Courtesy and PvP
Hmm, courtesy in PvP huh? Well I think that I'm quite courteous by faceplanting it before anyone else as my skills are absolutely abismal!
Aside from that, if I see a lone player and am feeling confident then I'll most likely attack, then get in a little bit over my head as I'm still completely new to the thing. If they are fighting high level mobs however, I'll tend to leave them be (if they're still weak after the fight though, bad luck my friend...)
One final thing is that I'll never shout abuse or anything to a player, I might send a broadcast asking if anyone is out there, but that's only because sometimes it seems like an area is empty and I generally want to know, not to call people out. If the same player beats on me repeatedly I'll do a nice little "Well done" comment with a nice , but if they keep gunning for me I'll leg it from them as I'm too much of a soty to say "Leave me alone you big bully!"
I'm new to the PvP game. I was AFKing it on a rooftop in bloody bay, came back to my keyboard to find someone beating on me. I thought 'sneaky ...!' at first, but hey - they are villains, they aint supposed to be nice!
Have to say though... absolutely lovin it!
by the way - anyone have any good ideas on how to get the upper hand on the stalkers, all tips welcome!!
GhostBlade - We'll get that 1 on 1 next time.
Well I spend some time in PvP zones tho less than I used to. And have to agree with Hack, no reason for people to be abusive in a PvP zone. Sure we all get upset or annoyed at times by stuff that happens. But thats generally a queue that maybe take a break a little and go do something else, even if its only some PvE.
Personally I always try have a laugh, congratulate people when they face plant me really well. Tell them off for naughty things like sitting in hospitals and so on.
Now remember all the presents are mine, so just leave them where they are and I will be right around to pick them up

Anywho, I wanted to fight 'ardman 1 on 1, to bad a nasty villain interfered

well i agree with colombo if your intending to "1 on 1" then we have a arena gathering cobwebs that you could use. If its a RP 1 on 1 and essential that it has to be in PVP zone broadcast and make sure youve enabled all chat. it wont stop people who hav entered zone after th broadcast killing you, but should still improve your chances of a uninterrupted battle.
Only things i like to think i should be courteous about is if a team mate appears to be engaging in 1 on 1 i will shout say if u need help to him/her. Any other scenario its a free for all. Others on low health running Maybe ill leave them alone...but ill always check there AT...1 heal could get them in the green....and perhaps they aint running away from summit but running to u to kick ur behind.

I didnt think there were hero vs villain battles in the arena anyway.
Besides, I know i prolly couldnt be bothered to walk there, maybe a system like the one in jedi academy where both dueling players get covered in a force field that only the other can penetrate.

Why don't people go to the arena if they want a private battle?

Not sure heroes and villains can meet up in the arena.
Dont really have a rule about PvP usually only go in if its some sort of organised big fight I usually dont go hunting little individuals. On the occasions I have soloed I prob wont attack an AFK and if I seem to be picking on a single character I will get bored quickly and leave.

I have already said this in the arena section but heros and villains can fight each other in arena. Its one of those less known things like being able to chat to the enemy by changing your chat settings in your general options.

They can and its great fun. Problem is people dont like getting beat. They play this game and get used to beating 3/4 and more in a mish on their own. They get used to winning and they like it. Then they go to the arena and get pawned againt 1 person. rather than think what they lear'nt from the fight they say stuff that. Rather than adapt they go back to fighting stupid NPC's. Sry if this sound's a bit harsh but i love the arena. Its the reason i play this game and IMO the PvP would be far better if more people showed an interest. Take a beating and learn from it. Talk to who beat you. ask why i could,nt hit you, ask why i could'nt see you, ask what i can do to see you etc. most people who play alot of arena would love to have more of a challange. They are nice people and would love to offer advice and talk about builds. So give it a chance you never know you might like it
I've not been to the arena yet, but it does sound interesting. You are right as well - i think a good Hero/villain will learn from their pvp encounters, as it can only make you a stronger player.
As for 1 on 1 in a PvP zone, Unless you actually let people know thats what you are doing, i guess you are still fair game for anyone (though i hate to admit it - the amount of times i get suckered by one or two extra villains joining in!! lol) That goes with the territory, so to speak.

... KILL... ALL... ENEMIES!1
Plight
yup kill em all, if i see em, or i know their there i'll go for them, if im in sirens and the bounty is in its base i'll still go for them, no mercy, its PvP. I do feel sympathetic if i'm going after the same person again and again or if theres no challenge in beating them especially in the "gank squad" teams. But if their bounty their gona be hunted
Also,I dont mind getting killed, but on some occasions the cockyness from some players that follows after they've killed me annoys me, esp droning on and on and on about the defeat, and prolly how awesome they think they are, but hey those guys will be top of the list in hunting

Yeah its pretty tedious when people go on about killing you (unless you know them then you can appreciate the banter ) I think there is too much trash talk in pvp generally

Generally, if I was hoping to pull off a 1on1 fight without having someone jump in on us, I dont have much choice but to accept it when eventually someone jumps in. We might not like it, but that is the way of the PVP zone. We're entitled to a bit of a gripe, and I dont mind people griping back at me so long as they dont go too far (helps clear the air, right?). Its just when people suddenly lose the ability to form sentances without composing them entirely out of explitives, it just gets annoying.
I have to admit, I get PO'ed as much as the next person when things go pearshaped, but its a competetive area, what can we expect? Provided the enemy can pick themselves back up again, and get back into the fight without throwing personal grudges around, I think its all fine and groovy. If they make it personal, and somehow think that flooding broadcast/tells with "u r dum dgos but arkilon!1", then the headache tablet industry gets a business boost..
Read the thread, liked the replies. I just have to add, if i see you flying/superspeeding/superjumping/teleporting around a PvP zone and you are orange, i will try my damned best to take you down Onions beware!

Yeah, i gotta say, that really winds me up too. As i said in another post, i only started PvP this week, and so far i've had a lot of fun - i have died loads, and have yet to win a fight, but i've enjoyed the battle. this last day or so i've enjoyed less, in part because of a villain harping on about how great they were to take you down..even though it was THREE AGAINST ONE!
Still, i expect i'll be back there again today......!
well I always try to be courteous when duke is on a villain-bashing spree. I dont like ganking, and will never take part in it (especially since I can hold multiple villains at once, outnumbering them just isnt fun ).
In a fight, dont expect me to hold back and I will chase you straight back into your base if you decide to run there.
Trashtalk however is another thing, I like to taunt enemies while fighting (who doesnt?) but after fights or after Im defeated I also give credit to the enemy for a good kill (unless it was a lame kill, e.g. drawing you into a mob to get you debt).
If both sides after a while decide to give the fightin a rest (it happens) I can always have a good chat with the opposing side and even learn from it. Those little "evalutation" talks really improve your build. Questions like "so that power you use to block my holds, it aint a toggle?".
Basically, fight with everything you got, but try not to be a total a-hole and at least show some dignity.
Oh, and resting outside a safe zone.. thats just asking for a kill.

I know what you mean about cockyness, its the number one thing that either puts me off PvP, or enrages me so much I work harder at it and smash the guys chops in. ahem..
Slightly OT, i remember an old PK game where some guy basically bullied me all the time (he was about twice my size and kept kicking me out the areas I was bashing in). Anywho, he stopped playing for about 6 months, gave me time to get bigger than him
Next time i saw him he was like "erm...you got big. Your probably going to kill me now arent you?" haha.

Depends,
If a non-stalker, NORMALLY talk to them first whilst invis'd and ask if they would like to fight...
If it was a stalker, sneak up on them and beat their guts out, just like they do to the rest of us
