Dagh! silly me! yes, it's supposed to be august 12th, and the time is 8:10 on the west coast.
-
/signed! allowing actual choices and changes from mission to mission would be really great! it couls also open up different ways to complete the arc depending on what you do earlier! (hacks a stray computer to find a password to the plans for the satellite base in the second mission's computer, including the placement of robot control panels, which you activate in mission four to sow chaos while you upload the supervirus from mission three into the satellite's guidance system, pulling it out of orbit...)
-
hallo, if anyone would be interested in an organized team on thursday night, starting at 8:10 under Atlas's statue, please leave the name of your character, archetype, and level. oh, blueside, and I'll be my level 50 Tanker, Sundiver.
should we overflow in applications (unlikely as that is) secondary and tertiary teams can form. these teams are just for whatever the majority wants, be it missions, badging, TFs, or coming together for a mothership raid.
here's hoping somebody shows up! -
the current zombie events can be interesting, but they don't scream horror to me. you see where they come from, they come in a slow, steady, steady stream, and ther'es no way to go about it like zombies in other mediums. so, here's my list of reccomendations.
1. make the zombies come from someplace else. have a number of doorways that they come out of, so that heroes have a chance to see a horde coming around a corner and give them a chance to run.
2. make them faster! instead of a slow tide of basic minions, make them really fast, let them do above average damage, but give them few hp.
3. have them storm the players! don't have them all come one at a time over a long period of time, have them arrive in waves of destruction iterspersed with quiet periods.
4. central locations. in the locations where invasion grouings usually happen, set up a police barricade manned by cops and armed civillians, and make that a place where the zombies are storming. in harsh waves, the whole thing will gain an apocalyptic feeling.
5. fog. Dark Astoria style, for that creepy tension.
6. Howling. this works in two ways. in central locations, when zombie waves draw closer, add in the sound of zombie howling and groaning, from unseen locations throught the fog, which will add tension and a heads up that now's the time to pop those inspirations. also, it could serve as a way of adding stealth to things. in alleyways and on street corners, there might be single zombies that, when they sight you, start howling, which brings more zombies to your location.
thoughts? suggestions? -
HELL YEAH!
freaking awesome! great churchill quote, and really captures a feel for it. this is DEFINITELY something Iw ould love to see, something huge, menacing and grand. you step off the train, and see a flicker of movement above you, some hulking shape blotting out the stars, and your blood runs cold as a searchlight plays across it's black hull to reveal the emblem of a skull...
at the very least, this would make an amazing mission for a task force or large scale story arc. the feel of invasion is perfect for the column.
also, in certain locations there should be troops fighting on their own - there's no way the government would just let longbow take care of this. give it some more conventional military stuff, just to make it a bit more WWII.
the parachutes shouldn't be too hard, don't third tier mercenaries already arrive by parachute?
and the zeppelins muyst go up in a night-lighting fireball, hindenberg style. perhaps the badge should instead be called "OH THE HUMANITY!" -
It seems like a possibility would be to have alternate animation options for travel powers that emulate gear and vehicles. for instance...
superspeed could look like a motercyle. it's compact enough to work, I think, and could be functionally the same.
Flight could just use the same thing as jetpacks. it's a cool item, and one could see a hero making use of one full time. another option is having it look kind of glider-ish when you fly, a webbing between torso and arm that stretches out a bit beyond, batman beyond style
Super jump could be a sort of rapid-rappeler, shooting out a line and then pulling you after it. alternatively, use the zero-g pack
teleportation... glowing belt? sky raiders backpacks? -
hi, I've been having problems with the new update. for some reason, my mouse lags horribly and my controls either stick, delay, or don't respond
I've tried lowering graphics settings, AND restarting the game. can anyone suggest anything? -
but where are we going to find a harbor with ships full of tea withoutbeing accosted by the enforcer the Devs have out in place to keep the space lobster down; Lusca! (or should that end in a questtion mark?(oh, well now it does. (dammit, now it's a period.)))

on the subject of sea monsters, I think that if there IS some underwater zone later, there should be many roaming EB's and monsters. big snake type things, even if it's only targetable near the head, I'd love to be swimming along through some kind of canyon, then suddenly there's a issing and I'm tossed aside as a massive form dart past me, then flit up and flares it's angler fish light.
-
true enough. hm. I may have to rethink my strategy when fighting Warhulks if eeach of them is a miniature nuclear reactor...
-
I could actually see a nemesis base. steam may not like cold, but then how is it those warhuls and jaegers can take repeated ice blasts that have to be aproaching absolute zero? wen you blow them up, it's actially from the WEAR AND TEAR. so it makes sense to me that a base could take the antarctic cold.
besides, the boilers would also eliminate the need for a furnace, cheapening power needs. the problem is, what do they burn? -
hmmm... what it needs is a reason why heroes and villains care.
that's my primary beef with people wanting non-city zones. it's hard to ave a good reason for a superhero to be in an area where there aren't people to save. and if there are people to save, it's hard to give a reason for them to stay there if it's so freaking dangerous. -
hear hear, /Signed
a solid way to have the one-on-one fights we know and love where it can be 1 hero vs. 1 distinctive supervillain (but where do the minions come from? if he just escaped from prison, are these just more escapees?) -
why no love for robots??
ROBOTS
regular flavor
Steampunk (brass fitted with boilers and smokestacks, for you Nemesis wannabes out there,"
Humanoid (more like Asimov's robots, standing as tall as you, gunmetal golems with laser eyes
Clockwork style (diminuitive constructs that might as well be toys if not for the laser cannons.
Cyborgs/power armor (bulkier versons of the humanoids with exposed flesh in places)
Bankers (because they're the REAL robots...) -
I actually sugested something like this...http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=210192 (shameless plug)
the way that id change these new zones is to add an underlying story to them that can be discovered in the course of sweeping the tunnels before you get to the bottom of the zone, or middle, or top, etc., and you come across the climax, the culmination of the purpose of the zone.
someone else suggested adding wandering AV's near the middle, with badges attatched -
for Villains, you get featured on Arachnos recruitment posters and Wanted posters
"I want YOU
to come work for the reincarnated mortal shell of a death god and his army of spiders" -
... but im not looking for fish in the E-Sea, I can barely handle the regular fish I've to on the line!
-
Quote:I tend to do the same thing, only with a more dramatic rush to try and stop them from falling. I actually tend to do the same thing when villains start running for the edge, at least human onesPedestrian: Thank you for rescuing me! *turns and heads towards the edge of the roof*
Me: All in a days work good citizen...hey! What are you doing? Noooo!
"Stop! you ma be an irredeemable waste of skin who wil never amount to anything remotely like good or justice, but it's not worth killing yourrself over!"
splat
"oh... you... um... Survived. I guess I can go back to punching you then?" -
-
sorry about any balance issues you found with the minions, im not really sure how to test for them. if you have an specific suggestions, tha would be much appreciated. I'll take anther look over the typos too.
and also, what was your opinion of the plot? pacing? use of second mission? -
as far as youth goes, I'm not one to cast assumptions.
I guess she COULD be playing a mean joke, but why nurse it for weeks to get a payoff that will only happen with a select few people, namely, the ones who'll feel bad about it.
finally, it may be useless or just stupid to apologize for whatever I did that offended her, but if I did, I hate to see people sad, so I generally try to make anyone I can feel better. that goes double when it comes to cases I'm responsible for. -
ohhhh you mean the third meaning, that she's falling in love with my character in game rather than me or roleplaying that she is. I see.
so... you're saying she fell in love with a collection of pixels that she knew represented someone else? odd. as I said, I haven't been roleplaying him as anything but a hero with my mind, so it comes down to costume design?
...wow, maybe I should sell this design if that's the case...
any takers for a costume gua-ran-teed to have women chasing you from Atlas park all the way to peregrine? you won't be able to swing a dead(er) vahzilok without hitting a prospective lover! do I hear 4 million influence? -
...how is my character different from me when you take it as THAT meaning?
