A Cosmic Class Villain Threat & Raid System
How is this different from Hami Raid ? apart from the specific 'raid' channel (well Hami uses Request)

I think the OP is asking for more raids and yes a raid grouping/chat system.
And on that point:
/signed.
I think up to 6 groups (48 players) should be able to join in a raid. All group buffs would work on anyone in the raid. A raid channel would work similar to group, except that it would have an option that only the team leaders could speak in raid chat.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
When my inner 12-year-old saw this headline, it squealed, "FASERIP"!

As Cat said, we already have raids. Two end game raids to be exact. Asking for more isn't asking to turn the game into WoW, as I believe we had our first raid before WoW existed.

Rularuu the Ravager in his 200 foot tallness in a Co-Op area of the Shadow Shard.

In heaven and earth I alone am to be revered."

I am always on board for more "OMGWTF!?!?" Villains to be added. The world is not nearly in enough peril to satisfy me.
Of course, I would absolutley prefer to be the cosmic-powered Big Bad...But that's a whole differant story.
The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)
Virtue Forever.

Definitely sounds fun to me. I could definitely get behind more raid-style events. I've always been fond of giant masses of heroes beating on some huge critter.

Raids in COH will never turn it into Wow and do you know why? They are completely optional. The rewards are also tradeable (not including rikti merits) but I mean you can buy and sell your hami-o's. Raiding or not raiding has no effect on game balance since we don't have "gear" etc.
I'm all for additional raid systems myself.
Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.
I'll agree to anything that has a chance of letting me fight Rularuu, or beings of similar enormity, both in terms of threat and physical stature.
I want to fight something like Sin from FFX, where the battle involves disabling individual body parts and then climbing down its throat to sucker-punch it straight in the forcefully-incarnated soul. I want to fight things that take the same energies that were at play in the earliest incriments of the Big Bang, and use them as a melee attack. I want to fight things that, just by looking at them, make me think "Hey, maybe paying out for all these purple sets wasn't ridiculous overkill!"
My computer does not want to fight these things. So, uh, signed, but give me a couple months to scrape up cash for some upgrades...

Shadow Shard, something else, or both?

I think it would be great if they introduced a zone where a raiding system is implemented where multiple teams can join as a raid faction and take on a Cosmic Class Villain.
By cosmic I mean along the lines of Galactus. One really big bad guy. A grand comic book style threat.
The first EverQuest has a raid system that would work perfect. A Raid lead would invite people to the raid, select Team Captains, and assign raid members to teams.
Teams would get regular exp, and the entire group of raiders would get a very small exp bonus for being a part of the overall raid.
Whenever a raid was formed, a special channel was added to the chat window so that everyone could talk. It works great.
