And then every 45 minutes or so *randomly more meteors fall from the sky... and destroy stuff... Until the whole zone is consumed in FIRE.

(yes I am serious)

Let's see.

There are missions there.
There is a PVP zone entrance there.
You have to go there to talk to the hero corps rep.
There's a trainer there.
There's wentworth's there.
There's a zone event there.
All things that people in the zone would be doing, and would likely prefer to *continue* doing without taking damage or getting killed by something they can't do anything against.

How about "No."

Hows about yes. that zone SUCKS. Its BORING. Its GRAY. It SUCKS THE FUN OUT of the game.

SO YES, Lets SPICE it up.

I didn't say make it so you can't do any of the stuff you listed...

I said let the heavens RAIN BIG ROCKS down on it.

"Until it's on fire!" In a way that would make it difficult to use. Or your own quote:

Guess what, all of Redside is "Boring and grey." Should we just eliminate that entire side in a way that is unpleasant for those trying to play it, and those that may actually LIKE it?

If you can't handle the zone, don't go to the zone. Simple. Some people like it. Some people hate Dark Astoria. I like it. Some people hate the Shard, while others like it.

Imagine that. People who like different things, in the same game! Obviously a sign of the end times!

I concur. Let the Rogue Isles be consumed by flaming meteors! Here here!

Wait... people actually play and some even enjoy redside? Wow... That's just... Whoa.... News to me...

The pyromaniac in me loves this idea.

Lets expand it to every zone, especially Atlas.

I rather enjoy redside. There're some starkly beautiful places in the Rogue Isles, if you know where to look.

[/ QUOTE ]I greatly prefer it over The Hollows.
The change I would have made would be to put the lower-level spawns in the zone actually be placed by the GC-KR gate, and the higher-level spawns near the other gate. Having the highest level spawns in the zone being right at the gate to GC just throws off the flow a bit for me.
It's a good zone for lowbie street-sweeping, radio missions and regular contacts, although being sent from there to AP->Hollows and back for the "Talk to Wincott" is annoying.
For lowbies wanting to make a little scratch vendoring trash, the WW there is closer to a NPC store than the one in AP.

For things to add to KR, I'd prefer the "Jack the Ripper" or "Ultra-lowbie Icon" ideas I've heard before, rather than your Flaming Meteors idea.

Can we get a meteor to hit the AE building in Atlas?

Yeah its boring because nobody goes there and you out level the content so damn fast you can't do anything there. I really do miss doing stuff in kingsrow

... Really? Who were those people I was teaming with and doing missions with there then?

I really like Kings Row. I like it just as it is. Compared to Villainside it's downright cheery and bright-colored.

Plus I like Blue Steel. Most of my characters go to him for their training, and for their last session of training (to 50) they always go to Blue Steel.

So I guess that what I'm saying is: "no."

Kings Row is my favorite zone in the game. It just feels more real than the rest to me.

The fact that City of Heroes has bright zones, dark zones, clean zones, dirty zones, orderly zones, run-down zones and so on and so forth is part of its charm and an expression of its quality. Kings Row, along with Independence Port and Brickstown, give the game its quota of dark, seedy, crime-ridden alleyways where a Batman might fight petty criminals to haunt, while Atlas Park, Steel Canyon and Talos Island provide the bright, shining metropolis that a high-profile Super Man might watch over. It takes all kinds.

P_P? You do realize that some players (Turgency, for example) -really- like KR?

You do realize that there are SGs in the game like the King's Row Avengers, the Paragon Protectorate (of Pinnacle), and the KRPD Special powers Division who all use KR as their base of operations because they love the zone so much?

Just checking... To the Suggestion: An emphatic no.

Oh noes! That would be horrid!

*tinkers with emergency teleport hospital network so people get teleported to Ba'zul's den*

Ok, now it won't be so horrid.

Indeed. Lots of people go there, if for no other reason than to run the radio missions.

I'm all for evolving zones to reflect storylines, sure.

But saying that the zone "SUCKS"? No. It feels perfect to me in execution: It captures the industrial-quarter city feel superbly, and gives a much-needed texture to the game.

If you want to spice something up with real evolution, then next step should be Dark Astoria. Let the heroes finally start to recapture that zone, only to have the Dark rebel and double its shadow. That zone's laid quiet for half a decade; with all the heroes around, isn't it about time MAGI made a concerted effort to liberate all those trapped souls?

The meteor shower is a great idea, but you are thinking too small and too full of hatred for a given zone.

Meteors are already in the game with Shivans, which means there is a precedent that can be followed and lead to the culmination of the prophecy given in their storyline.

I'm going to have to say that if the devs do follow up on Shivans we will see something like a zone wide meteor shower akin to Rikti Invasions and Zombies, likely issue 17 or 18.

I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.

I like KR. It's the only "gritty" zone around (though Bricks isn't bad) that appeals to street-level characters. Batman/Daredevil/Moon Knight type characters thrive there.

Sorry, another "no way" here for your suggestion, PP.

I'm all for the zones evolving but there are other zones that need evolution far more than Kings Row. Kings Row is perfect for its intended purpose. If you don't like it, you can always go to the Hollows or bypass that whole level range in AE. Leave Kings Row alone.

Of the zones that need evolution, Boomtown is top of the list. There has been a mission about the Boomtown reconstruction on villainside since the introduction of CoV and yet there is no construction going on.

Steel Canyon and Port Oakes need to finally finish constructing whatever they are working on. Port Oakes should finally open that tunnel to Cap Au Diable too. Terra Volta could use some reorganization after all of the Trials that have saved it again and again. Dark Astoria could use a bit of a makeover too as the heroes have taken back the streets over the years.

There's a lot to work with without destroying one of the key zones in the early development of new characters and introduction of new players to the game just to give you a fiery thrill ride.
