LMAO just admit it, you were wrong. Silly Rikti trying to steer the conversation away from his error!

The tournament was set up as a server vs server event with finals on Test. Did any of the people playing care? Maybe not, but we were still proud of them.

Oh I just realized what you were talking about. I was thinking about the other super mixed pentad tourney. The one Johnny ran that had no live component.

wow. I'm pretty new to the game, still on my first character, but I am still amazed at triumph. it's such a close knit community that's willing to help any new players learn the ropes, and honestly try to stick together with you after the night is over. I can't really describe it well, this being my only server for the most part, but I have a story that I think sums my feelings up:

it was winter, 2008, and my tanker, Sundiver, was starting to get frustrated with the leveling grind that I thought was so terrible of the 10-20 stretch. my build was feeling a bit innefective, there were too many "clear all gang" missions, and on top of that, I couldn't find the way into the ski resort for the event! I was wandering steel canyon listlessly, absentmindedly weeding my contact's list when out of the blue...
Tell/[phlogistone]: Hi, want a team?
-->tell/[phlogistone](me): what? sorry, I'm only level 15, I replied quickly, seeing that she was 50.
but that didn't matter to her, she invited me anyway, sidekicked me, and asked if I needed help on that year's holiday mission. heedless of how ignorant I was, Phlo pushed me along steadily with tips and strategy into mobs of purples, but she was always there to get me out when thing's got out of hand. when, at last, the evening came to a close, Phlog saluted me and gave me some parting advice: "trust in the other players. no matter how over your head a mission or game system is, there will be someone who will help you out, but only if you ask them. you get more respect as a noob who asks stupid questions and learns than a noob who remains in quiet ignorance."

I've only been playing for 5 months, so I really have no notion of the big, defining moments of the server, or even mediocre events. I'm just another faceless player who tries to stop evildoers, earn some more power, and enjoy the camaraderie that this server is steeped in.

Sundiver
level 36 tanker

p.s. if you read this, phlogistone, thanks again. it really meant a lot to me.

To DoctorParadox: Thank you for this post. Really thank you. You have remind alot of us what it was like to be "noob" here and how some one took under their wing and helps out. Alot us have been trying to do the same. But this post made me smile because you get it about Triumph: we are a community. Welcome!

BTW, we are also the pant less server too so.....

One of my top moments was back in the olden days, and someone told me that you could 6-slot Hasten with Rech SOs to make it permanent.

That was also the day I found out what SOs were.

Some favorite Triumph moments of mine:

The creation of Triumph Watch 2.1 by HellspawnedHottie (best channel ever)

Anyone remember Monster Mondays? Invasion of monster island.

GE and Kay doing MS raids over and over for a few weeks straight

Attending some the parties hosted by the Dolls and/or Roxy in Pocket D and in bases

When Old School still pvped on Triumph

When Global Heroics were so popular they were running out of countries for people to choose from.

Finally seeing Fanci and Icy Bubbles under atlas at the same time so I could attempt to pursue them to do a big Nukem vs. Dolls PvP match. They declined.

Watching Freedumb and Virtue get greyed out every double xp weekend knowing people can't even access their toons while I can easily log into Triumph and get the double xp on all my toons.

Farming winter lords in Atlas when the winter event used to be cool.

Hami raids with Ultrabatz and company

Collaborating various events between Team Apex and Nerdcore

PvP events with Paragon Elite

Creation of the Justice League of Penguins SG

I love Triumph, been here sicne Issue 2, I could keep going.

My moments:

- Achieving the Leader badge by farming Rikti portals

- Finding out that the Rikti portals were nerfed after I got the Leader badge

- The sigh of relief from completing a Master of Statesman's TF run

- Helping to lead a run of (pre-I9) Hami Raids for about 20 days straight w/ Crockpot, Sun Splitter, Noah Bailey, and a few other Hami Raid leaders during that time period

- forming an SG (The Steel Paladins)

- Finally hitting lvl 38 on my MA/SR scrap and experiencing perma-Elude for about a day or 2 until the nerfs came in I4 (or was it I3? Can't remember anymore...)

- Taking part in finally taking down Hami post I9 for the first time on our server (and letting Hami know we will not go quietly into the night!!!)

- Taking down the AVs in RV when the zone was new and there were mobs and mobs of heroes there

- Hearing "MoOoOoOoOoo, dammit" in the Hive

On the flipside, one of my worst moments was:
Letting Cyberw0lfman into my SG, only to have to kick him out eventually because of his antics (and we all know what that got me )

Mission Architect arc: The Hive Connection, Arc ID: 96660

We tried to pick a snowball fight with them on the ski slopes last December. We were gonna ambush them arter they took their SG pic. They logged the second it was over. Chickens!

With that being said, Nukem has a great bunch of people in it and I love being coalitioned with them.

Some of my best Triumph moments are....

The Easter egg hunt in Galaxy City.

The first VG fair in Cap.

My first Hami raid (only a few months ago)

The first night trying a STF after it came out. We had a tauntless tank and couldn't get past the towers. Everyone was on vent and exhausted. But we all had the giggles. We didn't finish the thing, but wow it was good times.

The night Fanci said she never heard of a Wii. They had me laughing so hard that night I almost pee'ed myself.

The Dolls present deal or no deal. That was insane.

I have had so many good times here I can't list them all. I continue to have good times. *hugs Triumph*

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

Let's see, where do I start...

The first group of regular teammates I ran through the Hollows with. They were some of the first people in my friends list and invited me to my first SG. Unfortunately, most of them disappeared a couple of weeks later when WoW launched and never returned.

Stepping out of the Hollows into Atlas on the last night of the first Halloween event and watching as a herd of three Eochai strolled by the gate.

Being shown how to find the Natural store in Skyway (before stores were marked on the map) and introduced to DOs by an Illusion/FF Controller named (I think) Illisha who just tossed me a bunch of influence and told me to go nuts.

Forming my own SG November 29, 2004. So many great moments that followed never would have happened without the SG.

Running with a bunch of co-workers that I talked into giving the game a try. We could put together full teams for TFs on a moment's notice without having to broadcast to fill spots.

The first time my Tank went toe to toe with the Kraken in Perez and fought him to a 15 minute stalemate (before the modern monster code).

Completing the Positron TF with my Blaster. This was before we were able to lower the difficulty by adjusting notoriety. The other seven members of the team insisted that it was simply impossible for us to finish about half way through the first mission and logged out. I earned my badge solo about 10 hours later.

Unwittingly stepping out of the warehouse on the Synapse Task Force at the exact same moment as a second Synapse team to find that two Babbages were waiting for us. Our two teams were a little confused at first, but quickly sorted it out and joined forces to take out the two monsters.

The sense of overwhelming space the first time I stepped inside Eden Spire.

Tanking Infernal's Portal

Celebrating my first 50, running around Galaxy City handing out chunks of influence to lowbie characters.

My first Hami raid with my Tank was awesome, of course. But that was nothing compared to turning a Hami raid from a complete wipe to a victory with my Dark Defender and one well-placed Howling Twilight.

Master of Statesman's Task Force. July 9, 2008.

I could keep going, but I'm already over 10.

Some of my best moments/great memories here on Triumph (*cough not 10, but 20*):

-Leveling Kay to 50. Those are some of my fondest memories just teaming with a bunch of people and learning the game.
-Attending the SG Fair about 2 years ago, the multiple Babbage spawnings were awesome. Also any event planned by another SG on Triumph has been awesome from what I've seen.
-Pocket D Winter Event on the ski slopes, which I will never get tired of. The Ski Chalet is a very cool map.
-Learning the ropes of MS Raids and leading about a bazillion of them, Kay still has 7600 vg merits.
-Nothing like getting on Kai Kuang and having everybody shouting her battle cry at first sight, Kuang KICK!

-Running MSTFs for an entire month only to set a time and date with friends and accomplish it on the first try.
-The creation of channel I Love Kay (ILK) to later be renamed by me and turned into The Mixing Bowl (TMB) which is made up of close friends to hang out, have fun, and play a game we all love.
-The creation of super group Cinnamon Aura with MB and Zak. It's what we started calling Cimerora but it also fits in with our theme of food and drink.
-The creation of villain group counterpart to CA (on my birthday! <3), Maliciously Delicious.
-Starting a conga line around Atlas. We went around the whole city and each person put the person in front of them on follow, it worked out awesomely.

-Halloween when I put on the freak costume and took my Vanguard HVAS to hold the city rep hostage in Atlas. I freaked out a lot of newbs.
-2 years ago on Halloween leading many GM Hunts through Talos for the Jack/Eochai/Unseelie Court badges, as well as last year too.
-Spontaneously putting on a fireworks show in Atlas with GE a year ago on the 4th. Anyone with a nuke flew high in the air right by city hall and I instructed everyone to stand by me and adjust their camera to look up and watch 'em after a countdown.
-The Easter party MB and I threw a year and a half ago. We didn't even plan it, we found each other that morning and were like, Hey let's do something for Easter! And a bunch of people actually showed up in Pocket D. It was rockin' with many CCs, a friendly PvP match, and plenty of bunny hop dancing.
-Starting in FBZ and working my way all through the Shadow Shard on the geysers until I reached the very end on top of Storm Palace.

-Seeing a huge DE monster from MI do the swim animation all the way to Portal Corp where lots of heroes came to defeat 'em.
-Hitting 50 on May and doing a victory run all the way to Atlas without using the train and having a welcoming party for me by Ms. Liberty.
-Making my first male toon, manly man Sforzando. I'd quote Futurama and say things like how I need to go down to the jazz club and play some pool with the boys.
-Leveling Prae Kay & MB up together on Strike Force Saturdays with Troll and Lady Troll!
-When I was on vent one day with nerdcore we were running mishes in RWZ, I had been imitating the mission complete sound whenever we completed a mission 'cause I'm a dork. One of the missions must have gotten bugged because we were fighting an AV, team wiped, tried to get back but the AV somehow disappeared. The mission ended up completing while most of the team was still trying to get back from the hospital, so I immediately did the sound again, which is what made everyone think I had something to do with it. Now everybody in nerdcore still believes I can hax the game.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Triumph rocks. <3

Edit:

-Icing the STF was amazing with all Ice toons.
-All blaster ITF with 6 of us being fire/fire blasters.
-The Manti/Sister Psyche wedding where I hung out with Statesman in the back the whole time and got a pic of him flexing with me.

Hmmm let's see here...

-Fighting first AV, Dr. Vahzilok with friends that introduced me into game.

-Having my mom create a costume when I first got the game, she made a very rough very first Magenta Bolt, and I assumed i'd just delete the toon. 3 years later, she's my main with most badges and how everybody knows me.

-When my friend General Winter told me I could have 5 costumes on each character, I think I immediately screamed like a girl.

-Joining my first SG, Justice Avengers of Paragon, and having some of those friends still play today like Syn, Night Talon, and *****.

-First X-Mas event, I hit 50 on MB like a week before it started and just had a blast on the Chalet.

-Making a WS and TP'n across Hollows to do mishes instead of running 2 miles. Also finishing a CoT trial in 20 minutes.

-Meeting Kay Parfait randomly in Atlas for about 3 months before actually becoming friends, and now were dating..

-The daily "Quick Kaite forming" on TW and the moral divide between the server.

-While fighting AV's in RV, a MM came to ruin our fun and I killed him, yes on MB an Emp/Elec with like 5 attacks. I felt awesome, lol.

-Doing all Ice Power STF with Cath and gang, and owning it.

-Complete MSTF on my first and only attempt at it.

-Forming my own SG with Kay, Cinnamon Aura, even if it is just a haven for our 90 alts.

-Being on the first successful ITF on Triumph server, hooray for playing during mornings.

-Manticore and Sister Psyche's wedding, because giving Fort to Statesman and Synapse just felt awesome.

-After 3 years of playing finally getting a villain to 50.

-The 5th Year Anniversary Event madness with being teleported to Paragon Dance Party fighting AVs, multiple dancing Kronos Titans on top of Yellowline, and Jade Spider appearing under Atlas to the newbies despair and confusion.

I loves me some Kay Parfait! <3

My number 1 moment for me is probably the night of the 7/7 bombings. A massive crowd gathered in Galaxy City Arena lobby and we had a moment of silence for the people in London. I was shocked by the turnout of people there, and some people said some rather impacting things.

1. Our first two base raids with Alpha Team. None of us PvP'ed, none of us knew squat and we had the greatest time ever! I can still hear Pyrecat crying about how my stormie kept his fire tank pinned to the wall of the infirmary where we found him trying to take out our rezzer.

5. The Haunted House on Test with the PvPEC. Okay, not a Triumph event, but it was so much fun! Especially when Ghost Widow made a guest appearance and dropped COT and GMs all around. It took me over a week to build the HH and people were super excited about being in it. I know a lot of people looked at base design and raiding in a whole new light after this event.

[/ QUOTE ]

I remember these two!

I also remember enjoying the two events very much.

In the base raids though Alpha Team got our behinds spanked I seem to remember a certain Elec^3 blaster being at the top of the kill list (and killed list )

The HH event was a blast, thoroughly enjoyed being trounced by the visitors.

[ QUOTE ]

7. My first few Eden trials. Back when it was actually pretty hard. Once you lost control of the spawns at the first wall, you could never get it back.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah yes..., my favorite memories of that TF were when people swore on their grandmothers grave that without rad debuffers you couldn't get past the first wall. I say Nuts to that! We were even a 6 man team to boot, that was AWESOME! I felt like a tank that day!

My (short) list, in no particular order:

- East Siyeed!!! Triumphs first succesful Hami Raid with the new Hamidon. Was part of the Yellow Mitos team (East Side), it took us forever, but it was a fun time.

- Eden, when it was seriously borked and being able to finish it with a "sub-optimal" team.

- First level 50. Hey, you will never forget that time. Four of us hit 50 within half an hour of each other.

- Very young in my career I met Zia Frostfire. If it wasn't for her(?) I probably would have quit the game entirely when I first experienced the Hollows... pre-temp travel/rezoning/debt cap.

- Being able to do the Cavern of Transcendence trial the long hard way, finishing it with 3 seconds to spare.

- As hokey as this sounds, joining Global Heroics..., I swear you won't find a more helpful group when it comes to learning the ins and outs of the game.

Triumph Server and a spattering of heroes/villians on all others.

@Dr. Earl Grey
