More "areas" like the sewers

I thought about this during class yesterday (yes I was daydreaming), but it hasn't been the first time that I've had a daydream like this.

I've always liked the Sewers and Abandoned Sewers as those kinda "open" dungeons, as in you and your team can go inside and KO mobs to your hearts' content, and you could run into another team doing the same.

But the sewers are restricted to low-levels only, (up to 40 if you count the abandoned sewer network) so I've wondered what other areas could be created to cater to high-level characters, without being an instanced interior. (Like a zone within a zone, but able to be entered by many characters)

An Arachnos Base
The interior of the Rikti Mothership
Oranbega
A Council or a 5th Column Base

Such an area would have to be a size that would rival the sewer network...perhaps that's why it hasn't been done, or perhaps no one else had thought about it yet. (Unlikely though)

Thoughts?

I have to wonder: what's the difference between a zone like this and, say, a hazard zone?

Yah. I do like the Rikti Mother Ship idea, but have you noticed that the sewers were the only hazard zones anyone ever went in, and that was before AE. You don't get people plowing through Eden, or street-cleaning in the War Zone. Most people think it's a better idea to 'gentrify' the hazard zones, as they did with Faultline. There are no hazard zones in the Rogue Isles, they'd figured out just how popular they were even then.

I do like the Mothership idea though. That'd be cool. The problem would be getting in.

the way that id change these new zones is to add an underlying story to them that can be discovered in the course of sweeping the tunnels before you get to the bottom of the zone, or middle, or top, etc., and you come across the climax, the culmination of the purpose of the zone.


someone else suggested adding wandering AV's near the middle, with badges attatched

I'd accept that as a concept for a revamp of existing hazard zones. There's really no need to do new areas for this. Half the city isn't being used by 90% of the player population.

Admittedly, what you're both proposing wouldn't change that since that kind of zone generally requires a fairly full team just to survive.
