Is there a way to control spam in game E-mail?
Click delete a bunch of times. Click "spam" for the ones who show a name other than 'empty'. Done.

Oh and I would simply hit the spam e-mail button, but it doesn't do any good and it one time made it to where I would get mapserved and not allowed back in game. Though the tech support ficed that part.
Are you using the spam or delete buttons when getting rid of the emails?
Unfortunately there's no way to completely stop them from reaching you. The best you can do is use either the spam button in the email tab to get rid of them, or just ignore the email window all together.
It takes only a moment: read how many mails you have. open email tab. Click that number of times on delete.
It takes nothing more than that. It's not going to change. The reason I say click "spam" on the ones with names still attached is because that account hasn't been closed by NC yet. If they know it's spamming, they WILL.
Gold farming is here. Period. So... maybe with I16 or GR we might see some change with the system but I seriously doubt it, and the problem is *not that bad*.
have you ever gotten a non-spam email? Are you WAITING for someone to send you an email? If not, delete. That's all there is to it. It's half a moment you CAN spare.

To keep from getting on the RMTmail mailing lists, /hide from the search function and stay out of the starting zones. Once they've tagged you, though, there's not much you can do.
The next time there's a thread in the Suggestions Forum for a reciever-side Email filter that will set you to "only recieve from friends/G-Friends/SG-mates/etc." put in your support.
Oh, and never buy anything from them. No need to assist them in thier upkeep costs, which essentially will be paying them to spam you (and your fellow gamers) more. Thier products (if they even deliver them) aren't needed. Any character can easily be self-sufficient in this game without resorting to sugar-daddying, marketeering, buying RMT or any such nonsense.

If I recall correctly, the "empty" named emails were cases where the spammer deleted the character after sending out the spam. Previously, there wasn't a connection between the email and the global account, and the spammers were able to hide their activities this way. This was fixed and if you hit spam now it will flag the global account name.
One way to sorta test this is to check a character you haven't logged onto for some months. I logged onto a character recently and it had spam dating back for several months, and there were still names attached to some of the old emails, even though it's most likely that these accounts had long since been banned.

Oh yeah, to the OP, you might want to edit out the name of the spammer, so as not to give them some free advertising.

couldnt help but to disagree with everything you said. i have hundreds of spam so it would take hours to read them all and delete them. the problem is a growing avalanche with the only end in sight is filters or the big off button for the email system. but everytime someone mentions a way to end the spam this way some cappa incarnate or forum cartel comes and flames the whole idea which seems a perfect fix for the monster problem that is spam/email.

...the spam button didn't do that... There's nothing the spam button does that would cause that to happen.

Well, that's because the ideas thus far are usually along the lines of "Delete the in-game mail system all together" or "Ban everyone from China". There is one effective solution that hasn't been flamed because it's not idiotic: Add a "friends/SG only" filter option.
Adding an option to disable the in-game mail client-side is fine, too. I haven't flamed that. I HAVE flamed people calling the devs lazy or stupid for not adding the option. I'm not against the option, but if you don't use the email anyway, it's not necessary.

Bolded section is false.
Bad ideas are disagreed with, and the posters are usually not directly insulted unless they start getting hostile at the disagreement aimed at thier idea.
Not aimed at them, mind you, but at thier idea.
Then thier hostility often starts a round of arguments and insults back and forth.
Oh, now, don't go ruining a good "the forum regs are all bullies" rant with facts now, BBQ.

Fine.
Then I'll skip the part where post counts are never brought into an argument except when folks with lower counts attack those with higher counts. Usually as a distractionary tactic when they run out of facts and/or thier temper fails them.
Wait, is "Distractionary" a word? Eh, close enough.
What we're missing is a comparison where "Idea-X must be good for this game because it was good in another game that had completely different mechanics!". Then we can point out that it would be good/bad on it's own, using this game's mechanics as the setting.

I would love a filter that would auto-delete any email that had the GF website name (or anything I tell it to block) in it. Who cares if they send me an email after that. I wont see it.

I also wonder: why are you reading them, person who found fault with my daily-used system of *delete and spam*?
Why in the world would you NEED to read any of them? Just take your cursor, grab the scroll bar, and see whether there's any names - and then very briefly look to see if it says anything about "GREAT ACCOUNT" or whatnot - duh!
Just delete them all. Click click click. Done.
Hundreds, eh?

Type /hide and when the window pops up click on the bottom radio button. Hide from Search I think it is? Every character that I've done this on so far <got about 170 total> has not received a spam since.
But now no one can find me when I'm lookin for team, you say? Simple, turn it off by typing /hide again and unclicking it. Remember to re-click it before you log out.
...just sayin

This is a test to see if it works. I got a tip from a global friend saying that if you send yourself an email form your own toon it might stop the spam. Currently testing this to see if it works. Send one to myself the other day.
Anyone else heard of this?
"every defender needs to fight. I don't care if you have to use BRAWL!"
Sounds like an urban myth to me.
Why would it stop other people from sending anything? The email box does not distinguish between spam and normal mail until you tell it it's spam.

I e-mailed tech support and they told me that they are planning to make future updates that will help deal with the problem.
Once, twice a week is fine, I can deal with it, but I am getting like 4-5 or more a day! That is just too much.
If you diligently use the Spam and Delete buttons as intended (do not use Spam for emails with no name as that can cause difficulties when the system tries to ignore someone who no longer exists) the pile of Spam emails will get smaller and smaller.
The longer you let these spammers go with their alts (not using the Spam button and simply Deleting them all instead) the more they will continue to bombard you with their spam.
I let characters go for weeks at a time without logging on and I never seem to have more than 4 or 5 spams at a time any more.
It is ridiculous. I usually get 25-30 a day. Earlier this week I ran a LGSF and recieved 8 spam emails just in the 40 minutes it took to run the SF.
It's not that it is extremely difficult to open your email tab and hit delete 25-100 times when you log on, it's just annoying and I wish there could fix it somehow. I don't even use my email, but I can't stand seeing that little red email starign at me. I don't have any ideas on how to fix it, I just wish they would. My spam list filled up along time ago. Now if I try to mark it as spam it says my ignore list is full.

This is quite a lot, but I sometimes have record days like this, too. It's not hard to do when you swap characters and each one has between five and ten spam mails.

I am getting WAY WAY WAY too much spam from [censored] and other websites trying to sell me influence and it's really getting out of hand. The other day, I let my toon stay offline for 2 days and came back to find like 24 e-mails from these people. I am really tired of having to delete these e-mails and put up with this harassment.
Is there a way to disable my e-mail nobody else e-mails me or to put a stop to these harassing e-mails?
