I start to get a tick in my neck and I see he hasn't moved from Atlas, so I decided to ask him if he was coming or not. He replies with, "The mission won't let me in."

I teamed with this guy a few weeks ago (he was level 42 then) and even a regular door mission in Atlas Park was beyond his comprehension.
I wouldn't be surprised if theres more than one person who thinks this :P

You DID report him, right?
In the Arena of Logic, I fight unarmed.
The waves of morons that the AE has jettisoned out it's virtual buttocks is staggering.
I was going to go on this rant about how I cut my CoH chops in the Hollows, learning to team and use my powers correctly, but that would start to sound like a "Get offa mah lawn" moment, so I won't.
I've been doing ticket runs on red side frequently to finish my brute build, and the most clueless AT I have run into are Masterminds. If I get on a team that has more than two, I jet. I just can't do it.
I have tons of stories to tell, but they make me sick thinking of them
The Hollows, eh? I remember when The Hollows didn't exist. Why, in my generation we had Boomtown to cut out teeth in. Doc Vaz anyone?
I remember the good Doc fondly. And his flies. Whatever happened to him?
I joined an AE team this morning. Well, I wasn't looking for a team, but after all my blaster is 46 and I'd like to be 47 so I can slot level 50 IOs, so I accepted the invite.
It's a farm, of course, but not a boss slammer farm... it's just lieutenant freak smashers.
As far as I could tell, the leader was a nicely built level 47 tank who could have solo'd the mission (he said he made it because he likes to solo it -- he had ambushes spawning and wandering patrols, he liked to have lots of enemies trying to kill him). He'd invited me for damage, and he had a kin, and everyone else were lower level random people I think.
Anyway the others complained that it was "too hard" and they didn't like the mission, they were getting slammed and stunned, knocked down, and they were dying left and right, especially when ambushes spawned. They wanted to quit and pick something different, and some even left the mission and waited for the rest to leave, apparently unaware that the leader didn't really care if they stayed or left. He was going to run his mission his way regardless. They eventually came back though.
Apparently a few of them missed their precious no-danger hami farms. God forbid that you should be in any danger while earning your experience! And it made me laugh because these people thought Lt freaks were bad? Your typical boss mission is not going to be easier for you.
Of course, if you hovered above them, you could avoid being stunned. But you think anyone but me could fly? Had anyone been to King's Row to get their temp raptor pack? Heh. KR? Where's that?
I do hope these people learn a bit though, I can only assume most of them are new players. One guy that kept getting knocked down, the tank told him he should pick up a Steadfast Protection set. He had no idea what that was and we had to explain it to him and how it might help.
On an unrelated note, I went to RWZ on Freedom the other day because someone had broadcast that a Rikti Raid was being assembled. I got there and... crickets, for several minutes. Then someone broadcasts asking if team 2 was being formed yet.
So I don't announce myself, because if they're just forming their 2nd team and nobody in the zone is broadcasting for a team, then I suspect this is not a well-assembled run. I was on a run only a day earlier on Freedom that was very poorly led, although with 6+ teams we eventually managed to brute-force a pretty good raid out of it.
Sure enough, while I hunt down the various exploration badges (my tank didn't have them) they barely manage to assemble a second team... then one of the teams broadcasts that they've already taken down 3 pylons, and the other team should start on some pylons too... no third team in sight. Nobody calling anything out over request.
I don't think the people involved were using any server channels to recruit, either... at least the one I was on had no chatter about a raid going on.
I didn't stick around to see how that one was going to work out, but I suspect some AE players were involved. ^_^
On the plus side, if they *were* new AE players, then they were trying something different (and apparently new to them since they didn't seem to have a strong grasp of how to go about it). Hopefully they'll learn, too.

I dunno, man, every time I read people laughing about clueless people who've obviously done nothing but hang out in AE, it makes me think of people who do nothing but end-to-end [x]Fs for the Merits. I'm not saying they're the same thing or that anyone's "wrong", but both strike me as an awfully narrow way of traversing the game, and I personally avoid both.

Hit me up if you're on Victory some time. I'm in a Masterminding mood Currently in the process of getting one to 50, but making a new arc delayed him by about a week.
And no, I'm not a terrible player

Why do people find masterminds hard to play? If you can play a simple RTS...then you can play a mastermind! Even if you CAN'T play an RTS to save your life...understanding game mechanics isn't hard.
The problem is that most MMs don't seem to like to actually control their pets or realize that they have other teammates to consider. I don't use binds or macros for my pets and I never have problems controlling them when necessary.
There is nothing wrong with the MM AT.

I have to agree.
I absolutely love my Msaterminds, I've got 3 at 50, and I'm working on another one(currently 43), and will likely roll a demon/thermal or demon/traps when we get 'em.
Though I do use the number pad binds for micromanaging, But that's just because I hate using the mouse when I can avoid it, camera controls are just inches away from my pet commands, and it makes a good time when I'm dual boxing my masterminds(never on teams)
Although that's not to say that there aren't TONS of horrible mastermind players out there especially the new ones spawning from AE farming, even I'm hesitant about teaming with people I don't already know anymore, and I was a PUG [censored] for years.

Yeah...currently it's SG mates and/or friends from my global only that I team with. PUGs are really not my thing these days.

Another question asked in broadcast in Atlas: can you be sidekicked and still get experience?
I mean, good that you're asking questions... but what a question. What did you think sidekicking was accomplishing, I wonder?

my lil RWZ Challenge vid
If we answer enough questions they will learn. Then perhaps they leave the AE building, try new material, become better players, and won't be AE babies anymore.
That's the goal.
I remember being a non-AE baby. Oh, Dr. Vahz and your flies.... the horrible thing he did. My Non-AE baby story from almost 5 years ago.... I was playing my Mind/Kin controller and had recently got my brand new Insect cape, you know the one, when it had just entered the game. Coincidentally this was about the same time I had my Dr. Vahz arc but I wasn't able to solo the AV (he didn't come in EB version then). Eventually I joined a PUG.
PUG Dude: "Nice cape."
Me: "Thanks, but I wish it didn't have flies." and "Gosh, I just can't seem to do anything without running out of endurance anymore, did Statesman nerf Controllers too?"
Seriously. I didn't know about the forums or patchnotes back then.
So they helped me whack Dr. Vahz and get rid of the flies. Yeah, I was a non-AE baby once upon a time. So young, so innocent, but I did know what side-kicking was and my blaster had a real understanding of perma-debt.

I think the MM AT is wonderful. It's the most unique one in the game. That said, I gave up on teaming with my MM because I haven't mastered how to control the henchmen in a team setting. I wound up soloing my MM to 50 and he's my main character I play when I feel like soloing.
I have a robotics MM, and one of my problems is that the robots do knockback. Invariably, a mob will get knocked back into another spawn and then my henchman follows up with an AoE faster than I could stop him and we'd wind up with multiple spawns attacking us. I try to have high standards for myself when teaming. I don't want to be the one to aggro another spawn. Yet it would happen with more frequency than I cared for, so I'm very cautious about teaming with him.
So yes, I do have a problem controlling them at times. And that's with binds. Not all the time, and not on all maps, but enough so that I find it disconcerting.

I never said there was anything wrong with the MM AT. Please re-read my first post in this thread, I have two high level myself, and one capped.
My post just said in not so many words that AE baby produced MM's are terrible for me to try to play with.
Oh and Sam, never had a doubt you are a great player
MMs have a steep learning curve (compared to any other AT).
Several AE babies do not like to learn.
You do the math.

not the way I play 'em.
the pinnacle of my tactical acumen is using the 'move to' button to trick them into closing range, otherwise I get along fine with 'follow' and 'attack'. =D
Like most stuff in this game, they're only as complicated as you want them to be. Use 'em as a club, works great. Want to play them like an orchestra? Also works great.

My City Was Gone
I don't know if something like this has already been posted, but I wanted to make something like the "Rude Tells" thread, but with a different kinda topic.
" and invited him.
So here it goes.
What are you most ridiculous AE stories?
I guess I'll start with one of mine that I had posted in another AE related thread.
====
Boy oh boy do I have a treat for you all ...
I was in PI on my lvl 50 Fire/Kin taking out some Rikti Monkies for the Zoo Keeper badge when I got a random tell asking me "Have any room on team for a lvl 49 blaster?"
I was in a pretty good mood and the tell was actually in english as opposed to that damn "1337 5p34k" junk, so I said "Sure
So he joins the team and I say that I'm in PI hunting monkies for the badge. I tell him to make his way over to PI and take out some with me. He replies with "Okay."
So I'm sitting on the docks waiting for him to zone.
Five minutes pass.
Ten minutes pass.
I start to get a tick in my neck and I see he hasn't moved from Atlas, so I decided to ask him if he was coming or not. He replies with, "The mission won't let me in."
O.o
Thinking it was an error in reading, I tell him that I'm in Peregrine Island, not Atlas Park.
Once again he aknowledges and says he's on his way.
Another 10 minutes passes and he still hasn't budged from Atlas. I assume he's AFK or helping a friend or whatever so I ask him again, "Hey, are you coming?"
He then proceeds to go off at me saying that he can't enter the mission and that he'd been trying the entire time. I explain once again that I was in Peregrine Island, not Atlas Park. More of his clueless banter and me trying to explain to him. He doesn't listen so I just tell him good luck and quit team.
I thought it was over.
Wrong.
He abused me via tell for the next 20 minutes calling me a noob and many other racial and insulting names.
If thats not a perfect example of someone who isn't willing to learn, then strap a crayon to my head, dress me in drag and call me Rayne's thrustpuppet.
