CoV: Central Roleplaying area.

CoH players have the Galaxy Girl statue, but what do Villains have?

I realised this, and it only struck me after being there for about three hours.

The Golden Giza Casino in St.Martial!

It's spacious, there are bars, there's security, there's an escort company doing business, it's a casino of course and it's in the heart of one of Arachnos' more lucrative "business" districts. Sure, it's a little difficult for the pre-14 crowd to get to, but wouldn't be a problem with a little outside assistance.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Only problem with your idea, isn't St Martial quite a high level zone?

Posted

It's like...30. I saw some blue mobs there and I was level 27 when I went there.

I'll admit I've not been inside the casino, but if it's anything like the casino mission maps--wouldn't it be a bit dark?

I'd suggest somewhere outdoors, and preferably not such a high-level zone.

I don't mind since I usually play with a character a bit before RPing him but that area is quite high level even if I find it perfect otherwise.

It's surprisingly well lit, and there's more than just a casino area; there's bars, dance floors...etc. It's big, but small enough so you can mingle and mix easily.

We could probably say that about almost any zone that isn't Port Oakes or Mercy Island though; given the design of St.Martial, a travel power would make it incredibly easy to get there. From the ferry, just travel East - over some water - and you're there. Might have to avoid a few Arachnos at the docks, but that's about it.

I prefer the thought of an indoors meeting place over outdoors. I mean, how often do you just loiter in the streets waiting for someone to hang out with and talk to? >_>

Hmm, I'd have to say I prefer outdoors meeting places, as others can run up, roleplay for a moment, and rush off. It makes more sense (to me) than having them all agree to meet in the same place at a certain time each day, especially when half of them don't know one another. Plus, you've got to bear in mind the *ahem* door bugs, that can cause crashes for some people.

There's a large dome in Cap Au Diable, which Noir picked for the few roleplaying meetings she hosted. I'd like to put in a permenant vote for there. It's safe (lots of Arachnos Drones to protect you), easy to get to and large enough to allow for multiple roleplaying groups. In a way, it's the Rogue Isles' Galaxy Girl.

Personally I would vote for the square in the raised fortress part of Mercy Island, the one you get to when you enter behind Mongoose, where you'll find Arbiter Richard and the Quartermaster. It's an open area, accessible to even the lowest-level characters and it has, IMO, the air of a 'meeting place'.

I'd go for the Bonesaw club (a.k.a. the Moneky Fight club) in Sharkshead. Its easier to get to. The place is full of atmosphere, and you are less likely to get lost in it.

If you havent been inside this place go through the door with the painted monkey near the NAtural Store in Sharkshead.

Well, it'd be best if one place was chosen. Running around and checking each and every one of those places for a RP group... *gasps*

I really like the idea about the Golden Giza... although anyone without a travel power (that is, the young characters) won't be able to get there.

In fact, the only place where EVERY character can hang out in safety would indeed be that square in Mercy Island, though it seems a bit boring and plain. If not that, then the spot around the big turning globe in Cap Au Diable get's my second vote.

Although the Mercy Square is a nice setting, it is also a high traffic area.

While this would be nice in an ideal situation, this isn't a perfect world where people 'live and let live'. The number of people that would call out 'nerds' and find fun in being disruptive would be enough to scare a good deal of the starting RPers, and lessen the apeal for a lot of the more 'commited' RPers.

In that case the area around the big globe in Cap Au Diable could also suffer from the same problem. After all, there are 3 quatermaster nearby and an arbiter, as well as quite a few missions begin there.

The monkey fight club and the golden giza wouldn't have these problems: you never have to go there, gameplay wise. Doubt most people even know where the monkey fight club is or hell, that it even exists.

Plus, it has monkey fights?

You guys might want to have a look at this:
The "9pm up Galaxy Guy's trouser leg" Thread

One of the locations mentioned there was the beach right below Fort Darwin. It's certainly very easy to reach, although a bit out-of-the-way for a convenient in-game reason to be there.

Woo! An idea of mine has been taken up!

Motivation for villains to go to an out of the way beach? Plotting, of course! Plotting!

Mind you, I have said I'm probably not going to RP in CoV... And seeing as I haven't played CoV since November...

EDIT: Ok, not exactly "taken up", but considered... It still gives me happy feeling! Or is that the gin...?

Aw, come on. Be evil - you know you want to.

Search your feelings ... you know it to be true! Hmm ... did I quote that right? Seen it in too many different languages to remember the bloody dialogue correctly.

[/ QUOTE ]There are 5 contacts in golden giza, and also mission entrances, so you DO have to go there.

That leaves us... what? The beach in Mercy Island? I could go with that.

the beach in mercy, do you mean the one where you get the chum badge? (i came up with it in the first place btw)

I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.

No, not where you get the Chum badge. There's one down to the right of the exit from Fort Darwin and there's also one behind Fort Darwin.

what about the university in cap, i kno its near the base portal, but its not near any contacts, is protected by drones, and is outside, spacious, and has that weird sphere with the chunk missing?

And perhaps if one of the SG's manage to build a base with a working teleporter to the area, they could make it available to their coalition as a way to reach the area quickly and safely...?

So did we settle on a place that we all go?
