) .
I'll pvp where ever the voices tell me to go. And if Stalk's online.

depends on ur tank, mine can 2 hit any squishy in Warburg (but then again it was specifically made and designed for PvP from lvl 1 )
nah, pvp is not that good that i've expected.... boring the 90% of the time, u will see the couple of pumpass cowards, that comes 8 against 1, or the little rat... that shoots to held then run... shoots , runs... hahah u can be waiting to see that rat face to face for about .... hours... pvp maps are only good for badges... xD

why not try the arena then? its not all about the zones...they're just a nice place to start and pick up the basics
The problem with PvP is that you get alot of times when it will be a team of 8 heroes against 2 villains or vice versa, at which point the outcome is a certainty.
Unless you are playing as a 50/40 or dont care about debt you are unlikely to stay in the zone. Every time ive played in the PvP zones ive always gained debt as some sneaky we NPC will take the last vestige of health.
Also the PvP zones are not massivly populated unless something is posted on the boards. If I have a quick tour of Sirens and nobody is there Im not going to wait until somebody arrives im going to go elsewhere or go alting.

This is something I hear a lot but never can understand.
How can people have a blast in the completely 100% predictable PvE part of this game and find the actual only challenging part of it - the PvP - boring?
