I'm hoping that the Assassin's Strike power for Broadsword will be some kind of two handed swing.

I just read "Stalkers" and "broadswords" in the same sentence, then had to do a double take. I mean, seriously. A Stalker carrying around a HUGE ol' honkin' blade? 
But still, it is awesome.
Also, I imagine that the new animations for MA are a street fighter type dealio. Punches, hopefully.

Really, only a few of the Broadswords could be considered "HUGE." The Legacy Broadsword, Rularuu's Bane, the Tech one, maybe Romulus's swords. Other than that, they're pretty reasonably-sized.

Traditionally, "broadsword" refers to average-size single-handed blades. It's only in this game that the word has the connotations of a greatsword or some other large weapon, because the legacy Broadsword is so large. It's the exception, not the rule.

I feel cheated, really. Everyone else gets new sets (two in some cases) and yet Stalkers get a reskin of a set they already have. They haven't really had any 'new' sets either (the other melees got Shields tho)...
But you know what? Go ahead. Do it. Then after that, there won't be any other sets left to port but the good ones. Ice melee/armor, Fire melee/armor, Axe and Mace. The next time they throw a dart, they can't miss.
Heck, even Stone melee/armor, while thematically inappropriate, would still be amazing with its controls.
PS: Headsplitter ain't all that. It's a narrow cone with only a 50% chance to crit from hide....

As Venture pointed out, the Knives of Artemis use the Broadsword attacks with their own custom swords, so, there already is Broadsword Stalkers in the game.

Ninja Blade is just Katana renamed, and Katana is just Broadsword with shorter recharges and lower end costs and damage.

I wasn't aware Cold Domination had a repulsion bubble and Force Field had a +HP buff and stealth aura.
They aren't the same but Katana/Broadsword is barring animation. If you're a numbers freak, the recharge, damage and endurance costs are lower on Katana while Broadsword's is shifted up.
Just to be thorough, they both have: ST weak attack, ST weak fast attack, taunt, build up, +def buff attack, moderate damage cone, PbAoE attack +DoT, knock-up attack, knock-down narrow cone (and an Assassin's Strike for Stalkers)
I'm sure people who wanted to play a sword wielding Stalker that's not a ninja or an acrobat will be happy.

as for the OP. My first thought when I heard Broadsword for Stalkers was Conan the Librarian cutting the guy with overdue library books in half. Well. That was my Second thought. My First thought was why weren't they giving this to Brutes.
One-handed swords like broadswords, longswords, etc., are typically much more elegant than maces or axes. Thematically Broadsword fits Stalkers much better than Brutes.
