Really getting sick of Connection to Mapserv loss
Are you sure its CoX and not just you?
My connection is solid with just a few yellow spikes, but nothign sustained and no mapserv.

I'm certain I've checked my router and cable modem.
I have MTU set at 1500
The firewall is not blocking I have it set to allow network traffic for this game to their server.
And it's not at all possible that there are any problems between your cable modem and the game servers.
/rolleyes
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.
Definitely on your side, if it is 12 times in 4 hours.
Keep trying new things to fix it.
The last thing that really helped me was putting on a cable booster. (made specifically for the internet, not just cable. But I have my cable split to 4 tv's so that was degrading my signal)
I envy the people that never have connection problems, they don't know how lucky they are.
When we were having trouble at my house with CoH, it turned out to be three different things locally. There was a problem with the house cable connection, the router was slowly going on the fritz, and I needed a wireless booster. Took months to sort out all the causes.
Now, I mostly have just general internet flakeage, and some glitches when evil 'Tivo Lite' is recording shows.
Good luck!
Rend this space....
I've been having the same issue out of nowhere today. Not nearly as bad as the OP but it's happened 3 or 4 times, along with some pretty awful rubberbanding and power activation delay. I was starting to wonder if it was an issue with the Rikti invasions, except I was having the issues even on mission maps.

We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
A friend of mine is reporting it happening to him whenever he is in a city zone. If he can get to a mission he is fine.
EDIT: Just doing some random SJing around Cap Au Diable I am seeing spikes of 10k input. That is way too much. MY connection can handle it but slower connections will get chocked and LCtM. This is what the Velentines bug was doing but worse.
One I don't use wireless I completely hate the idea of a wireless connection. Not in my house.
Two I have a cable modem from Time Warner and one 4 port lan router which I configured as per the tcp/udp ports that should be open
Three I only have one desktop and one laptop connected
Four I don't have cable tv (I have basic but don't watch TV it rots your brain read a book you bastards)
Five every other game, program, service I use has no problems with my firewall, hub, or settings it's only CoH/V that's having this issue.
I have checked my connection run tests the only thing I can see is it's not on my end.
It's random when this happens
Like now I'm having the issue 6 times in the last hour.
Somedays I can play for hours on end with no problem
Other times it starts this crap.
If it was on my end it wouldn't be so random
Most likely it is due to problems that exist between your cable modem and the CoH servers. If it were on the CoH servers it would be affecting many more players.

I'm sure you ment would.
Between this post and the others in the "Lag" thread I'm tired of reading it must be in between your modem and CoH servers. No really? You think?
It amazes me that EVERY other MMO out there has "something between my cable modem and their servers" YET, NCSoft's City of Heroes is the ONLY game acting this way.
Maybe then NCSoft should look at what is between THEIR servers and OUR cable modems in the AREA where this is happeneing more frequently and see if there is a common denominator and fix it. Why should the customer be doing this? We pay for a product and it's support.
And for what it's worth, I noticed this begin happeneing when the Ritki crap started. Not certain if that matters.

Yes, you caught my typo. I originally had something else there that the word "wouldn't" went with, but then changed most of it and missed making that change. Also, the word you are looking for is meant.
I'll repeat again what I've been saying in other threads. I have one of the lousiest internet connections possible, barring dialup or satellite. It's a Wireless ISP. Not wireless from my computer to the router or modem, I mean I have an antenna outside my house pointing to another antenna on the water tower that is around 2.5 miles line of sight from me. A tree growing in the backyard has branches that have spread out so that they are between my antenna and the water tower, and when ANY amount of breeze blows, those branches move and interrupt my internet connection.
That being said, I had 2 problems from Friday on, and one of those was loss of internet for over 2 hours. One was a minor disconnect during a Rikti Invasion in AP.
If it were a problem with the servers I'd definitely be affected more.
As far as NCSoft looking at what is between their servers and your cable modems? They do, but only if people report it with enough information for them to find a common pattern.
They've worked with ISP's to get things corrected on the ISP's end, they've worked in conjunction with the ISP's and on their own to get problems corrected on other pieces of network equipment along one of the many routes to their servers.
But, they have to have reports filed that contain useful and solid information and not the rants and whines that are so often all that posts on the forums contain. If you file a polite useful report with specific information that they can use to help troubleshoot the issues and continue to work with them through the problem, they can get something accomplished. If they want to blame it on your system, give them proof in the form of tracert information showing where the problems are coming up or other diagnostic information that shows it isn't on your end. If they try to blow you off ask politely that it be escalated to a Senior Customer Service Rep or Senior GM.

Texas, I appreciate your attempt at assisting us with this.
well, 9 times out of 10 it is something with your end and not the games. it is not the responsiblility of NC to check your end. it is your responsibility to make sure everything on your end is working.
re: valina182,
when was the last time you reset your modem and router or did a clean up on your comp? i run time warner also and have very limited problems and usually doing these things will solve the problem.

2) I may be a fargin' corksoaking icehole sumanumbatch, but I am no bastidge, I was legitimate.
And what Sharker_Quint said. So with that in mind, here's what to do: Go get thee PingPlotter Freeware. Find a post somewhere in here with the IP addresses... you can search for PingPlotter (or Ping Plotter) and it'll show up. Ping plot those addresses with unlimited 1 second repeats with 10 samples, and you will probably find a spiked server in the list. That server is likely your issue. If you can post a screenie of the PingPlotter result that'd be keen. Even if it's to say 'SEE? Not my path, you bastidges"
/Love to read, btw.

basically its a case of doing a lot of tracerts from multiple users to the servers and attempting to identify which link is causing the problem, whether its dropped packets, connection timeouts or some other problem and then using that as evidence to try to get the ISPs and backbone providers to accept that there is a problem with their network infrastructure an do something about it.
It may be worthwhile assuming you are accessing the US servers seeing if you get the same problems on both the East and West Coast servers. If you're on the EU servers then the problem link is somewhere in France that is affecting the connection from the UK to the servers in Germany.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
On the back of your cable modem is a pin-sized hole that is the modem reset button. use a paperclip to push that in for about a count of 5, then release.
The modem will do a true reset, and basically renew your IP also. This will sometimes fix the matter.
It takes about 10 minutes or so for the modem to completely come back up.
I have Cable/Internet (roadrunner)/ Phone in my house thru Brighthouse (which is basically Time Warner).
This tends to be the same, every single Issue. Server stability gets shot down in flames, until it eventually stabilises again.
This is EU side, mind. But its regular as nemesis automatons =P
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I am getting seriously sick of losing my connection..
It's happened about 12 times in the last 4 hours.
I'm about to say screw this game and cancel my account
Anyone else sick of this?
